Oh Emy, I don't know how much this means to you but when I started learning french it was you and your videos that kept me going whenever I hit a wall. I'm subscribed to a few french youtubers but I don't watch them as much as I watch you. You and your travels encouraged me to be adventerous and apply to university in Montréal (I got in, I'm in a good accelerated program for teaching french as a second language) and to teach. I always knew I wanted to teach but not until your videos on literature and your thoughts on all these things did I have the inspiration to follow this path. I know it must be so hard for you, but every time you upload I get so happy and I really appreciate all your insight (although I remember a video where you said you don't like Rimbaud, but I can overlook that XD) no matter what you do or what happens to you, you'll always be an inspiration to me and many others to pursue dreams of teaching, learning a language, traveling, feminism, veganism. Thank you for everything you do for this channel and really taking the time out to make these videos as well as work as well as study as well as prepare to move (I got tired just writing that) keep going, I'm not stopping either!

This is very relatable right now. I have my final exam in about a week and i know i havent worked hard enough and i have been really depressed the last couple months and sleeping everyday without doing much. A lot of times when you're going through depression people just think you're lazy and that doesn't help at all. Just wanted to say thank you for your videos, and it's okay you're not alone ♡. Sending you love and courage.

Sending so much love to you Emy. I've only ever taught in a volunteer setting but it's been enough to make me realise how hard teaching is, it's exhausting and putting together a curriculum, keeping things lively, making sure you're expressing yourself clearly and simply, making your students feel valuable and listened to and trying to cater to their individual needs... it's exhausting. Also feeling the burn out with studying right now, too. I'm in the middle of uni right now and it's competitive because my uni is the best in the country, so I'm feeling incredibly privileged to be here, but I also feel out of place and not smart enough. It's getting me down because everyone around me seems SO SMART and I study differently to others so I can't work out if I've done enough or done it fast enough etc. Agh, hugs to you friend, thank you for making me feel less alone!

I'm so happy I found your channel. I'm Italian and I'm studying French at a beginner level, so I'm not able to understand the spoken language yet. But I really love the themes of your videos, so I look forward to seeing them in English, but, on the other hand, they are motivating me to learn French faster.

It's been almost a year now since I started to watch your videos. That was about french election and La France Insoumise. Though at first I was a kind skeptical about you and thought you were just a random youtuber, there were something in your talking that ignited my curiosity and thank God for that, because he enable to discover your enriching mindset and cleverness the uniqueness of your simplicities, the greatest one being your sheer humilty. And this video once again proves how humble you are, that's a teaching, a blessing of yours. I, too, have experienced parents divorcing. I, too, have been stressed with university and exams. I, too, was scared to never reach my goals and failed in living for literature. But you know what ? One day, a girl named Emy made a video about Tolstoy. I did some research and Tolstoy told me this : " les deux guerriers les plus puissants sont la patience et le temps". Believe me or not, it changed my life. Then, the same girl named Emy made a video about Specism. Once this video watching finished I open Dostoevsky last book and I read that: "on compare parfois la cruauté des hommes aux fauves, c'est faire injure aux fauves". That Emy who gave me strenghts to keep struggling, to keep living.... has enough strenght within her to succeed, while she was thinking that she would failed the first part of her competitive exams, i knew deep down in my heart, that she will pass it. Finally, thing were not as bad it was supposed to be. So Emy, please, it's far from easy what your living now, we know, it's even a bit scary but believe in your ability to suceed as you always make us believe in ours.Notwithstanding the multifarious problems you are facing now, I and other viewers firmly believe in you. You can do it. You have to. You already did it. Your teaching will be a blessing for all, a great achievement. Take cares, Emy. Thank you, also. And I hope to see you soon, with good news and great videos as always.

I relate so much to what you say about teaching. I really love my job as a literature and french teacher, but gosh is it exhausting! I also suffer from social anxiety and I'm an introvert. I can completely relate to you! It’s hard not to worry about something you do differently from everybody else and think that you are doing it all wrong. I also know how it is to be misunderstood by people around you when you try to explain that being stressed like that is physically draining! Just know that at the end of the day doing what you have to do is what matters the most and I wish you peace of mind.

I am a teacher as well and yes it is exhausting and I too feel drained each afternoon/evening and I have assignments and exam (and oral to prepare). I'm counting down the seconds until I will (hopefully) have my final assessment in (it's like 6 months away but still, that is closer than it was yesterday). I also have to move soon- like 2hrs away because the subjects I need aren't available at my current local campus and I'm not doing that drive every day. I look around and I think everyone seems so fine and why can't I do as much as them without crashing? I think some people are more sensitive and give more to things and that's why- other people disengage and stuff but we can't do that. We have specific exams and requirements to be a school teacher too (I am going to be/am (unpaid) a geography, society and culture +maths teacher)- I passed the first exam, just have all the unpaid hours to do- like 9 weeks/40days (business days). Can't wait to finish and like you, can't process what will happen if things don't go smoothly and I cant keep me finish date. Sending lots of love as watching this, I don't feel so alone now

I always identified myself to you while watching your videos because of the topics you are dealing with : I really like reading, english and rethinking about consumption ! We also had the same bleached hair dyed in blue (and the same kind of glasses). Discovering that your name is also Emy and that you also live in Paris was kind of weird. Today I was annoyed at my dirty blond-green hair ends and I decided to dye it in black, just to discover that you did the same ... Anyway love your videos, doppelgänger !

I am in the same boat, Emy. I have spent the last year taking tests just to get into a program to get my secondary (high school) teaching certification. I did great on reading and writing, I have a bachelors in literature, but I have been stuck on math. Don’t ask me why I need to pass a math test to teach English/literature because I sure don’t know. My mind has been so scattered and restless for a year, especially thinking about if I just can’t pass it, like you, I’ll have nothing. Just a bachelors and a retail job that is killing me. I, too, am exhausted. Keep going girl and don’t let your brain defeat you. I know how hard it is when you’re already exhausted. Love from America.

Hey, why not make your life easier and join a corporate job? They pay good money, probably more than you'll ever earn as a teacher, and most corporations don't require much experience for entry-level jobs. The nice thing about corporations is that you can grow really fast and move to a better position which pays more money. You can basically double or triple your initial salary in just 2-3 years.

I usually don't comment on your videos because everyone else basically expresses my thought before I get a chance to write something but this videos really hit me hard. From the beginning when you said about everyone being different when it comes to studying. I also write, do test etc. really quick finishing the fastest not rereading what I wrote and I also feel like I failed because I hand the paper first before anyone else. I look around the class and everyone is sweating and being nervous doing their thing and I just sit there and feel like I'm either a genius or a failure. 99% of the time I pass with one of the best scores but it doesn't matter for me that much, what matters is that I feel like I don't put a 100% of my mind into the test because I finish first. Then when it comes to anticipating and being preoccupied with thing going on in your life I do that too. There is always something that draws my attention from my main thing at the moment. Which sucks so much. As for work, I feel you so much. 3 weeks ago I had shitty job, it was draining me so much because it was physical work that I did 2-3 times a weeks but the environment and work it self was not good. I was sexually harassed by my boss and co-worker and it made me feel really bad about my self ,about my appearance, my behavior and also psychologically it was kind of a shock to me. On 15th on May I finally had enough of this and quit my job (low-paying) job. It was an impulse decision and I was afraid I won't find any better because of the thing that happened to me in my previous job. But I did, I found an amazing job thanks to my friend and I start on next Monday. And now I worry that I won't make it because I'm an introvert and this job requires to be social with people all the time and sort of be the center of attention which, as you said, for an introverted person is really exhausting on a daily basis. Hopefully, I'll manage to get use to it. Owners (3 women) made me feel like I have potential and means to do this kind of thing and I can't wait be successful and appreciated for my skills and not for my looks. I strongly, strongly believe you will make into PhD program! You will make an excellent literature teacher and you finally be able to show your full potential as a scholar in the field you are passionate about. You kind of made me into person I am today. Through you videos I became vegan, feminist and learned to not be afraid to speak in English (which sort of landed me the job I got recently). You are an amazing person and I wish you all the best! When I will be able to I will pay for your Patreon as soon as I get my first (normal) paycheck :)

About your parents, have you ever consider talking about your views on marriage/divorce rate/men leaving their wives for younger women and do you believe that it is possible for a couple to last a lifetime together , this kind of stuff? I love your videos and I would so like to have your opinion on this, obviously I'm not talking about the personal situation of your parents, it's private and the only person who knows what to talk about is you! Enfin, juste une petite idée que je voulais te donner but hang on in there. It will be all over sooner than you think. 💪
