When Jesus gave his sermons about charity, when we recite the Beatitude, or when we tithe at mass that has nothing at all to do with the government or a system of government. These teachings are directed at the individual follower of Christ, not the governments of today or Jesus’ time. Jesus was not a political leader. Yes we are encouraged to give, be charitable, and tithe because it is kind and helpful, but we aren’t forced to do so as those suffering under communism are. Vladimir Lenin: “The goal of socialism is communism.”) is forced redistribution of wealth. 1 Corinthians 16:2 “On the first day of the week [Sunday] each of you should set aside whatever he can afford” key words being “whatever he can afford.” Jesus never says that you should be forced by the government to give away anything. But if you really want to be steadfast still and argue that Jesus was somehow communist and would approve of allowing a government system to force charity (that is the most basic function of communism), then you better be consistent and say that Jesus would also allow the government to force Christian evangelism. @@warpnin3 no. They are not. Google a victorian home. Some McMansions have a victorian style or a few features like a bay window or round tower thingy on the side, but for the most part, a McMansion is just a large spacious and cheaply made home with way too many pointless details.

I grew up in tx and these look like they are in the slightly more expensive side of every neighborhood I've ever lived in. I watched this video so confused cause I've never heard of a mcmansion but this describes any 2 story house in tx perfectly.

I’ve always seen huge houses on the outskirts of Birmingham ie Halesowen, I used to live in Surrey houses so big; especially Dulwich in London. It blows you away at first as the architecture is so beautiful. If you ever want to look at Uk mansion you could just go on a Uk property search and type in a high price

The most expensive houses in my town are historic homes that are beautiful, but it's also have unconstient architecture

America has such wide variety of architectural approaches, from mcMansions to Palm Springs and LA's utopian modernism. It would be boring to move everyone to a basic bungalow but I hate these poorly made architectural details referencing historical styles.. America, learn from modern spanish architecture! It has so much tasteful flair and originality!

@@rache5149 They're usually made with really cheap materials (and usually imitations of quality materials..like laminate that looks like wood or faux marble) which why they are so cheap for the size. The design elements (like windows, roofing, columns, etc.) aren't well thought out or functional. They are purely for appearance. Also, they aren't designed by the individual, but a housing development company. Building or remodeling a house is very expensive, and most people would say that custom-designing a house is a much greater indicator of wealth than buying a cheap, "one-size-fits-all" house. To some, McMansions are kind of like the house version of knock off designer purses. No hate to anyone who lives/lived in one though!

Same with my neighborhood in Chicago. I would be so bored if all the houses looked the same

@@jazmine9570 these houses were really cheap, I’m not sure if I would live in one or not but the size is huge for the price... I pay nearly as much in rent right now (when she showed us the price per month) for a three bedroom apartment in shanghai.

With size comes also the corresponding rise in utility costs and bills. And not necesserily going up just linearily. And those large places from my experience were at least propperly constructed old castles, wether medieval or baroque. Those places on the other hand might (not always) be smaller, but cheaply constructed. Not even talking plywood. OSB might be the outside wall material if you're lucky. Many will seriously even be made with cardboard sheiting products. Not even kidding. Ideally combined with perforated house wrap. (Otherwise the cardboard sheiting might be even the weatherproofing layer at the same time.) Also good with paper based flashing. The only way you could be worse off is hypothetically living in a place like some chinese cities and finding your tower concrete walls reinforced with strips of bamboo-stuff rather than rebar, even then I'm not sure.

in the richer areas, definitely. I used to deliver food to areas that were jammed full of these huge houses. some rural homes are mcmansiony too, but most homes i see are ranch style or just mobile homes

The cavernous entryways are always the most baffling to me. Literally what point is there to have a huge foyer that gets used for 3 seconds and only when you are inviting people into your house 🥴
