Watching your video and just wanted to note that you don’t need a subscription to use the Hatch Rest. I don’t have a subscription and use it every night as a sound machine + nightlight with an automated routine. You only need a subscription for the “premium” features, but the basic features are more than enough. Also, you can easily reset the wifi network in the app settings. I’ve had to do it twice already because we had changes to our home wifi. Just wanted to let you know so that you can use it for travel! This is all for the 2nd gen Hatch Rest by the way, I’m not sure which one you have.

We used receiving blankets and swaddles for burp cloths. So much better for absorption and also didn't have to change out so frequently because they are bigger!

Burp clothes are such a waste! A friend recommended the pack of gerber cloth diapers. They’re bigger & more absorbent and as the baby gets older you can keep and reuse them around the house for dusting/cleaning. Win win in my book :)

Try Elvie Curve instead of Haakaa. It’s the same thing. I even used it while lying on the side by just turning it to be right side up and not on the side itself and the lightest, most stretchy bra was enough to keep it in place. I have both and elvie is definitely more user friendly

High chair with any fabric is ridiculous. 100% agree that they need to be super easy to clean. Bottle warmer along with wipe warmer are useless. They never work properly :).

For burp cloths get the gerber cloth diapers. They are the same fabric but are bigger.

Please be careful with the bath toys. Since it’s hard to rinse them out, they collect water and grow mold inside. Just a thought. There was a research about it, and they cut the toys 6 months after they’ve been introduced to the babies - they were all black on the inside. Hope this helps ❤

Yes, we're lucky to have a ton of family who were able to help us get what we needed. And we did end up buying a lot ourselves as well, I liked using my registry as sort of a check list! And nothing wrong with second hand! Congratulations on your baby! ❤️

The old school cloth nappies essentially a big hand towel but much cheaper make the best burp cloths

FTM here, been overwhelmed on how much things you “need to buy.” Is your baby sleeping in the same room? I am looking to get a mini crib unsure about the bassinet since she would just be a few steps away still. The first month I’ll be at my mother in laws and she has a bassinet there, but when I get back home I’m debating of getting my own. 😅

He’s not in our room anymore and was in a bassinet for a short while. If I was to do it again I would probably just assemble the crib in our room and then move it to the nursery at some point. But do what’s best for you! We had a crib, pack n play, and a bassinet. I don’t think that’s all necessary but I like to be over prepared and it helped me feel less anxious. And babies really don’t need much to begin with, but if it eases your stress then go for it!

We had a Graco pack n play and used it as the primary place for my daughter to sleep in. We also found the quality lacking. The mattress foam wore out in less than a year. So I think a Graco is fine if you're using it just for travel, but if you're also planning on the baby sleeping on it at home, I would splurge and buy a higher quality one.

This is so helpful!!! Just curious as another mom-to-be who knows absolutely nothing about babies... did you have any sleep sack or velcro swaddle type recommendations??

Yes! We used regular swaddles for a few weeks, but our baby was able to wiggle out so the velcro one's are much better! We loved these Halo sleep sacks for when he was a newborn amzn.to/4f0lLdB. And then transitioned to these Eray swaddles amzn.to/4cEErOy which he is still in. I loved them because you can remove the velcro part once you no longer need to swaddle their arms.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but with regard to sleep sacks, all I would recommend is have one (at least) that you can use for colder temps and one for warmer temps. I use my Kyte baby one in warmer temps and my Woolino one for colder temps. When my daughter is bigger, I plan to use th Halo for cooler temps:)

@@sarah-s9y8b That's a great suggestion! We keep our house temp very consistent so we didn't need the warmer option. But I would also suggest getting two of, each. We had a few accidents in the beginning and the dirty one didn't always make it through the was in time for bed.

@@sarahhemmila great idea. I have been so frustrated trying to find a good travel system but I'm not satisfied with any of them. The toddler seat seems so tiny and doesn't even recline all the way so this is a great idea!
