For everyone watching this, please keep in mind that this is a representation of someone's particular take on rationality and what that means for the process of becoming more rational (as a society). It is not a descriptive claim of what rationality IS. It does NOT mean that an act of altruism cannot be rational for instance, or that rationality is empirically studied solely in terms of calculation/logic/maths.
