You are right on The Mark with that comment. You paid him the ultimate musical compliment by using Roy Orbison as a yardstick to compare him with... and he definitely deserves it with that voice. Sometimes I wonder why he isn't more wee known with that voice. God bless you
The Mavericks have sold millions of records ..14 billboard charted singles .. and Ralo is loved by millions more ..no one has ever heard ? I dont get it ...

@@keithjunot7005 I'm 51 and grew up on music from '70s, '80s and '90s, but I don't think I've ever heard the name Raul Malo. Perhaps I've heard his music (or that of the Mavericks) and just did not know, but I am sure glad I found him now!

Once in a lifetime God gives someone a great gift. A voice that is son unique. So beautiful that you never forget it. That someone is Raul Malo. His music is amzing.
Yes he can and does pull it off. One of my favorite musicians in the world Buddy Rich best drummer ever.... And he made a comment and said a musician should be good enough to play the show by himself if the rest of the band fails to show up... and Raul Malo is probably the only one who comes to mind who can do that.
Raul's voice is incredible and I love just about everything he does. He's covered Roy Orbison to great effect as well and I love it! The Mavericks are also some of my favorite music so this is just cake icing.
Not a lot of people can sing like this where they have only a guitar and so much music in their voice it seems like a whole band. Love this guys voice...
I don't understand why this guy isn't much popular he has a great voice. I have a lot of his music and am continually surprised that people don't know who he is. There are a lot of people out there on top who don't have the the talent that Raul has. I found him by accident and have been a fan ever sense. I would like you to make it big Raul.
I bought 4 tickets to take my daughter, my son and his wife to Ponta Gordo Beach, Fla. to see The Mavericks, it was on my birthday, I thought I would surprise them, They surprised me, they said, "Daddy, that is a Thursday, we have to work that day." Sadly, I dropped my head and said, Oh." Ain't the first time I mess up. But later they said, OK Daddy we made arrangements to be off. Boy1 My day just got better. When we got there, Raul was starting to sing, He sang the whole 2 hours, with a 5 minute break in the middle. It was shoulder to shoulder, standing only. My daughter took my hand and we started snaking our way towards the front where a rail was all that separated up from the stage. We got to the second row from the rail. A gracious Lady turned around and said, "Come on in front of me, I am so tall you can't see past me. Now we were holding the rail. Thanks sweet Lady. When the show ended, all of the musicians left the stage, all except Raul, he started at one side of the stage and actually reached down, took each hand and shook it. When he got to us, he shook our hand and smiled, I was already a Maverick Fan, but that hand shake and smile cemented it. Thanks Raul, and thanks to my daughter, my son and his wife. They have never let me down.
This is one of my all time favorite songs, so simple yet so amazingly powerful. Raul is a gift to all of us!!!! Every time I hear the words it focuses me on what is so important in my life. Oh, to have a friend, lover or partner that says "you can call out my name, when Your Only Lonely" is a treasure most never find.
Raul and John David Souther both have remarkable natural light tenor voices of a rare clarity. not common anytime, but especially uncommon in today's popular music..Beautiful!
I have the cd by J.D. Sother and he sings this beautifully with accompanying music. Raul is blowing this song out of the water without the music. How many of today’s singers could do this? Not many, if any. Raul Malo king of music.
Raul drops me in my tracks whenever I hear him sing. He is the most under rated singer of today. He DRIPS Talent. Raul sings from the deepest parts of his heart and soul....to the deepest parts of OUR Hearts and Souls.
Wow. I first heard Raul with the Mavericks at the Ryman Auditorium when they were new to Nashville-probably 15 or so years ago. He has one of the great voices of contemporary music. Just beautiful.

Not to mention he plays the guitar part flawlessly while belting out the most beautiful rendition ever. Wow, just wow! He needs a duet with Laura can't remember her last name Paussini .....she sang Quando Quando w Michael Buble. Her tone is like his, nobody better.
