Rav4 Battery Replacement, Toyota 2006-2012 Easy! Step by step 

Thank you very much for the video. I never would have figured out how to get those plastic rivets off in order to get the forward holder bolt off. I have a 2012 Rav4 and just had to replace the battery today. Lasted 11 years, not bad. You saved the day. Thanks again.

This is the best step by step video for changing out the battery for the RAV4. My wife has a 2012 RAV and the setup is just like yours. I did well until time to put the pushpins back in place. I tried everything short of breaking the pins but could not get the center piece retract. You saved the day with that diagram and explaining how to separate the arms first and then the center pin pops up. I never would have figured this out, and would be in beg trouble. Thanks to you the job is completed. Thumbs up!!!!

OMG, you confirmed it for me. Very unlike Toyota to have created such a stupid design to where you have to remove that plastic cover. And I like the idea of cutting a hole for any future replacements.

I’ve used your videos a few times and they’re super helpful, but unfortunately I connected the terminals in the opposite order due to your saying at the beginning of the video that the negative should be reconnected first. The result was that the positive terminal on my new battery melted. It might be wise to make the correction to the video both times you say to put on the negative first. I’ll find out tomorrow whether I did any other damage. 😬

Does anyone know where to find a guide to changing the battery terminals for a RAV4 08? I can’t for the life of me find anything. Its got a weird set up that uses a fancy terminal and I have no idea if I can just buy any old one and follow the videos I’ve found on RU-vid
