It's an all-out battle as I fight to get my $400 Mercedes W124 Wagon started. I spent weeks re-wiring the engine bay, then found a SECOND rat in another car!! Mike look up solderstick. Its wire connectors that have solder in the middle. Would make your wire problem a little easier and faster and a waterproof connection.

Mike, great video as always. I had the same problems as you with rodents and tried traps, dryer sheets ect. Finally went on Amazon and purchased an ultrasonic under hood rodent repeller. Basically it’s a small box that emits some ultrasonic sound and flashes a bright LED every 60 seconds . It’s powered by a D size battery and it works great. No more rats or mice. The D size battery last about 3-4 months and it lets you know when it’s low on power. They cost about $25 . Thanks for the great content and I wish you continued success.

Kudos to you! Great idea. A very humane way to take care of the rat problem without killing them. The rat that he killed wasn't a wild rat. Wild rats are not blonde. That was a domesticated animal that was more than likely someone's pet that got out just like the last one. They were looking for somewhere warm because they're probably used to living inside a house that's climate controlled. Wild rats are always dark colors no such thing as a blonde wild rat

My cat brought me a rat at least that big one day. He dropped it on the hearth and then st down and looked at me like, "I brought you dinner, Daddy." Luckily, he had killed it before bringing it in. I would see him with a mouse almost every day, but that was the first rat. Blackie the mighty hunter! 😂😅😂

I was born in the hospital behind your house. Such a small world. Mice love them some Benz wiring. They made the coating with vegetable oil. Mice eat it up. Do you remember the TV shop owner Ray England? He shot his wife and then himself. Ray was a close family friend. My Dad worked for him for 40 plus years. I also worked there from 12 to 18 years old. Ray was a big car guy and took me to many car shows. He even let me drive his Packard down Yale.

Here in Andalusia we have cute little Palm rats partial to Mercedes . Not long ago at the first junction I encountered ,I discovered I had no power brakes.After the heart attack I discovered a small hole in the vacuum pipe to the brake servo. Check it very carefully before your first run!

Wver thought of going to the wrecking yards and looking at a parts car that has rhe engine removed, hopefully they didn't cut up the wiring, you could remove as much of it as possible to fix your car

Honda makes a rodent tape just for this! Honda Rodent Tape part 4019-2317. I've never used it, but find it hilarious it has a Honda part number. Keep up the good fight, Mike! Loving the wagon vids!

You really need to look at Legit street cars vid on the Delorean wiring issues, he used these solder infused heat shrink splicing terminals that make this very easy.

ducks will cause the rat problem in a built up area you need a lock up pen with concrete floor so you can keep it clean and hosed down

I caught a mouse in my house the old fashioned way. I put half a bag of tortilla chips down where I had seen him roaming. I waited until I heard the bag rustling and saw him inside eating the chips. I closed the bag, took it outside and threw it over a wall. The mouse is now gone and still alive and free. I HATE wiring with a passion. The only thing I have in common with electricity is the entire time I was growing up I was always grounded. The last thing that went through that rat's mind was a steel bar. It breaks my heart to see harm come to animals. The poor little guy was just trying to live his life. And why aren't you using solder stick?

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I feel so bad for rats and mice, they can't help being themselves. Like you said, just trying to live their life like all living things. It's their terrible bad luck that most humans hate them and want to kill them on sight. Wild animals have such hard lives, even without us trying to make it harder. Poor things. I hope those traps kill them quick so they don't suffer. 🙏🏻

Never realized they use soy and peanut oil, including other plant based substances that smell in the production of wires used in vehicles, and that's why they chew em up.

Peppermint oil us another repellant for rodents. they can't stand the smell. Try wiping wiring and rubber vacuum tubes with it. Another thing they find offensive is moth balls. A few small mesh bags with them in key areas might do the trick

Mike you can put stop too mice making home in your Mercedes. Spray rust proofing oil .you can buy spray can from crown rust proofing shop.mice never come near cars again.i do not if your area have this rust proofing place.also try spraying other oil spray on car wiring area and under side.

In all honesty, I think the rats are attracted to the ducks' food. Or on another food source. Wiring in a car is not food, rats can gnaw on it but cannot live on it.
