I have watched and read everything I could about Rasputin and this has been by far the most realistic and as close to the actual that I have come across. You have a natural talent for this medium not to diminish the obvious effort you put in. I'm really impressed and wanted to thank you.
@@HorsesOnYT Obviously it is my opinion that you have absolutely achieved your goal, it's something you should be proud of. I look forward to watching more of your work. Thanks for the reply.
I find it striking how right Rasputin's prediction of Russia's future ended up being. I don't think it would take a genius to see that the War would go poorly for Russia, but seeing as it lead to a century of bloodshed, torrents of blood and tears, for a utopia that would never come. Truly, they all did drown in blood. And even to this very day, burdened by the choices made a century ago, Russia's suffering remains infinite.
this wound will take generations to heal, it's all so very fresh barbaric ritual murder of our white christian royal family devastated us as a nation it all started with french revolution, now it is in the west the wickedness of men is here to stay
No suffering is infinite. There is an end to all suffering that is finite. People die and nations die however the echoes of a dead nation sometimes remain across the broad expanse of history. This is Russia.
Love your content! Rasputins eyes have always sent a shiver up my spine. They're so deepest and a hallow. He looks like he's wearing a mask. And he peers INTO the camera and almost through the photo, when everyone else just seems to be looking AT the camera instead, and almost unfocused.
Rasputin is portrayed like a real human being in this documentary, I appreciate that. Addressing both the good and the bad parts of historical figures seems important to me.
Rasputin wasn’t illiterate. Not only is there still extant letters between him & the czarina, he would have learned to read & write when he became heavily involved with the Russian Orthodox Church.
Great video! I had a teacher in middle school who spent every class for 6 weeks talking about the history of the Romanov Family and the rise of the Soviet Union. Watching this felt like a trip down memory lane :)
This is without a doubt, one of the best channels on all of RU-vid. you have the deeply respectable ability to cover such a diverse range of complicated topics, while keeping it extremely interesting, very easy to digest, and all with pristine quality. Keep up the amazing work my man.
I enjoyed this video very much. 🙏 I’m a Russian who’s ashamed to admit that my knowledge about the Russian Revolution is very poor. A month ago, I decided to change this about myself. I started the lazy way, by watching a three hour documentary (in my mother tongue). It was completely fascinating! I saw many parallels between then and now. Sidenote, your video about Rasputin corroborated many points conveyed in the doco. I think it’s helpful when things align from different sources. Or at least it’s helpful to me in this world. 🌍
I find it hard to believe they demonetized this video. Especially given other stuff I’ve seen on here that is littered with RU-vid ads. Thank you, stay true ☺️
I mean common, there is a picture of a dead body in the video how much more demonatizeble can you get. No matter how good the content is , you really expect ads on a video showing a full ass dead body without censorship???
This comment section annoys me tbh. Like I get it, this is a great channel AND a great video, and the channel isn't mainstream; but I just want to see comments about the video, since it is such an interesting topic. Like, Rasputin is honestly one of the most entertaining stories of all time. Why can't yall discuss how sad it is to see a man killed over something that he had no control over?
I feel like every so often, history spits out these insanely charismatic figures who seem to have an unparalleled ability to charm and manipulate people into doing anything they want. Both Manson and Rasputin are prime examples of this. Human beings are just suckers for charisma. It intoxicates us.
Corellating Grigori Rasputin to Charles Manson is fucking disgusting. Rasputin from all I've seen and read just shows me that he was very much so misunderstood. Unlike Manson who was a Satanic psychopath.
I'm positive that even the RU-vid employees that had to see this video in order to verify the demonetization were amazed by its great quality. The law isnt always fair nor right. Your work is amazing.
My father was a Germanic giant and highly intellectual. Our town considered him an oracle. He chose a life of wandering and sharing his wisdom on the streets which was exceedingly well recieved as highly insightful. He adored Rasputin.
Rasputin and Vlad Dracul Tepes of Wallachia. Both misunderstood men with scandalized stories surrounding them. Few years back, my family and I befriend a woman named Emma who was from Romania. She says "in Romania, we have very fond feelings for Vlad Tepes." Sad, no one alive can come forward about Rasputin. I believe he was in fact a spiritual man who was comfortable with himself, kind, generous and did not care what others say. If you go against societal norms, you are demonized. I hate Felix Yusupov.
so happy to have found this channel recently. please never change the way you conduct and script your words, they are admirable and just pleasant to listen to man.
The top production quality, the amazing art, the well researched (niche) topics, the soothing voice and most importantly the honest /hopeful / deeply human /understanding way you approach the people in your stories. I love everything about this. Thank you for making content that feels intimately „handmade“ instead of „mass produced“.
Please never stop posting these video essays they're incredibly high quality and your story telling is intensely gripping. They fill up my space and I thoroughly enjoy each and every one of them.
I'm honestly so glad I discovered your channel. Each video you make is so uniquely designed to the topic you're covering in them, but this one was really special to me. Brilliant editing, masterfully put together, and your narration is so clear and calming to listen to. (Also as someone who enjoys old Soviet films, it was really cool to see clips of Viy here as well lol) I wish there was some kind of Oscar/Emmy category for videos like these.
I heard a story that Rasputin might have actually "sort of" solved Alexi's hemophilia. The doctors would give him an aspirin type of medication frequently, which turns out to be a blood thinner. Rasputin understood this and when the doctors stayed away and didn't give the boy medication, he didn't bleed nearly as badly. Not sure if it's true but it could lend some credence to his "heeling powers. "
@@MrX-sg9us Did he actually bring up the medications used in this video? 'cause I managed to miss it if so. The presentation in that section was a bit mystical at least in this video. (edit: you I get the sense you got to the end, but neglected the going overview which was dubious claims all the way down.)
i’ve been alphabetizing my partners mtg cards for the last couple of days and your stuff is amazing to listen to in the background. i’ve learned a lot. keep up the good work
Russians really respect the degree to which you are familiar with the actual sources and do not sensationalize or lie to make us exotic, thanks for the treatment as humans, fellow human.
This is your most thoroughly researched video yet. I can tell how much effort and thought you put into it and it shows. It’s remarkable work. You’ve presented all this muddled information so clearly and concisely, and your attention to detail in the audio-visual elements make me feel like I’m in Russia at the turn of the century. I learn so much from this channel and I’m so grateful for you!
I literally never comment on youtube, but I've been blown away by every single one of your video essays. I love your account man, you're seriously really good at this. Keep it up!! ❤️
Very well done, actually never knew a lot of his lore was fiction but I’m not surprised because he was very influential and i kinda get Charlie Manson vibes from Rasputin haha
Your delivery and editing style is simultaneously informative and somehow soothing, quickly becoming my favourite channel 💯 best believe the hype was real when I saw a rasputin vid dropped 🙌
just found you today and i gotta say, you’re one of the best doing this type of content out here right now. good production value and great storytelling skills combined with the unique and interesting topics you select make for a channel i’ll keep coming back to! keep it up and you’ll be killing the game in no time.
I subbed to you back when I couldn't sleep in the height of drug addiction. Now I'm in recovery and subbing to you has been the only decision I don't regret from that timespace.
What a fascinating video! I'm glad you sounded the alarm about RU-vid not promoting the video through the algorithm; I immediately sought it out. Thank you so much for taking the time and investing the energy to deconstruct contentious topics and thereby promote tolerance and illuminate the truth. Cheers!
What a phenomenal look at a fascinating man. My only prior knowledge of Rasputin has come from that animated movie 90s kids grew up watching and likewise dramatic and sensational documentaries from time to time, really playing up the horror and macabre. This was really great to see! Excellent work.
You’re blowing up! Feels like I bought the stock (found your channel) at the perfect time. Wish I could buy call options. If you keep making content like this you’ll be at 500k year end. Dude I literally have a text from July 23rd sending your channel to my friend and saying you only had 20k subs. This growth is insane!
The quality of this video gives me goosebumps and the the way you end this video and many others provides so much satisfaction. Again extremely well done and you have a way of gripping us to your videos, I could listen to you talk for hours on end.
When I discovered this channel few weeks ago i was surprised by the mismatch to the quality of content and number of viewers, but that seems to have been shrinking. Keep up the good work!
Found this channel like a month ago, seeing this growth and this production value at the same time it's rare these days. Good job mate, keep up the good work
Brother you are so underrated it’s criminal, I’m gonna share your stuff as much as I can and comment the fuck outta everything 😂 Respect from Ireland 🇮🇪
Dude your videos are so high quality that even my parents (who don’t use youtube ever) subscribed and watched most your videos. I’m looking forward to seeing more from you!
This man certainly doesn’t miss. I can confidently say that although there is a plethora of different topics covered in these videos, each and every one still manages to capture my attention. Good work!
Just discovered this channel a few days ago, have to say I am absolutely blown away! Not only are your videos beautiful, there is great care and sympathy in the way you tell stories. So thank you!
I always love the way you format your videos but I think this is my favorite by far. I got so excited when I saw you include “Viy” and a few Soviet cartoons!
I just started watching the other day, I could not believe the magnitude of quality content on this channel. Your longer videos are great, this comes at a perfect time.
This is easily my favourite channel on youtube. Thank you much for all your time and dedication in making these videos. Your topics are perfectly curated. Keep it up!
No I don't think you understand. I'm OBSESSED. I stumbled upon your channel through your Hemingway video from which I still have not recovered. Keep up the stellar work.
Fantastic choice, was just reading about him. Found your channel recently and have been gorging on it. I love the vitality in the versatility of subjects you pick. I'll watch it later tonight but wanted to say, great stuff!
I found this channel about 2 weeks ago and i can't find words how much i appreciate it. It's quickly becoming my favourite channel on RU-vid. I love how you are mixing visual art with facts and storytelling. Much love. Also you have a really nice voice that's nice to listnen too. Good job man.
You know a video is great when over half an hour has passed and you were riveted and compelled by the content the whole time. And when you were disappointed that there wasn't more to watch. Bravo I don't know why this was demonetised, it's certainly no more nsfw than a lot of other stuff on RU-vid,and I'd definitely not class it as particularly degenerate or rude.
Discovered your channel only a week ago and seem ur audience has more than quadrupled since then haha. Well deserved, the subjects u cover and the way in which you do are truly great.
This was the one Horses’ video I hadn’t yet watched. Because I thought I knew the man. Yet, here I sit, astonished at the brilliantly nuanced depiction-one that is far more fitting to reality than the overly-sensational and one-sided boogeyman-mystic-monster-conman representation of Rasputin that history has previously served us. And also a little shocked I hadn’t seen the fact that class divisions have always been a central theme driving the narrative here, not just a passive backdrop. Grateful for the quality, as always.
Seriously one of the best videos I've seen in recent memory, forget these RU-vid guidelines knowing this got some great information and an incredible story
Poetic that the Czar should face a fate similar to Rasputin's, lured to and shot in a basement. I wonder if he ever thought about Rasputin during those final moments or if this mirroring of Rasputin's death could be Rasputin's final mystic act.
