Yooo thank you for making these videos it's awesome to watch somebody as skillful as you work your process I've learned a lot just watching your videos. And by the way that piece looks f******dope. Much love from the USA
I used to like doing the outlines, but recently i found myself enjoying so much doing the blocks thanks to all the stuff i've learned watching your videos.. Thanks for the detailed comment about the freestyle rules for the design of the letters. I've come to that "rules" idea too recently and the way you explained it give some clarity to the point. Amazing video this one too!
Don't forget the simple black and white piece. Would love to watch another raw video on that. Really enjoy these long raw recordings with commentary. Just the sound of spray cans and the voiceover. Thanks for sharing!
A nicely balanced wall, The colors work well too - I`m happy that yours was in the middle otherwise the wall wouldn't have worked so well. Its fun to hear you talking when you paint - you have so many unique names for things - Blinky stars as an example - A good days work
For more than 30 years I use only ONE cap, in the past was really difficult to find a shop in Vienna to can buy different caps!!! Jet no problem as all
I think a drop shadow is a special (simpler9 type of cast shadow where the shadow is offset by the same distance everywhere. So it looks like it hovers over the background. If the shadow would be casted on another object, it wouldn't be a drop shadow anymore. At least that's my understanding. I was writing 20 years ago and can't really remember anymore what I liked best. Probably 3d blocks and shadows. I really hated messing up outlines and I probably made them too thin anyways. When I watch graffiti videos now, NY fat cap outlines look so satisfying to me.
yeah, you are right about the shadow thing. 😂 and fatcap outlines are soo nice to watch, but most times the process is more impressive than the result 😂😂
Not 2 b a contrarian but I actually love doing fills, colors & the blending of them is truly the dopest part of piecing imo; I want it to look like I’m living in a Mario Bros. game #Brilliant #Colors ☮️🎨💜
all i can say is: there is no good graffiti, there is no right way, there is no goal, it is and always was about happiness. Painting is absolutely useless if you do it for others opinion. I did not choose that graffiti letters make me happy like nothing else. but this is why i paint them. if i could choose what makes me happy I would love to be a tiler, or a plumber or something that people really need, hahaha. but i go the way my heart tells me. my opinion about your sketch is absolutely useless. 😊
@@SMOENOVA don’t burn yourself out , if it’s not fun it becomes work , it’s about getting a good balance of life if your one with your inner unicorn 🦄 then life’s good 😂if not you just get the horn 👀
RU-vid has always paid long vids more , and you were correct, it's because of the watch time. Obviously my fellow viewers watch your vids without skipping any part because you share knowledge that is very interesting and useful. So the youtube bots see that the viewers aren't skipping any parts which in conclusion leeds the bots to think that your vids are flawless.
The analysis of the sketch is amazing (also The sketch is amazing to be honest). As you know i love to have an analytic look At letters in general, and i LOVED yours. In my opinion People have to understand that there are rules, Force points, Force Lines, a whole big study behind The letters. Thanks for showing us your Point of view and your knowledge, smoe!
my favorite part of painting when i was active was a tually the shadows/drop shadows, 3d, whatever it's called now. We didn't have such good paints or tips back then so we used to take NY thins and sorta "wrist mist" it over edges in layers of colors in edges of shadows, then carefully go and cut back with the outline color to make it appear like it was solid shading no matter the contour.
@@SMOENOVA I am so surprised to see how things have changed. I'm shocked by the amount of paint, tips/caps options now. We could never have dreamed of such things in the 90's in the US. We were still using tire cleaner caps for fats most of the time
Love the play by play of what’s going on in your head as far as symmetry, point-symmetry, mirroring, asymmetry and irregularities as you work out the shapes of your pieces, such great insight to your artistic process, it’s beautiful that you not only are capable to sharing your art pieces as a whole but also sharing with us then individual thought processes that guide your art flow, so cool, love your stuff, thanks for sharing!
I've always been a huge fan of graffiti... I just never knew or felt I could never learn.... You have helped me so so much... Ty for sharing with people how to do this.....ty!
The way you did your old style binking stars at the top of the piece is how I do mine. Ive never seen anyone else do them like this until now. I actually adopted this technique from doing space and galaxy spray paintings on canvas. I find it just looks so cool and it wasnt something i was ever shown. I just figured it looks cool n kept doing them that way. But thank you Smoe for showing me how to do the new style blinking stars. I was going to do them on a piece i did last night but wanted to watch this video first to make sure Im doing them right. I learn so much from watching your videos Smoe. Keep delivering the great videos! 💯🔥🔥🔥
That’s such a dope wall. Well done y’all. Love that you document each phase of these to show people how complex these can be to layout and complete so flawlessly. Mad respect.
I got invested in graff over lockdown. If it wasn’t for your channel I’d probably more focused on “getting up” than high quality work. Your sketching style (in terms of can control) is something i have learned to lean heavily on. I’d been rushing my lines for months until I found your channel. I always appreciate the great content/inspiration/motivation
Great work, I think it's the extra ads that are put in your longer uploads that earn you the extra revenue. If others copy your work without asking, I think teacher Smoe should be allowed to critique their work and point out all of their mistakes. It would be a way to get money from your work. And teach others.
I dont like this kind wildstyle but ya make so nice vids and your skills to do what ever with spraycans! I still write and now i delivery your chanel and but thump up. Cause its nice to see how you use same tools but very different way and i can see tha ya love what ya are doing! Respect from Finland! Keep ya shit real ;)
So dope!!! Peace Homie. I have a question about a handheld camera video. I only have my iPhone. But a lot of times I need the iPhone to look at the reference art. What do you recommend to record yourself painting. So you can also use your smart phone. Something under $500. Thanks.
Dude haha, cap discussion? In 1986 we had one can and one cap... the one we could get our hands on! Lol!! Try doing your entire piece on a panel with sparvar cans... Most writers in 2022 would hate that experience, you guys don't know how easy things have become.
yes, exactly. i started 2001 with hardware store cans 😂😂 it is all possible. this is why i think the discussion about the “best cap” is pretty useless, as it is all about the handling 😂😂
@@SMOENOVA I do have to say that it can make a big difference what cap you use but in the end it is indeed all can control. I like the orange over those dull red tones, brings it alive!
it's awesome that you got to have your work in dying light 2. I just found that out from this video because unfortunately I have not got the pleasure of playing dying light 2 yet.
I like how thoughtful you are when you are painting. You developed principles for your style that work well when it comes to freestyling. The space, color, balance, and design come out on point. Keep at it bro!
I love it all, dont feel like you need cardboard at all. You got the can control. I just see it as the angles and well, focus on cuts, witch you are already doing. anyway. still Dope! The Ma Claim cap seems to help with any type of close cuts. I also like the MTN Universal Yellow Cap “Banana cap”.. I get the most control with that. and the yellow logo cap for thick, power lines. Props! You always kill it, just chatting about caps! Much respect always! ( no cardboard needed, you do all the lines anyway!)
🙏🙏🙏 there have been dudes out there who made notes while seeing my videos 😂😂😂 but i do not suggest to do so, because otherwise you will notice that there are about 15 tips, that i repeat over and over again.
I love your outlook on art and the knowledge of art. I feel the same way if I can pass on art to someone and spark an interest or idea that can help people to create something amazing then I would be happy to see we can help each other in this art community. Art can be so many things and that is something amazing. It can relieve stress, help someone come out of depression or just simply be relaxing. It talks to some people and is just cool to look at for others. I love to see people’s creative minds on an art piece. It says so much about a person. It is so interesting how everybody has such different views, perspectives, ideas etc.
I found it hard to read the specific text but I found myself contemplating which is what art does There’s no rules in art- “I didn’t become a vandal to follow more rules.” David Choe
Absolutely amazing video, love all the great information and knowledge willing to be passed down. I am new to this world and love that it’s so inviting.
Love this style of video. Excited to watch along. Thanks for the hard work. I cant imagine how many gigs of data you must have had to go through to put this all together. Cheers!
@Smoe... What are the rules that you apply to your pieces. I am interested in the details that you base your pieces on and the restrictions you put on yourself during your pieces.
not going to lie to you bro not really a big fan of your letter styles . but your techniques n your painting ability its top notch . plus you come off as such a peaceful n positive person . that gained my viewership keep rocking out bro
I feel like it’s Christmas morning and Smoe is Santa every time I see a new video drop haha. Christmas has come too soon! And I couldn’t be happier :-p
You discuss so many topics, there are so many questions... you could do the premiere of video as live stream so we can directly answer your questions and have discussion.
It's not competitive and not judging one over another, but generally it's easy to see that Smoe just operates on another level of skill and creativity. You make it look easy. Great video.
The way you dripped the background color all over your friends newly finished piece is just….. that’s a good friend right there just not get mad and accept that as how the piece was supposed to turn out
These are my favorite videos of yours. I learn a lot from them, seeing your entire process. I really like the commentary as well. Even the random rants. It's almost like a podcast. Thank you Smoe! You always inspire me to paint more! ❤❤🙏🙏✌✌🎨♥️♥️🐧
much love and respect to you and your channel smoe. I hope that all is well for you and your family and friends. I love all your work and your artwork and your videos man. thank you for what you do and everything you have done and your contribution to art and RU-vid.
thanks for the positive and nice comment! i enjoy reading comments while the whole fam is already sleeping in the caravan 🙏 - we do a small weekend vacation!
