OK YALL GOTTA CHILL 50k??? BRO NOW 60? IM CRYING WHY IS STHIS STILL POPULAR 😭 help me this just got 100k in 2 days? btw yall if your recommending me alarms I can’t do it right now it’s pretty dead so STOP SAYING THAT ISRAEL ISNT ISREAL IK I MADE A MISTAKE-
I have heard that in Japan, they have made the sound less scary to prevent people from panicking. However, when a big earthquake occurs, it becomes a traumatic experience, and when people hear the sound, they panic, and in the end, the efforts made to prevent panic become meaningless. By the way, I am Japanese. I don't want to hear that sound.
@@mistfulvoid Recently, the places where the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred, namely Fukushima and Miyagi prefectures, have been progressing rapidly in their reconstruction. However, earthquakes like aftershocks are happening frequently, and I really hope that people over there are safe.
frightening at times??? as a canadian myself, that shit is horror-movie material right there, and knowing who its for doesn't make it less scary, it makes it more scary, ur hearing a very loud and scary sound, the sound is because someone went missing, and it's at night most of the time.
fun fact! in the US, the actual "alert sound" for the EAS is that 8 second two-tone sound you hear. the first three "buzzers" are *actually* the thing that tells your device (cable box, receiver, etc.) all the information about the alert, e.g. who issued it, the affected area, what the warning is, and how long it's in effect for! it's called a SAME tone, and is really fascinating when you get into the nitty-gritty of it!
@@MysteriumArcanum yes and no. those buzzers are used for every warning that's sent through the EAS -- this includes things like the national or local tests, weather emergencies, civil danger warnings, and so on. they *were* used, back when it was called the Emergency Broadcast System, for potential nuclear announcements, but are broadly used today. you still cannot play an EAS tone on any broadcast (e.g. TV or radio), as it can and will trigger the warning for whatever area is encoded in it. this is because all broadcasting stations, international or not and TV or not, are required to accept EAS SAME tones to ensure that, in the event of an emergency, alerts can be properly delivered quickly and efficiently.
I remember seeing a comment about the Japanese one. apparently during a disaster e.g. earthquake the alarm is coming from phones, tvs, radios etc. so it's a cute sound alone but when it's coming from everywhere surrounding you while you're trying to you know get into a safe place for whatever is happening it's creepy as can be
As Malaysian, I’ve actually not heard the alarm often since there isn’t much accidents happening. But when it does it’s terrifying edit: omg how did this blow up- thx everyone :)
as a Canadian i can confirm. i only heard it like 2 times and one was for a missing child and another is a wildfire in the area. the first one happened when i was like 7 or 8 and i was watching videos in my tv and suddenly the amber alert went off and as a 7 or 8 year old would think i thought i was in immediate danger. yeah that was a stressful day. i was shaky the rest of the day and couldn't sleep.
most of these i feel the opposite way like the japan one for instance. that one sounds like a baby toy but it's in the context of an emergency where people could actually die so it has a scary undertone to an otherwise "innocent" sound. plus the goal isn't to actually sound scary but just to alert people of an emergency
As a Canadian I can confirm, we do have that eas alarm. Sometimes it’s used for Amber alerts too, I may have heard it many many times but it still manages to scare me.
I remember being 3 years old when the Japanese Tsunami hit, lived in Matsudo at the time and because I was 3 I was like "mom is there an ice cream truck?" And she's like "NO COME ON THERE'S A TSUNAMI" I kind of laugh at my stupidity but I'm glad I live in the States now, where I live there's no more earthquakes. I also don't have to deal with living in a collectivist society anymore, which is nice because I was born much different than other Japanese. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk 😏😊
As a person who has lived in Canada all her life, I can say with confidence (Even if it is usually an amber alert): *The alarm is so much scarier when it appears on your TV*
As someone in the US it was pretty scary at first hearing that it sounded very scary but I got used to it over a while and I don’t get much anymore anyways only a few about missing children
Tbh, I’ve never heard the U.S. siren irl, but I don’t find it scary. Mainly bc of siren head, I love those creepy things like creepy pastas, skinwalkers, cartoon dog and cat, those type of things. Same with that one broken tornado siren. It’s scary, but I like it because it’s one of the main sounds siren head makes. Sometimes I’ll be sitting outside, and idk what it is but something will happen and like 20 different sirens will go off one after another- (P.S. no it never happens bc of emergencies, it’s normal) and every time I hear it I’m like, “Siren head?-“ lol
Canada's the scariest one for me tbh, just imagine being sleep deprived and it's 3 in the morning, ya got a long ass dark hallway with your door open to it and it suddenly comes on, my mind would make up the scariest cryptids and faces possible.
Fun fact : the japan eas isn't scary cuz they need everyone to stay calm not to start freaking out and panic Edit : (probably my first time being the top comment)
The Japanese citizens dosen't panic that much when an earthquake happens because they been through earthquakes every year, same goes to Chile. But the tsunami is what makes them worried from what happened to the 2011 tsunami
0:16 im Japanese and i understand that people outside japan might not be as scared but this alarm activates my fight or flight instincts whenever I hear it
story time: I was watching something recorded at like 3 am and apparently it had an eas announcement for a thunderstorm. I fell asleep and it was still playing. EAS happened when I was asleep and I almost shat myself
As a Singaporean I live in an area where not a lot of incidents happen but when they do I just sit on my couch and pretend I’m deaf. *But* *Malaysia* *is* *truly* *terrifying* *I* *got insomnia* *=)*
My guy.. I'm from Israel I hear that almost every month!!! WE HAVE A SPEICEL ROOM FOR THIS ITS SO OFTEN!!!! EVEN AT SCHOOL ALL THE CLASSES JUST GO TO THRIR PLACE IN THE ROOM AND THEY SEE IF EVERYBODY'S THERE THEY LET US CALM AND THEN ITS JUST LIKE NOTHING HAPPEND WE ARE JUST USED TO IT!
I feel like the Japan one would be really earie if you just heard it out of nowhere, like say you're in bed trying to get to sleep and you just hear that, it would freak me the fuck out
As a Singaporean, I can tell you our alarm is a lot fucking scarier when you hear it at full blast at 6 in the morning whilst an army plane flies overhead.
I have to intense fear of Amber alerts so I watch the video while I turn down the volume and I live in Canada so I hear the Canada and it's scarier than you think in my opinion for me I would rate 11/10 and the Canadian Amber alerts pop up in night morning afternoon evening every time when I sleep and I hear the Amber alert i cream and I lose my mind and closing my ears imagine I was holding something fragile I would explode to death and I would close my ears and it might probably fall down something fragile and I break something Amber alerts are pretty dangerous to me they often come in a child adoption or whatever warning or sometimes test alert
same like i lived in canada for maybe a decade before leaving and I hated it when during school everyone's phones would be turned on... i'd just hear: DEEEEEEEEENOOOOOOOOODEEEEEEEEENOOOOOOOOOO (sorry it looks weird lmao but yk what I mean)
I hope y'all don't find it weird that i think the japan one is scary. It's just that, because of how delight it is, it would be so shocking to hear it late at night, and to me it sounds like a candy monster is nearby, i don't like it 💀
The U.S. eas tone is still a bit scary in my opinion, because when I heard it in bed, I would freak out. The last time I heard it, my heart beat elevated. Also, am I the only one who thinks the Malay eas tone isn't very scary?
In my opinion there’s nothing more terrifying than suddenly waking up to a tsunami siren only to realize it’s just the monthly testing to make sure they work. And they are loud af!
As an Australian I remember in primary doing many practices where the EAS alarm would go off in my whole school, only practicing for a real time that we’d have to evacuate (say like a school fire or something) and it would make that sound and go ‘evacuate the building immediately’. It was scary as💀
Growing up I’ve hated the sound of alarms, phone alarms, sirens, eas, etc. Idk why but I’ve always hated them cuz it freaked me out a lot. Everything in the video is scary (that’s also including Japan’s a tiny bit)
The USA One Is Only Scary When Multiple Phones Go Off At Once. Once, While I Was At School, The Storm Outside Had Started To Form Tornadoes In Some Parts Of My State So Every Single Phone Is That Class Room Started Going Off At The Same Time. Eas Sirens Are Already Pretty Loud And Terrifying- Imagine That x10 Along With The Sound Of Panicking, Scared Children.
In Japan (where I came from) I always think an ice cream truck is coming so I ask my mom “Mommy can we get ice cream?” Then she says it’s just an alarm then I say “Okay” and that time made me laugh when I remembered it today
The Japan one is giving me ideas, specifically of some non-Japanese people just enjoying the tunes, as everyone else around them runs in fear to safety.
As a New Zealander its hard waking up and hearing it than figuring out its only telling you its just warning you "if you hear this sound get out of your house" or something
