Meet Ravi.
He has been living with recurring non-invasive multi-focal bladder cancer for five years.
After always leading a healthy and active lifestyle, he was shocked when he was diagnosed with bladder cancer at just 45 years old.
He had noticed blood in his pee and decided to go and visit his GP, despite having no other symptoms. A series of checks quickly showed he had bladder cancer.
It has been five years since his initial diagnosis, and since then, he has had 16 tumours, two rounds of chemotherapy and several surgeries.
“Bladder Cancer is with me for life. But it is manageable,” he says.
Ravi is now an advocate for Fight Bladder Cancer and is determined to help other patients and raise awareness of the disease. If you see blood in your pee, see your GP!
Watch him speak about his journey with bladder cancer and his advice for patients.

I have fought bladder and kidney cancer for 17 years. I was diagnosed in 2006 and lost 1 kidney in 2007. I then went to surgery to remove the tumors and began BCG treatments for the bladder cancer. The tumors disappeared. Then a 5 year check up period and in the 5th year the tumors returned. Once again surgery and BCG treatments and another 5 year check up period. Again more tumors in the 5th year. For the 3rd time the same. But this time at the end of the 5th year I was clear. I went on living my life until the 6th year and the cancer returned with a vengeance. I went through so many surgeries I have lost count and have experienced more pain than I ever dreamed a human body could handle. This last time (4th) I lost my bladder and prostate and the BCG would not work. The pain was 10 worse than before. I am 68 years old now and suppose to be cancer free once again. The one thing I know for sure is I am done with surgeries, CT scans, MRIs, Chemo or any other kind of treatments. I have had sooooo many cystoscopys I could do them myself. I have seen the amount on bladder cancer paintents more than quadrouple in those 17 years. It is PURE HELL!!! It not only turns your life upside down, but inside out as well.

Thanks Ravi. That was a very reassuring video. I too went through (am going through! ) a very similar experience to you. I was diagnosed 6 years ago when I was 65 and have had 3 ops in total since. It is always worrying going for the check-ups, but having a negative one is a great feeling! It is a lonely world though, and no one around wants to talk about it. So, your video will be very helpful for newcomers to understand our feelings. We'll done and good health

You are a nice man and are very lucky you caught this early.I had T2 Muscle invasive Grade three i kept my Bladder but never found any support groups that had anyone in my same situation. So I had the Three point Seven Centimeter Tumor removed did seven weeks Chemo and thirty seven Radiation treatments. That was ten years ago. Now its just wait until next time but they already told me the outcome of that but I accept whatever happens because i got more time than others i know that had the same.Just keep your kids from worrying about you and tell them you are fine because its very scary for them.

He talks nicely. Lucky he could go to see a urologist. Here in Canada, 6 million have no family doc. and one needs a referral to a urologist from the family doc.
