Here is a half-decent gamma spectroscopy module for any ratemeter. It lets you take gamma spectrums with the help of a computer multichannel analyzer (MCA), like Theremino MCA. Connect the ratemeter to one side of the module as a high voltage supply, and connect the other side to your scintillation probe of choice. The signal is outputted from a 3.5 mm audio jack that can be connected to a computer sound card.
The op amp that I used is not the only one that will work. There exist many better alternatives that also are cheaper. Just make sure to use the op amp in an amplifier that integrates the current. The charge should be proportional to the voltage, if you want to use it for gamma spectroscopy.
It works well for most energies. At high energies the op amp that I am using has trouble giving the voltage corresponding to the energy. One solution to this is to decrease the ratemeter's voltage. A more thorough solution would be to change to a different op amp or change the circuit entirely.
I am happy to answer any questions. If you have suggestions I would be interested in hearing them too. Thanks!
