Honestly Elon is a national treasure and he should have the full backing and help from the American people. He is killing himself for us and we don't appreciate him enough.
Milen Dimitrov There’s a reason the US has the best talent in the world. Elon chose to develop his companies here, and has the backing of the Government whereas other countries didn’t see the potential.
@@lovewilliams4500 yeah he also has eidetic memory so I think the reason he looks up is that. I get super annoyed when people bug him and say he cant talk.
@@kimjongun3890 I know about his memory. Looking up is not the problem. In fact, a lot of us do that from time to time. He is not a good speaker. Regardless of where is eyes wonder off to. Elon is probably not reading this. So I doubt that what I write bugs him.
This is a Nice video,Do anyone here knows about Expert Mrs Jane, Mrs Jane is legit and her method works like magic I keep on earning every single week with her new strategy
I can't believe that Time Magazine listed people like Cardi B and Ariana Grande as the most influential people of 2019 yet they didn't even mention him 😔
There’s many people or corporations who’s products or inventions have the biggest impact or influence but because most people who read or pay attention to certain information outlets are a certain age or are interested in certain “things” newspapers, articles... tend to focus on pop culture figures because unfortunately that’s what the majority (non intellectuals) tend to follow or invest their time on.
I loved his baseball analogy, it was pretty eye opening personally, understanding how Elon personally sees a failed launch (strike one), he’s looking at the batting average.
Elon: "The Chinese economy will probably be at least twice as big as the US economy." General in the control room: "Ok time to wrap up this up... cue the soft jazz...."
Yes, and why? Elon is influential because of his accomplishments not his speech. Normally the lying stream media would barbecue someone like him for his speech patterns. But his successes would make anything they could say about him seem stupid.
Oh never mind about that Steven guy? Steven Hawkings just made the physics and equations that are needed to make what Elon does possible. Steven Hawkins is certainly up there for the greatest mind of this century. I love Elon and I like how he gives credit where credit is due. I love the great men and women of this century that pushed to break barriers and push the limits so that up coming innovators like Elon and the next generation of geniuses will have a great start in technology on every level due to the great men and women that paved the way for men like Steven Hawkins and Elon Musk to push the envelope for the good of humanity. The next generation is going to have a great start because of these men and women like Elon that have done the hard work for them so they can get on the good stuff right away. I’d like to thank Elon’s wife and Children for sharing himself with everyone so this world would be better . To your children- hey have shared their Daddy with everyoneyour kids will see that their father has done this for them and the future of mankind. They will understand all of this one day
Thank god for this man moderating, he is so good at handling Elon and giving him the best opportunity to get his thoughts out and still keep a sense of direction LOL. Love them both
I love how serious he is about these big dreams that people laugh at and only think of as sci-fi fiction. He really wants to make what we’ve seen in comics and movies real, and shows us it’s not impossible. Dude is dead serious about star fleet and making it like Star Trek even though people laugh. I love it.
@@vihreelinja4743 the pursuit of space exploration reaps many great benefits. If you think about the pursuit of space exploration, it really is the pursuit of understanding physics and the laws of nature, and just incredible feats of engineering. Aside from my curiosity and wanting to see if there is life beyond Earth, lots of NASA research has given us luxuries that we know today. NASA has helped us understand climate change better and the impact of what we are doing to our planet. If we can study other planets as well, we can better understand our own. Other examples of benefits we gain include LASIK eye surgery, solar energy, fire resistant material that our firefighters use today, artificial limbs, the MRI machines we use today in our hospitals, etc etc. The list goes on and on. Furthermore, humans have always yearned to explore, to find out whats beyond. Aside from just understanding science better, I think it's a noble thing to want to learn how our universe works, and going beyond Earth will be critical. Imagine if early European explorers looked across the Atlantic Ocean and said, meh, not worth it.

I believe his thoughts run through his head so fast he has to back up and think through each one even if it's only a millisecond for each one to determine the right response

I mean Elon is right unmanned drones in the future would probably be well developed enough to take down these fighter jets and at a fraction of the price with no risk to the controller flying it.
Now count the billions of dollars invested in technology that can now be taken out by a rig built in some guys basement. The answer is in democratizing access to ideas, eradication of extreme poverty - we don't want to go too far.
He is so smart. In the Last syrian conflict turkish drones destroyed syrian army defence systems . Those were best russian air defence system and were just easy target for turkish drones. This drone technology is surely future of war.elon musk is right.
He chooses his words very carefully. When talking about outcome, he specifically means outcome and not output... It is a distinction which is lost on most, it was on me until not too long ago. Outcome means goal, intent and a strategy, output meams a lack of strategy or at least the risk of a disconnect between strategy and the translation into actionable items. Hearing him talk he is the living breathing poster child for congruent thought and behavior. Impressive.
Absolutely endearing. I enjoy listening to him think. Imagination meets intelligence, chaperoned by a shy, mischevious, determined, boyish heart -- that is Elon Musk.
Man there needs too be more interviewers like this guy, his questions are so precise and fundamental to their discussion you can actually learn here, perspective is everything, Good Job man.
Yes, I was very impressed with the interviewer. I didn't expect that from a General. Questions on point. Didn't interrupt the great one when he was talking and dived in when Elon was running out of answer. Excellent. (Media stations please take notes!)
@Kévin Fouache You're right but still there's more to it. For logic and math to work as precise, sensible and "fresh" as it does for Elon there needs to be a definitive connection to ...something that is hard to put into words, a truth which is situated in emptiness and in the now.
You should see when he does Q&A's at Universities. His spectrum of knowledge, and ability to assess and response almost instantly with valuable relevant information is seriously impressive.
@@BenDunlop I feel like im the only one that saw this.... This was a terrible interview for Elon compared to normal. he was in terrible form as far as answering questions goes. Normally someone asks him a question.... then he pauses and finds the answer.... then he will be like "uhh so AI is...." then he pauses and stumbles again while he is dumbing down the answer for the interviewer ormal people to understand. This is normal Elon as i see him. In this interview.... he just looked like a bumbling mess and never really directly answered questions. Such as This is the abridged version but watch this video again.... this really is how the conversation flows. Q: "So what are some of your processes\management advice\tricks." A: "We need sustainable rockets and we have to get to Mars." Seriously? wtf! The dude is truly an asset to this country. I really hope whatever was wrong with him at this interview isnt his new normal.
at 41:00 elon says the fighter jet era has passed the recent 2020 war in Azerbaijan vs Armenia proves this. it was a one-sided war since one of them had drones.
It is incredible how even now, when we talk about going to other planets, we still think in terms of a polarized world, of Americans versus other power poles, as usual. Instead of coming together as a species and combining our efforts and ideas, we still hope to export our wars, hatred and power struggle to the rest of the universe. No matter how big the technological progress, as long as the ego will prevail, as long as we will not learn empathy and respect for the others members of our species and for other species, humans will remain fundamentally dumb.
It's not wrong to be idealistic, but we also have to take into consideration that for example the communist party of China's ideals are not the same as yours. China's foreign policy is only becoming more and more aggressive as its power is growing and we have to be realistic about that or they will continue to take advantage in every way.
Thank you morning 🌟,incredible indeed, making his future market ,business as usual,in the end we are doing it together,we just think we outsmart the other, reverse engineering ,patent control and industrial Spionage prevents that I would think! We have to get rid of possessive behavior ,it's for all of us always to share, that would be progress,it's not present! ..on and on! Back to the roots ,hands off space-i say, plenty of projects on mothership Earth!
This sounds great, but as @knapret said, countries have different ideals. It IS a competition, and it always will be. We are humans, the ego and the desire for survival rises to the top.
part of human nature to define others to define yourself, there you go, us and them,. It becomes addictive and a easy way out for a troubled mind, its gathering the society ( tribe) around a story/goal, releasing big comfort for some, and direction for the acting/progressive. So the most gathering for all earth humans to happen is finding intelligent life in space. Climate crisis is not gonna do it, its also a fight.. Elon might think, just going into space can do it. Its a heavy, ressource consuming activity for the limited. Compared to 1bn on earth doesn`t have toilets. Plain toilets. How about that. Lots of people have no light in there “houses” , even in daytime. but a spaceship, hell yeah, just gettin there
It's really really useful when the people doing your design also know about manufacturing systems so they intentionally make things manufacturable from the beginning.
100% As someone who works in manufacturing it is very important to have an open line of communication between your engineering department and your manufacturing experts. There can often be a disconnect between these two lines of thinking. When an engineer is designing something new, they do not always know the how easy or hard it is to manufacture the different various components he has added to his design or how easy or hard it is to obtain the materials he has decided to use. More experienced engineers who have a history of working with manufacturing experts can get better at this but there needs to be an open line of communication with engineers doing R&D and your welding, machining, assembly, & material procurement experts. As Elon said, it is infinitely harder to design the "machine" that builds the machine. Perfecting your manufacturing process is the real challenge.
As someone who designs his own products, I find I do much more thinking about the machines to make the product, and how to do it in fewer steps, and to absolutely simplify final design. Refining to simple takes time, lots of prototypes.
What a great interview. That soldier dude showed how interviews are done. Just shows. He gets the subject. He's interested. He's invested. A model to separate the wheat from chaff in the scummy media.
You have got to be kidding. That guy is grasping at air and we know that EM hates it when people try too hard to ask complex wordy questions. 12:40-13:14 when EM attempts to answer he only knows what LOL.
@@Rebeccaturnerrescue Not the best question, yes, but still "failure is irrelevant when the net outcome is good" ;) And it _was_ good, I agree with Jan Day - this General Thompson is an awesome interviewer. I never seen him before, but this video alone made me respect him a lot.
I love the analogies Elon Musk makes when he explains things - it's obvious how smart he is when he can explain such complex things in a manner that is accessible to anyone. High contrast to the interviewer's questions which sound more complicated lol.
Imagine spending an hour in the morning trying to work out what to wear to my local Elon Musk conference, only to discover everyone else had the same idea.
He is collecting thoughts and trying to manage the best way to vocalize it in layman's terms. Its kinda like meditation in the midst of having a conversation. You have to think harder to Express to someone what is in your mind so they process it in theirs as close to possible as you do.
I'd say he hesitates a lot when he speaks because he has such a huge amount of knowledge, and so much going through his head at once. He's probably got a dozen things going on in his mind while doing this interview.
Learning Computer Science and Physics by as many students as possible will help support innovation to hopefully stay in front of an economy that will be twice the size of the US. The audience was hanging on every word that was spoken by Elon.
Elon is a great guy, I do feel he is slightly autistic...very evident when he speaks and that has helped him capture information and retain it. it’s a type of hyper focus. He really gives you exactly what he’s thinking. Wonderful guy.

"At this point designing a rocket is trivial, just trivial. There's like tons of books,... You read them. If you understand equations you understand how to build a rocket. Ahhhh real easy." - Musk
What government political bureaucrat could understand and do that? (intentionally). Of course this is communisms undoing. Where China is, and tragically where some Americans want to be.
Love how he treats the whole radical advance outcomes as a fun journey of big risks for big rewards. I was told by my first employer ... that the man that made no mistakes, has learnt nothing ... and by definition will achieve nothing.
Have any of us seriously considered the possibility that Mr. Musk is actually a spokesperson for a group of highly capable individuals (a secret intellectual & financial team) with the goal of redirecting the trajectory of human progress ?
Elon Musk has (as always) tons of interesting stuff to say here, but it's a little irritating that he basically ignores every single question asked in this interview and steamrolls right past it.
he answered the questions.. .i got the answers at least... maybe y'all missed it, or maybe he didn't answer how y'all want him to answer, but he answered
He answered them perfectly fine. I rewatched the entire interview looking for one he didnt answer, and i could not find one. Maybe you just need to change your way of thinking in order to understand. I have severall years of experience as an engineer and tool builder. A trade that is nearly non existent now due to automated processes, and I understood all of his metaphors just fine. The fastest way to convey a complex thought, is by a mutually understood metaphor If i tried to explain how to create a functioning lathe in detail to you, it would take days, but if i tell you a metaphor like "to create a lathe is like building a clock that tells time" you can interpret it in order to gain that information, it takes but seconds. And now you understand to make a lathe you need to use precice gears and techniques to multiply force in order to create a constant and predictable rotation I use lathes and watches as an example because they are extremely basic and simple machines that require very very little knowledge to understand, a 6yr old kid could design a lathe after 1 month of study. Its common knowledge everyone should know. The questions that Elon is giving answers too are so complex and abstract, many people take years of focused study to grasp. And he answers them in a quick manner while also not violating various privacy contracts he has agreed to, and while keeping stockholders in mind. He is truly brilliant and the speed his brain processes information must be crazy. It would have taken me hours to form the thought for the answers he gave

Great questions directed to Mr Musk, in fact it's the fist time I've seen well directed questions to gain an insight into processes of innovation. It had to be the Air Force Association who obviously survives through innovation. Thank You.
what he mentioned after the 20:00 mark, is exactly what was shown in His own words by Jesus on His Parable of the Talents (book of the Gospel of Matthew, if i'm not mistaken); the one that got the most out of his share, was also given the 1 talent of the one that was too afraid to fail, while the one that was fairly successful was pertinently rewarded & appropriately commended, but still the one that was most successful got the spoils nevertheless..
Just a reminder: Air force annual budget ~$600 billion NASA annual budget ~$18 billion Now think of all the accomplishments the air force made this year, then all the accomplishments NASA made this year.
You're aware the US has tech that makes this look primitive, right? That we are so far ahead in terms of what's public vs. black projects that most people wouldn't believe it if they were told.
Agreed. He is South African by origin of course but he left there and could never have achieved what he has in that country. I think both can ‘claim’ him, but ultimately we are all just lucky he’s here doing what he is.
Elon has to sit with his legs open to make room for his massive set of balls, the General on the other hand in is military uniform sitting with his legs crossed
I feel like he called out the airforce when he said "if they don't make innovative strides, demote or exit them." that seems unheard of in the force when it comes to people calling the shots. people get laid of from government workforce, almost never fired. I'm not sure I can see the gov actually pushing for innovative strides at the same level musk has in mind. perhaps someone else in the comments knows if it works differently or has more knowledge on the subject?

Dawson Smith military is too structured & to many politics involved. This is why you bring people like Musk to give you an outside perspective of how shit can be done more efficiently. His company & the force are actually the perfect combination of public & private working in unison for the country.
Well private companies and Government organizations are fundamentally structured different for different purposes. For example, the military wants as many people as possible because you want a large force willing to fight, and die for your cause. In many ways, it's like a small nation with it's own police, fire, rescue, construction workers, etc. All this contributes to a dedicated, organized and effective force for a war. A private company is pushing for efficiency and productivity in one field to make money and beat it competitors. The military will not fire your for slouching off and slowly filling sandbags every day. A private company cannot afford someone who will waste their time and resources.
