Yeah I’m not a fan of this one, at least not yet. And it’s almost entirely because of the chain-finger-things on the wings … I mean how can it fly when the finger that support the wings membranes disembowel every time it fight The rest of the body is ok, I like the color but it reminds me of a discolored Seregios Maybe I’ll change my mind when I see it in game but for now it’s the least favorite monster they show so far
The wing chains are an extended and flexible thumb that don’t have much to do with the wings also from what little we see Arkveld is a terrible flyer and prefers ground travel
For me arkveld is literally the best looking flying wyvern(if it isn't an elder) in monster hunter. If you show a picture like this 3:31 to an elden ring noob without the logo of monster hunter, he can definitely think that arkveld is a fromsoftware boss. Plus: arkveld is a cool monster name👍
I like his design- he looks like a cold biome Seregios His wings are- weird and I don’t like where his story is going with him killing everything- he’s coming across as an edge-lord monster like Magnamalo or Malzeno
@@RathalosWatch yes, flying wyverns with whips on their wings. they don't actually look all that similar to arkveld, but it is a previously frontier exclusive concept.
I think is like owls, smaller wings and yeah is heavy but Lot of him is just fur or something principally the tail, so maybe is easier than usual, also theres monsters like bazel that are so despropotionate but still flying, using strengh to fly is a thing in mh, weird but yeah xd
Arkveld is a very awesome desing and hope he have a awesome fight, like is a menase to the ecosystem, a full out nightmare that was contained and now theres going to be consecuences for his reborn, also whip wyverns was a thing in frontier, frontier is not canon but i want to see that they using the knowledge of frontier to make Arkveld and other monsters, or even the return of a whip wyvern that could be awesome!! Great vid rath!
It still gives off ukanlos vibes to me and im wondering if it could be ukanlos' ancestor, or perhaps its descendant. If that's the case, then we might be looking for another unclassified monster. Its been a while since we last got something like that
@@theadmiral4157 it is an unclassified monster if you read his official description on the official Monster Hunter Wilds website. It says his species is unknown, similar to gore magala
@@miriamemanueleforneris3701 have you considered joining our discord community ? We have many hunters discussing things like that and theories. I think you'd fit here is an invite link! discord.gg/hckGd9Bm
Arkveld Is my favorite, the bulky pale armored design, the Wing chains he has on arms are beatiful (His wings Remember the ones of the Doragyurosu from monster hunter Frontier). Even his face design Is wonderful. I Just love it
@@miriamemanueleforneris3701 i believe it's a sign of things to come. I think Capcom is embracing the MH frontier designs and are starting to bring them to the mainline.
I’d be so happy if we find out the chains are somehow unnatural / an addition to his body. Like he was chained to something, for some reason then learned to use them as weapons. The chains seem kinda unbelievable as is. MH may require some suspension of believe, but their designs almost always seem like something that could have evolved in world. There’s a bit of realism or believability. Less with this dude.
I think he is a solid addition to the flagship roster and I can’t wait to figure out what element he has been imbued with the only monsters that I think have a purple aura are Gore and shaggy and I’m pretty sure he does not have the frenzied status
@@RathalosWatch i know but I think we can not set it aside completly. I get why you did it but it would be unfair towards other designs if we just disregard realism for Arkveld and use intimidation which is a category basically tailored for him as not all monsters are supposed to be intimidating. In the end it boils down to preference and I do think he is really cool except the part where he flies without the presence of large enough wings. With his wingarea to bodymass ratio he should fly more like a bumblebee or hummingbird but I guess he wouldn't be as intimidating hence why capcom didn't do it that way. This is just my nitpick with Arkveld
@@RathalosWatch I just don't really think he would score all that high in the categories. This is a common theme in these videos, propuply just recency bias tho. I did 100% agree with the previous one tho, it might not have scored perfectly, and even tho he might be my favorite new monster, I agree with his placement. It might also just be that I just have to get used to him more, I felt the same when Rey was originally unveiled but he is a spectacular monster.
@@RathalosWatchI tried commenting earlier about my thoughts on Arkveld but it was deleted for some reason. I’ll just say it here. On the monster hunter channel, at Capcom live at 38:58, Arkveld’s theme can be heard. If you didn’t think he was already intimidating enough, listen to the segment that plays when the Arkveld and Rey Dau fight is happening. The violin is honestly haunting, never heard something like that in Monster Hunter!
I think he's a bit too small to be scary tbh ray dau looks bigger and in some ways stronger to me, i think their turf war will be a tie tbh Arkveld isn't even an elder dragon, so I'm kinda not impressed I give him a 7/10
ever faced a wolverine or a tasmanian devil ? You'd shit your pants regardless of how small they are , and thy mean real business. They'd tussle against apex predators such as wolves or dingos and even win . Also arkveld is actually bulkier than ray dau. the only thing that makes ray look bigger is its wing span. In my opinion he he instilled fear since his first appearance. Ffs , rajang is scarier than all of the mid tier elders and he's barely bigger than kirin. and lastly , rathalos and kushala were flagships and they're not even huge.
I don't quite like Arkveld so far, i believe that one of my "why"s might be the face, i'm not a fan of it That aside i belive he might grow on me once we get to see more of him
I'm sorry man, but this is NOT the most important metter atm for you to validate. Where's the OG fire chicken visual analysis? The GLORIOUS Yian kut kut? Still I find this one kinda strange, it's a Gore magala with anemia because he was chined up to something... I dunno how I feel about it yet. Maybe the fight is so great that makes him more interesting? I dunno
@@Builimacen oh trust me. I want to do a visual rating for yian kut kut really bad, but Capcom did not even upload an official render to their website. The 5 seconds we have of them is not enough, and I don't want to use older games as the footage as that would defeat the entire purpose. I'll be doing visual ratings for whatever they show publicly if there is enough footage of it and then, of course, all the actual Wilds monsters once the game comes out.
@@Dastardly_Duo The way he looks reminds me a LOT on how gore is. Big arms with wings on it and something on the head that (in gores case) are 2 hands and this one has 2 horns... Gore is black this one is white. Almost like Ying and yang. And from what I understood he was chained up to something and it got lose and started destroying the kid's vilage. But then again I'm just a hunter that cares about completing the mission and little else
@@RathalosWatch Yea I figured that and the fact it looks "edgy" I guess. But I think Gore gets enough praise. There are other monsters out there that deserve the spotlight as well
