@@samdoesarts yes sam 😭 everytime i am in an artblock i immediately come to your channel to get my motivation up again. like rn! And i am now fully charged and ready to pick up that pencil!
"tutor dong kak" is indonesian, loved the way you say it XD it means something like show a tut or show me tut, and "kak" is the shortened version of "kakak" a gender neutral term/pronoun for someone older than you in indonesian, thats what you usually call someone when you dont know their name yet/if theyre older than you.
yeah "tutor dong kak" is basically asking "please give me a tutorial" to someone you look up to and we often say "kak" even if we dont know if the person is older lol, just indonesian things ig
And it's true! The average human has the same number of hairs per square inch on their body as the average chimpanzee! (It's just that most of it is peach fuzz and thus barely visible.)
I think the "I can't draw black people, then learn" Tiktok was about people who either don't draw black people because they can't (which means they DO want to) or for people who don't make the effort to learn how to draw black people and do it regardless (which, depending on the artstyle, can do a lot) So "or just let people draw what they want" isn't really a valid argument, cuz they aren't telling others to draw black people lmao
Agreed. It reminds me of fandom spaces where fans will draw black and/or ethnic characters, and make no effort to learn how to represent their features. If you're in the process of learning and you're not there yet than that's totally fine! In fact it's great that you're trying to learn! But some people just don't care enough to even try.
It's so nice to see an art RU-vidr who recognizes and appreciates stylization instead of forcing their style onto everyone else. I've seen SO many other art RU-vidrs who rate others' art and even "fix" it by just... redrawing it in their style. It's nice how you reacted to the stylized art tutorials in a way that appreciated their style and didn't demand that everything be realistic or in one certain style. Edit: yes I am aware that he's currently under fire for same-face syndrome and stuff, but my comment wasn't talking about his style in his own art, I was talking about ONLY his reactions to the TikToks and how he didn't criticize them for not drawing in his style. Just to clarify.
The 3D eyes are actually super common in costuming and fursuits. They're just called 3D follow-me eyes! You can make them for all kinds of things, including really terrifying art installations covering a wall right before you invite your in-laws over.
5:14 “tutor dong kak” means can you give a tutorial please? Kak means sister, its a honorific, similar to miss but more casual. Tutor means tutorial, slang. ( might not be accurate since its indonesian, and i only know malay) 😅
That voice at 6:03 is the stuff of nightmares. So "lively" while being very emotionless. If I have to choose death vs watching a single Tiktok video I would immediately choose death. Thanks Sam for going through these tutorials, so that we don't have to. I really liked the eye one.
On the “cant draw black people” video I don’t think they meant to force anyone, they were just replying to people who complain about finding it hard to draw them, the comments took it too personal and got pressed
unfortunately there are also many people who think you should have characters representing every. single. group. or your some kind of racist/phobe. some people also get offended if you have characters with skin tones that don't match their features in reference to real world races or ethnic groups.
It feels very racist when artists complain that drawing black people or any other POC is hard. Why are ya'll using half the color pallet, you guys are supposed to be creative lmao
@@Link-kw5rg maybe some artists just don’t want to draw black people. And that’s just fine. We’re allowed to create whatever we want. I usually don’t make any of my characters any distinct race (any skin color but usually have chiseled or fair features), and I pretty much only draw fit men. Does that make me sexist or mean I’m discriminating against body types? No. It has nothing to do with creativity.
Ngl, i kinda started hating doing art for the past 2 yrs as it made me feel dumb for not being perfect enough. but slowly as i strted learning form Sam's videos and noticing details I've been able to regain that comfort i felt with drawing ✨🌱🌼 thank you !!!!
The girl isn't saying that you must draw black people Sam, she's just saying that people shouldn't complain about the fact that they can't draw black people when they didn't even try to learn. As a black woman, it's just annoying to see people act like that.
This! It’s so annoying because Art is ABOUT learning, you could be drawing for decades and still be able to learn more, refusing to expand upon your art doesn’t make you that good of an artist imo.
@@Real_ThatOnePerson she literally said "then learn" as a responce to "omg drawing black people is too hard". If you don't understand what she means (even when it's honestly not that difficult) maybe you should try to ask what she wanted to say. Those kind of comment like "drawing blk people is hard" are just a bad excuses that really don't help good representation of diversity in the art community.
@@rainbowquartz6228 I get what she said. but the comments literally just said "draw what you want" if you don't wanna draw black people thats fine. Sam did not do anything wrong though
@@Real_ThatOnePerson reed my first comment a second time. You don't have to reply "or maybe let people draw whatever they want" to someone who, again, didn't say that you must draw black people. It's the last time that I answer your comments because everything is in my first comment.
I think the randomness in the hatching is a cool stylization tool. I don't hatch with seperate hatches, I do zigzags, coils, circles, rectangles depending on the mood of the piece. To remove 100% of the white you need to combine the technique at 4:27 with the circular motions, So I figured out that if I go in a full circle with either of the hatching techniques I can make a fully black shading as if its done with a wider drawing tool.
He's more expressive in his video now and I love it thank you Sam for making me smile and teaching me art 😭😭😭 Marc Brunet at opening is so accurate 😂😂😂
Sam, please notice this. 5:02 is not an impressive drawing! Ylanast is a scam artist who pretends like they’re painting when in reality they’re passing an edited photo for a “painting”. And they profit from people who see their art and think it’s real and then purchase their brushes and commissions! Rin did a video exposing them, please check it out and don’t promote scam artists!
You have helped me learn so much and I have gotten so much better just because of you. If it wasn’t for you I would never be as good as art as I am now. Thank you so much!
On 3:48 that's actually a really good tip way better than circular motion coz it captures the direction of the planes you can still do circular for finishing touches if you like rather than starting with it. sam did not really give great advice there.
Ok so, just want to share some more knowledge on this amazing channel, bc I'm taking architecture classes that you need to take in highschool to go to the architect uni here in Greece and I ain't passing finals but I do still have the knowledge. So sometimes you want the cross effect that the pencil makes to darken surfaces or replicate a certain material, the way you control the angle of the pencil and strokes, the intensity your pencil has and the spaces you leave between each stroke play a huge role on the outcome you gonna get and the grade you will get. What I mean to say is you can change your style to fit the requirements of what you want to achieve and there is no completely right way for anything, especially in art. Oh and the pencils don't get that long of a point like the lady has, but at least half of it is needed for a comfortable vessel to work with. Thank you for making it till the end of this blabbering monologue I had and I hope you can be happy, healthy and achieve your goals! Love you sam and your videos, they really do inspire people!!!🐥💕
I always love watching new art roasts from my favourite RU-vidr, Batman! ❤💖💗 Thanks for the advice and the cool voice. You're my favourite superhero! (/j)
BAHAHAHAHAHA, the one that was like "tutor dong kak" is in bahasa! (The indonesian language) it's basically asking "Tutorial please teacher (or older sibling)", but the way you said it is absolutely hilarious to me
10:00 Despite Sam talking about furries the only time I’ve ever seen this hack before this is with fur suits I’m now going to instantly presume this user is a furry like the rest of us are 😔
