This rebellion thing permeate into all who grow up in Jamaica, including me of European decent. I suffered all my life at work in the UK. I've been sacked from so much jobs because I questioned their authority and point out right from wrong. But the English don't like people like that who speak out and challenge their system.But I cant help it and it cost me dearly, glad I made it through and retiring soon! @Lisa-xu3cl
@Lisa-xu3cl Год назад
That was Haiti
@romeomills7936
@romeomills7936 9 месяцев назад
@@Lisa-xu3clno. It was Jamaica. The Africans said they recognized Jamaica as their own people from Ghana, Nigeria etc. The British records of slavery states that the fighting slaves were place in the center of the Caribbean to be punished on the island of Jamaica. They took fighting slaves from not just the Caribbean but all over the other bridging colonies in the Americas and Europe. Haiti was a French colony , and no disrespect but Haitians never really started fighting for their rights until France began to collapse because of civil war which cause slave overseers to leave the plantations in protest against not being first class citizens of France. This allowed the slaves to revolt. Jamaicans on the other hand have been fighting before, during and after being captured. They are literally fighting tribes of Africa
@Lisa-xu3cl
@Lisa-xu3cl 9 месяцев назад
@@romeomills7936 even Dutty Boukman who is a historical figure in Haiti was a Jamaican sent to Haiti as punishment because he was so rebellious. The working conditions of the Haitian slaves was known as the most brutal in the WORLD. France was making a fortune from the sugarcane industry in Haiti making the island known at the time as the richest colony in the world. The greed of the Frenchmen made them export massive amount of slaves to the island to make them richer. The greed also led the Frenchmen to brutally beat and mistreat their slaves in order to scare them into working harder. These brutal conditions is what ultimately led to the Haitian Revolution which led to the slave rebellion and war that we eventually won. Understand what motivated the slaves to fight so hard and willingly risk their lives was BECAUSE of how BAD the conditions were for slaves in Haiti. That resentment from how they were being treated is what gave them strength. However it is definitely a close call between the two countries as far as which had it worst because Jamaicans are definitely intense individuals not in a bad way and I think that’s remnants from their ancestors experience still effecting many today
@Lisa-xu3cl
@Lisa-xu3cl 9 месяцев назад
@@romeomills7936 also sorry you are completely wrong about what motivated slaves to fight it had nothing to do with civil war in France or Haiti especially since most slaves where running away to the mountainside therefore honestly had no way of knowing the current events and political state of the “cities” or overseas because they were secluded and isolated to the mountainside. One thing about Haitian culture and mentality is you literally would have to be Haitian to understand us and our way of thinking. The slaves had been rebelling for years but the deciding factor in when they would officially start the war was due to the thunder and tropical storms from a night where thousands of slaves gathered for a voodoo ceremony taking the weather to be a sign and omen that this would be the night they should attack and they did killing every white person in sight creating the motto “koupe tet Boule Kay” which means cut off their heads and burn their homes. Haitians are spiritual people who act based on emotion instead of logic (unfortunately) so to think we waited for the “opportunity” to attack because of the issues going on with the slave owners is silly lol my people do not operate like that
