As of right now not well. I am exporting the shots from this session right now, about 10 min of video total, have about 7 hours left on the render (so I can put a video out tomorrow!) I am using After Effects, Davince is considerably faster but isn't working properly for some reason.
Just getting initial testing, but from the couple clip,s yes it's a huge difference. But it really depends on what you are doing. Just for fun, showing on RU-vid? Then probably not. Clients that are currently happy with footage that isn't Raw - then probably not. You want the best image, with the most latitude, or have clients that need it, then yes it's worth it. I may end up shooting in ProRes more than CinemaDNG for workflow reasons. Right now I am still waiting for my clips from yesterday to finish converting. A 1min 13sec clip, on my MacPro took about 2 hours to export from After Effects.
Any chance you could make the original cDNG footage downloadable somewhere? I'd love to try opening up the shadows and seeing how much latitude there is before running into the noise floor.
+micdogg187 no - conversion in camera raw was it with a lens profile applied for distortion correction, very light noise reduction which was really needed
+MrJun909 dark in areas yes (muddy to me would mean no detail, lots of color noise, etc) , I want to get a scene where the highlights would be maxed as well as shadows - detail all throughout though
Amazing quality, but i noticed something in the video maybe just maybe the lens was dirty or maybe a hair was on the lens, i saw a white shadow in the middle or might be my fuking eye im going blind
Gary Allison the camera shoot 5.2k but your probably going to edit in no more than cinema 4K and uhd isn't technically 4K so RU-vid recently changed it to 1440 and if you upload in cinema 4K it will then say 4k
Dawson Boyle RU-vid now allows and plays back at 5K as well. That update to their playback capability came online a few weeks back, and you can now also directly upload Apple ProRes directly to the platform. This is a 27sec, 5.2K ProRes 422 file
BillNicholsTV yes I am aware of 5k playback but some people may not be able to watch with mb limitations, and internet speed. Also I think it can go up to 8k as well. Also great footage if you want to check out my channel I processed a sample raw sequence from djis website I have a couple more and I think they turned out great.
It's working now. I think it might have been on RU-vid's side. I think the lower res versions are available for viewing before the higher res ones are.
In Google Chrome available 2880p, in Safari only 1440p. Some oldest videos possible to see in 4k in safari. But RU-vid some time ago start to processing differently 4k/8k files and some browsers (like Safari) just can't handle that codec. Video looks great BTW
