Exactly. No matter how good or bad the teams are, the games are close and low scoring most of the time. Many forget about how the rivalry has been. John and Mike have been the HC's of the 2 teams for awhile now and I believe both are stuck in their ways when game planning and coaching vs the other team. Their are ravens fans who want John fired and steeler fans who want Mike fired
Well it was a smart move though since the only way they would still have any hope was if Watt fumbled the ball and the Ravens recovered. Tackling him would just setup a kneeldown to end the game.
Typical Steelers’ defensive win in the final minute. Baltimore will look back at their decision to go for it on 4th down instead of kicking the field goal near the close of the 1st half
That throw @1:30 is why they didn’t want to pay what they payed for Lamar Jackson…that was just bad, back shoulder throw low and on the inside where only the defense could catch it. Ravens overpaid for Lamar Jackson and it showed today
Trust me, that 4th down was not the reason they lost. Left well over 30 points, if not 40, out there today, then their superstar QB chokes the game away when it matters.
AB returned punts for us and it was amazing. Why can't we use Pickens back there? I feel like he would do well there. Idk. Even Warren maybe (until he takes Najee's job)
@@Bird_814not pickens but Austin. He’s literally one of the fastest players in the league. And already seen what he can do in the return game. But gunner needs to fuckin go
Tough to say. I think his change of pace from Harris trying to dance at the line is what gives him great opportunities. I do think he needs more touches tho. @@Odd1006
TJ Watt looking like another MVP year. The Steelers definitely played more physical in this game than the ravens. Winning six of the last seven against the ravens.
As a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan I enjoyed the Steelers and Ravens game more than any recent Browns game! Browns on a bye week. My observations are my respect to both of these teams as their head coaches are excellent. Steelers defense is excellent and so is the Ravens! I did question that the ravens did not get points before the half. I can see why Steelers fans don’t care for there OC. Congrats to both teams. I enjoyed the game immensely!
I am a dyeheart Steelers fan for over 60 years and they always amaze me. But I also love and cheer on the Browns they were my dad's favorite when the famous Jim Brown was on the team. What a great player he was carrying a whole team with him on his back for a touchdown. Thanks for the memories.
The highlights say it all. Our offense didn't show up until the last 3minutes. 57 minutes of our defense saving us. And Mike is gonna say "it's tough afc north football well take a win" and Canada has a job for 3 more weeks minimum.
The offense showed up in the last 3 minutes PRECISELY because Matt Canada was not calling the shot, but the QB. It's like Ben's final year, played horribly for most of the game while defense kept the team afloat. Then, they win with the 2-minute game winning drive because Ben was totally in charge.
It's been a very good one and both Tomlin and Harbaugh have been the 2 HC's for awhile now. I think the 2 have gone against one another the second most now of any 2 HC's in NFL history. They both are old school HC's and stuck in their ways. They both keep doing things the same way they did back during their first few seasons as HC's
Typical Steeler football, lose by multiple scores by a team you were favored to beat but beat the team who you were favored to lose against the next week
@@SergioRamirez-jw6wq Shanahan system is gimmick football. The Texans and 49ers schemes are built to win 30-7 in the first month of the season and fade in December.
@@ii-kingfancy-ll3915i could see his point we dont have a real offensive coordinator and all 5 games were winnable with a real offensive coordinator🤷🏾♂️
I don’t know. The Jets-Broncos Hackett-Wilson Bowl looks to be the prime candidate. Would see which one Tree pick as both games definitely deserve a spot.
Steelers vs Ravens is more baffling than how the Browns continue to fail spectacularly year after year. Ever since the Immaculate Extension, I will not doubt that a Steelers-Ravens game is gonna be batshit crazy.
It's just how the rivalry is and look now at how long John and Mike have been the HC's of the teams. They've had their battles. They both seem stuck in their ways when preparing their team and coaching vs the other team. I've seen both fan bases wanting their HC fired
Not just that, they still have not finished rebuilding the o-line. They for sure need to draft another 1 to 2 o-linemen in the draft. I'm hoping a center big time in 2024. If they can add another 2 top o-linemen to join Jones, it will be huge and help out Kenny a lot and the run game. That is a huge priority and important. Then add a few other pieces to the offense. Some are calling Kenny a bust already but I believe he at least deserves a chance with a better OC first and a better o-line.
This game was a festival of emotions. I was at my sister's house watching the game. We're both in a football pool and I had the Steelers and she had the Ravens. She was giving me flak for picking the Steelers and when the Ravens blew the lead, she was just about silent. I kept telling her a lot can change in a short amount of time and the Ravens could come back. I got pretty lucky here with the Steelers holding on.
Not only did Picket put that TD right in Pickens’ pocket, but he made two big time throws to convert third downs earlier in the drive. The first throw was under pressure, but he slid into the only place where he could get it off cleanly. The second throw was perfect down the sideline. If only Picket hung in the pocket like that during the rest of the game instead of just the fourth quarter. Great to know he has it in him tho.
he doesn't, they score 10 ppg, that's not even close to a good offense whatsoever, he makes a lot of dmb decisions and mistakes, he does not got it in him...
Kenny didn't turn the ball over, had positive completeion %, and got a TD. It wasn't pretty but it was definitely efficient. We need to move the ball downfield, idc how good a secondary is. Good QBs can dissect and find gaps in any defense, any given Sunday. I won't give up on Kenny but the 3-and-outs and CONSTANT short yardage plays are getting extremely old. Warren is a great RB and should get majority snaps aside from short yardage, which Najee can handle with ease. GP is HIM, with good routes and good QB play he could be a superstar. Defense played hard. All-in-all, not a bad game by any means but it wasn't great. Hard fought win.
Canada did not call that pickens touchdown, u could see on his face he’s probably the only one in the entire steeler organization that didn’t celebrate, f Matt Canada!!!
Great win but we need serious help on offense like NOW. We can't keep relying on the defense to ALWAYS show out, they need some rest every now and then.
That's how these games are under Tomlin and Harbaugh. They both keep doing and coaching their teams the same way each year. I think they now have gone against one another the second most now of 2 HC's in history of the NFL
Its really difficult to evaluate games, when you know , the coaching staff sucks. The players each game have to try and win, with one hand tied behind their backs. Even the completions we did have, the receivers were covered. Like every other week, im watching the orhwr teams receivers open by yards.
God watching this makes me so grateful to be a niner fan right now. They make everything look so effortless while these teams look like this is their first game ever lol
@@drewfinn5369 But there is a difference, back then the niners were basically bankrupt with no way to afford talent after the Montana/Young years. The Steelers have plenty of talent, and plenty of money, just political problems.
@@drewfinn5369 The Rooney's. The Steelers need an overhaul from the front office down I expect. And the Rooney's won't fire Tomlin. The Rooney's are too tight with their money. They like to draft talent with a rookie contract, then sell when the player demands elite pay. They can get 2 to 4 years from a rookie contract, then sell high and do it again. They make money this way, but it doesn't help the team.
Another win, another excuse to keep Canada. I’ll always be happy with a win, but this team is getting carried by our defense right now. Get Pickett some help!
Props to Williams on the pursuit after the fumbled punt return. If Ravens score a TD there it's probably all over. Still looked hopeless but he kept things alive and then miracles happened.
The long pass down the field was a good play call cause everyone was thinking run or a short pass gutsy but worked and a Good pass by Pickett hit him him in stride
It’s because they play their ASSet’S off and when teams collectively give a shh it things tend to happen in your favor…call it luck fait or whatever, it starts and ends with hard work
INSANE ENDING? WHAT'S INSANE IS HOW HORRIBLE THE RAVEN RECEIVERS ARE. THEY DROP PASSES THAT LITTLE LEAGUE GUYS WOULD MAKE, THEY FALL DOWN IN THE OPEN FIELD WHILE RUNNING PASS PATTERNS WITH NO DEFENDERS AROUND THEM, ETC...IF THIS TEAM IS TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS, LAMAR IS GOING TO HAVE TO GET SOME HELP
And the Ravens' inability to catch the football. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy the Steelers won this game, but the Ravens dropped two surefire touchdowns and should have easily had AT LEAST 14 more points. 3-2 going into the bye week is great, but the Steelers had no business winning this game.
@@officialzacht Defense definitely won the game against Cleveland and arguably Vegas. They pretty much got carved up in the other 3 games though. If Baltimore hadn't been constantly shooting itself in the foot, this game would have been as ugly as the 49ers or Texans game. The defense did make some big plays at the end of the game, but they played pretty badly for most of this one.
@@Rynos8771 The last few seasons the special teams have come up with some huge plays that have resulted in big wins. Not saying that the steelers aren’t fucking horrible, but damn that special teams can come up huge in tight moments.
It took Terry Bradshaw years to develop with good coaches and o-line.....and people screamed to get rid of Bradshaw too. Pickett actually looks better than Bradshaw did the first year. Perfect strike from Pickett for 6 in the 4th today and a couple dimes for 70 yard TDs in recent weeks, come from behind drives, etc show there's great potential. All things considered, it's amazing he's been able to do anything in this train wreck of an offens. 7-2 down the stretch last year and 3-2 this year isn't bad. This isn't fantasy football. A win is a win.
As a Browns fan I wasn't going to be happy with either team winning. But it was so much fun watching the Ravens lose in such a brain dead way that I'm less unhappy that the Steelers won. Plus! At 3-2 and beating an AFC North rival, it has an added bonus that it'll be used as an excuse not to fire Matt Canada. Which they really should do which I'm happy they're not. Damn near a win win game here for the Browns on a bye week.
The Ravens are the most unpredictable team in the NFL...The often lose games they should win and many times barley win games they should. Then, at times they look so good they look unbeatable......Consistently inconsistent..
Think of it this way if your offense of the Steelers. If you can come up with 24 points a game, even 21 points, with that defense you will probably win 75% of your games. Any competent OC in the league can somehow, with those weapons mind you, figure out how to get to 21 points. Yet we linger in anguish as Steeler fans knowing if the defense doesn’t play great we have no chance!
I'll bet it's truly sad and infuriating that the only competent offense the Steelers ever get to see in a game - is directly across the field at their opponents' offense.....
What's terrible is the whole offensive scheme. Canada seems to not be putting in any of the shifts, motions, and route trees he's been known for - and is simply just relying on the old Steelers/Fichtner playbook, but with just a few adjustments. Obviously it's horrible. Put Najee (or Warren) behind any other OC (even with the same Oline) and they'd be a dual-headed monster of yards and TDs. Put KP and our WRs, TEs, and Mr. Versatile (ie: Connor Heyward) into any other offense designed by a commpetent OC and their yds, TD, and PPG will skyrocket. As it is right now, I HOPE that they're not allowing Canada to call anymore games and they'll just let him sit in the booth and watch someone else design and call the plays.....
I was thinking the same thing! Terry Bradshaw took a few years to develop and he had top coaching and solid O-line. Far more picks than TDs as well....and he turned out pretty good! The fans wanted to get rid of him too. People are too impatient now days. And I think fantasy football has warped a lot of minds. Lots of other NFL QBs who aren't throwing a TD every play. Geez. Pickett is what......10-4 in the last 14 games. And he'll get better.
I happened to see pickens touchdown on TV at R&R Bait and tackle as I was going fishing at Buckeye Lake on Sunday afternoon and I was like yeah go Pittsburgh take that ravens what I would give to see the Ravens lose four in a row and fall out of first place and then see the Browns get first place
Those were probably the Jack a$$ children of the Jack a$$ fans that were screaming to get that bum Bradshaw off the team during his early career. Bradshaw took four or five years to develop And that was with great coaching and great o-line. Pickett is coping with a trainwreck of an offense right now. Give it time. Consider the 7 and 2 record down the stretch last season and 3 and 2 so far this year.......10 and 4 isn't so bad, all things considered.
Despite their horrible performance against the Texans, something inside told me the Steelers would find a way to spaghetti away a win Sunday. And here they are, in first place
The best part of this was Matt Canada had called for a run up the middle which might have gotten 2 yards at best but Pickett called for the RANDY audible which is a tribute to Randy Moss and he threw the TD to Pickens. Matt Canada was humiliated. At this point, Pittsburgh could replace him with a dog and be better off.
