Rate is the change in concentration of the product or reactant per unit of time. It is usually measured in moles per litre per second. Average rate is calculated by finding the difference between the final and initial concentration in the numerator divided by the final and initial time in the denominator. Instantaneous rate is the rate at any given point in time. There are different methods to measure the rate of a reaction, ranging from colour change, change in pressure, precipitate formation, conductivity change and change in pH. They all require different instruments to make such measurements. We can determine which method to incorporate depending on how the reactant has reacted and what it has produced. Lastly, calculating rates of reaction requires the use of formulae and also logic problem solving skills to determine the solution
