AGL the thing about Jiren is that he already had a bad design going against him and an overhyped backstory that when revealed was literally so cliche half the fan base basically predicted it
Jiren was so bad ass that he doesn’t even need to be a good character I could watch his fights with out hearing a word from him Tho I will admit the thing that separates him from madara, aizen and Vergil is that personality we mentioned He could be way more like able but I know everyone here will watch any fight he partakes in
The only thing I liked about him was his character, but maybe I could consider him as an actual antagonist if that character wasn't revealed in the last 5 episodes in a 51 episode arc...
The importance of that final cut as you see Broly's eyes just before he gets teleported out of the way of the Kamehameha *cannot* be understated. While he's in a berserker rage, his pupils and irises disappear. He was literally terrified out of his berserker rage. He was legitimately scared that he was about to die.
@@Milkra it was broly's 1st REAL fight against one of the Most powerfull beings in Universe 7 (Obviusly puting aside others like Whiss and Beerus) that suddenly fused to fight him,Like hell he was gonna be scared
I actually really appreciate hearing an outsider's perspective on these characters, since many folk who play this game are fans already, and know virtually all the references being made.
Exactly! I like to hold the standard of "if it's not good without context, it's not good period" and I am more than willing to uphold that standard with something I really like
@@MagnustheMage 100% agree with that. Any piece of media relating to the source material should make themselves so appealing and visually pleasing that even strangers to the series would be enraptured and made fans. If the only people you can get are those that are already invested, you already failed in marketing.
I will forever call Gogeta’s Dramatic Finish on Janemba a 10/10 because of the utter disrespect. Gogeta powered down to base form and then to Super Saiyan to do Stardust Breaker (Soul Punisher).
"I don't even NEED to see the movie!" Uh...if you gave that Dramatic Finish an 11, then yeah...you actually do. Because the movie is exactly like that for most of the second half.
XK7Projects Bruh are you stupid? He doesn’t actually mean he “has” to see it. Just that if he wants to see more of that but better then the movie has that for him. Taking things way too literal.
The lack of antagonist Dramatic Finishes is upsetting. The villains got some of the best shit and they only use it for heroes. I would love to see S Broly thrash Goku as a Dramatic Finish or Cell killing Trunks or beating down Vegeta
Yeah dramatic finishes are sticking a bit too close to the souce material imo, it'd be great if they went a little crazy like they did with the Bardock vs Frieza one I'd love to have Frieza just teabagging Goku
This comment is really funny, BUT if you didn't know, Gogeta only reached SSJ against Janemba. Its a nice call back because Gogeta didn't fight Janemba in blue. Its a nice throwback haha
15:52 There's a part of me that hopes he sees Dragon Ball Super: Broly someday. Because seeing Max's reaction to that dramatic finish reminded me of my reaction when I saw the movie in the theater. Lol
Even though I had not watched anything but DBZ Abridged and a few clips here and there up to that point, seeing the movie in theatres was fucking hype af
@@imarock.7662 Ugh? The story gets pretty fleshed out by the end. I also am aware of most of the differences between the two. The OG Dragon Ball is on my list, also DBZ Kai if I'm feeling like it some summer.
Is not just her, but all Universe 6 sayains: her separate forms (Kalufila and Kale) and Kabe design are downright terrible and generic. In fact that goes for almost all Super's character (Excluding Whis, Beerus and Hit). They all look underwhelimg as hell.
Gogeta’s dramatic finish against Broly is 100% the best one. I don’t think it will be topped. Not even if they do the dramatic finish with MUI Goku against Kefla.
No chance. As dope as that UI kameha was against Kefla, It just doesn't have anywhere near the depth and cinematography that the movie does with Gogeta and that's okay. We know by now that they try their best to exactly replicate what happens in the show
Oh, I dunno, MUI Goku vs Kefla had the best Kamehameha in the history of Dragon Ball, and I hope they animate it super well, with insane cinematography.
GrimmBones I think bare-minimum, MUI Goku’s dramatic finish against Kefla will be on par with Gogeta’s dramatic finish against Broly, but I don’t think it will surpass it.
Tadayoshi Yamamuro isn't responsible for the fact Kefla looks bland. its actually more in Toriyama's fault along with the direction staff at Toei animation. Toei's team designed Kale and brought her to Toriyama, who decided she'd need to be a duo, and then designed Caulifla. both are equally as bland in terms of clothing choice and design, with Kale being a literal Broly clone. this means when they fuse, Kefla just looks like an NPC / COC.
@@platinum2263 kefla's design isn't all bad. It just needs a bit more polish because there isn't alot of layers to it unlike Goku. Kale's design is ok but caulifla needs a new design badly.
@@ASHtheSLUGCAT i disagree, Caulifla is great. She looks like a punk/thug. Her super cut crop top shows she unrestricted while her super baggy pants to the point it looks like its about to sag gives a very urban thuggist look. With a mix of her wild spicky hair, she screams Top Thug who gets into plenty street fights. Kefla however, looks like a ordinary gym girl, ESPECIALLY IN BASE FORM....
@@SaanWukong Do you know how many characters have those same baggy pants in dragon Ball? Goku, Krillen, Tien, Yamcha, piccolo, Gohan, all the versions of buu, Moro, etc. The crop top while unique to dragon Ball still isn't visually interesting. Kefla's design isn't that interesting either but at least you can notice that it combines elements of two characters. Kale Imo has a better design and I don't even like kale all that much because she at least has layers.
@@ASHtheSLUGCAT yeah, and? The baggy pants are a dragon ball stable just like spandex are yet all the characters you listed still look completely different and all have different feels. Even the jeans are baggy as hell most of the case so I don't see your point. The way she wears them is still different and feels different then every other character. Kale, I admit, didn't get as much credit as I should have given her. Her design is a bit better than Caulifla as it also reflects her character. Her croptop is baggier and covers more and wears a skirt with a belt and leggings underneath showing she doesn't show off as much as Caulifla and is much more modest and shy. Yet she wears Jewelry such as gold and etc, something someone who is high in the food chain or royalty would wear, showing she isn't all what she seems. Not to mention it's a great call back to Broly Z showing their similarity. Kale is top tier design as well!
"THE RAT" I had to stop watching for a moment due to excessive laughter. After stoping, I instantly liked (would've anyways) and proceed to write this comment.
I can't believe no one is talking about the limb break at 15:03. Alongside the DBS Broly Dramatic Finish, that's definitely the highlight of this video. The way his arm torques into an impossible curve while his fist shakes violently gives that motion an unreal amount of whiplash.
I agree with Max about Kefla looking boring. She has a crop top and tights on. Caulifla is a VERY generic looking character aswell, I feel like they didnt put a lot of effort in designing a lot of characters from the other universes
Considering the fireworks and crazy animation alone, yes, it is entertaining. But the story is nonexistent. The current Dragon Ball run can perfectly be described as the equivalent of hollywood brainless blockbusters, but in anime form.
@@Theyungcity23 it really doesn't need a story. Just cheap entertainment. I used to expect more quality, but nowadays I just accept that the "blockbuster" is a thing.
@@Theyungcity23 because it has no meaning. Literally, it's identical when you thrown a toy for a dog or show bright lights for a kid... It distracts them at the short term, but that's it. Again, it sounds like this is an example of a inferior kind of entertainment... And it is. But it still entertaining. So, for people who watched these dragon ball super movies and got entertained, that's fine, it's not a "sin" or anything. I used to think these kind of products were completely useless, zero value, etc... But I was wrong, they have a reason to exist.
Kefla's design is really plain, especially for a fusion, the character type that usually looks interesting in DB series. Part of the problem is that the fusion partners' designs are pretty one-note too.
12:06 Yeah you pretty much summed up her entire character. Like, I'm a huge Gotenks and Kefla fan, but the problem with her (even mooore than with him) is that her fighting style is her only quality, and if you don't like even that then she's literally nothing. She has no story, she has no development and the idea behind her concept (though that's truer for Kale than Kefla) is quite literally just "I'm female Broly". I love what they did with her fighting style, luckily, and would love to see more of it, but DBS is full of wasted potential like her. At _least_ she made for a very entertaining mid-game boss, so to speak.
Yes watch the film it is awesome. And sets up Broly to be this power-house anti-hero member of the Z-Fighters yep calling it now after the Moro Arc in the anime airs we'll finally get DBS Broly returning as a Z-Fighter.

The last one is kinda lame without the context of the show. Like, in the show you understand why they're pushing Jiren down (to throw him out of the arena), but here they have no reason to do it... just 'cause...
The fact that he hasn’t seen much about the movies just makes his reactions that much better. Watching the movies just makes the dramatic finishes more boring then anything else...but not knowing anything about the movies when seeing the dramatic finishes makes them epic as fuck
Just noticed this now but apparently, if you look closely at Blue Gogeta's level 3 second part, he does the thing with his hands at the end of the Kamehameha where he swings his hand and blows off the excess Ki from his hands. The same way a samurai swings his blade to remove the blood on its edge.
I hope Max gets around to watching the Broly movie at some point. Even if he's out of the loop with the Super stuff (I sure was, having only watched Battle of Gods and Resurrection F), it's a fucking spectacle of animation and I'd recommend it on that alone. Would also add that I usually don't dig CG in anime but I quite like how they used it in this one!
dood, you should've brought back the intro with your face on trunks doing the burning attack with the announcer saying "you are now watching dragonball fighterz." i freaking love that intro
Thats a fair take. I feel like the magnitude of the Goku/Frieza vs Jiren one is hard to feel if you don't watch the show, whereas the DBS Broly one has most of its meaningfulness present right there in the scene itself. Still, for me, nothing could chart the greatest DB moment of all time, the power of trust.
I love that, because ArcSys worked on the Gogeta v Broly fight in the movie, the Dramatic Finish is literally just the fight from the movie with filler cut out. Like they really just said fuck it and let people watch the movie whenever they wanted. Absolutely deserves 11/10
GT Goku's basic Dragon Fist super is a reference to the finisher against Super 17. If they had added in the dragon effect, it probably would have been decent. But of course, it would never beat the Super Saiyan 4 variation.
I think a really fun thing Max could do with this series once this season is all wrapped up and go back to all of the dramatic finishes and compare them to the scenes their based off of since ( from what I can tell ) he probably hasn't seen alot of the original series
I fuckin' hope Ultra Instinct Goku and Kefla have a dramatic finish. Goku using a Kamehameha ball to slide up Kefla's attack and blasting her point blank was fucking awesome.
Imagine Base Goku vs. Frieza dramatic finish incorporated Piccolo while Goku charges the Spirit Bomb, that would've made the dramatic finish at least an 8/10
Goddammit man Vegeta's sacrifice needs to be a Dramatic Finish! It doesn't need to be exactly the same as it was in the anime. You just need Vegeta and Majin Buu.
I still find it crazy that SSGSS Goku and Vegeta don’t have any dramatic finishes. And not just them, but Android 17 and 18, Piccolo, Majin Buu, Captain Ginyu and so on.
14:52 imagine fighting your opponent and he says “hold on, let me transform to my weakest form so you can keep up with me” and yet you still get wooped. Even going to heaven or hell you’re still getting all that embarrassment
