Program Notes:
From the same director-composer dynamic duo of Brad Bird and Michael Giacchino that brought you The Incredibles, Ratatouille marks Pixar’s eighth foray into an animated wonderland. The film is particularly well known for its attention to detail - Remy the rat has approximately 1.15 million hairs rendered by computer on his body, the gourmet ratatouille served at the end was visually reconstructed from a real life creation cooked up by consulted chef Thomas Keller, and the animation team swam around in a pool wearing a chef ’s suit to see what a wet outfit would look like. This precise animation combined with the heartwarming tale of friendship and overcoming adversity in one of the world’s greatest cities rightfully secured the film an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and we hope to share a little bit of that magic with you this evening. Join us in the kitchen as Remy and Linguini experience Paris to the tune of simulated accordion solos, romantic French interludes, a jazzy special order, and a Vespa chase along the Seine.
