I do despair of social media and people's attitudes. The shopping centre video is 10K yet the work of Sonne is not even 1k views! Popular content brings basement warrior trolls yet the same people have never seen my channel or the quality content I do on all the charity works happening here in Myanmar. I will continue to keep my ethics and bring quality content that matters, with a few types of videos that teachers need to know about for living and working here.
Hi! I saw Niki's video and you replied to me there, checked out some of your videos, I think you're doing great work. I think my experience with cross-cultural stuff and the average person is that it's really helpful for people to have an anchor point. When they see something they can relate to it can prepare them to go down the road into deeper understanding. So seeing malls, grocery stores, urban streets, that sort of thing can be really grounding and help people to get over the foreignness of a place in their mind. The more something sounds like it would just be unimaginably different, the harder it is for us to experience it for what it is and put ourselves in those shoes. Showing the things that are familiar and yet different is a good way to get people started and build familiarity and cross-cultural understanding. Thanks for being a part of that!
What a wonderful thoughtful comment. Because I've lived here so long I've become so blind to what is unusual and surprising. So its cute for me to see Niki react to Myanmar. As a true international person not much is new to me. Yugoslavia was destroyed in my generation so everywhere is home now. Myanmar is the Yugoslavia of Asia so I found my roots here. So much so familiar to me. The more you spend time here every culture can find something of his culture in this land. BTW I am NOT an English teacher but the wonderful Chan is ;-)
@@MissLizaYangonMyanmar Thanks! It is easy to forget what most people think when your everyday life is exceptional in some way. But it's great to see what things are really like. People are just living their life and doing what they can, and for most people it seems like it's largely an economic hardship. But life goes on, even through tough times. I'd imagine you've experienced a lot of tough times, in general, not specifically in Myanmar, that your audience probably would have a hard time imagining, but I know that the truth of it is that when you're in the middle of things, you kind of just deal with them and get on with it. re: English teacher, I think I remember you correcting him on that, too bad he got that wrong. Ah well, we all make mistakes. Thanks for your videos!
By the way, I can completely relate to what Niki says about wanting to go to grocery stores in other countries. It's a great place to see what everyday life is made up of for people, you see what foods people eat, you see some things that are familiar to you and some things that are different, and they're largely kind of the same everywhere in terms of layout and such so you get to see all of that in a very accessible way. I also think it's a lot of fun.
That's one of the loveliest compliments I've ever received and very accurate. There are very good Burmese RU-vidrs but they will never be discovered outside Myanmar. I could use other platforms and be 'popular'. But only YT keeps the eyes of the world on Myanmar. Ive put up with a lot of trolling at the start from people with stereotypes both about me and about MM. Slowly I'm smashing them and the big YT accounts come now because they can use my content bank to find stuff. Or they see a 60 year old woman here and think ok maybe its ok - those same YTers tho still put men with guns and level 4 warnings on thumbnails as they are more interested in clicks than bringing a balanced perspective. I didn't turn on monetization as I want to keep it real and ethical. So that's the difference.
@@MissLizaYangonMyanmarYour content is a true gem, raw authenticity and refreshing. Your content quality is number one for English viewers by a mile. No other foreign RU-vidr can do what you are doing. Some long stay foreign RU-vid even exploit locals especially women for sleazy cause. Myanmar is a big place with so many undiscovered things, people in far flung villages, even locals don't know about. Looking forward for new discoveries on your channel. Btw..you look 35 with a heart and energy of a 25 year old! Myanmar people love you! They can see you love them too!
Well done, Sister. Myanmar, in good times and bad exposes the beauty and honesty of humanity that I had not known possible before. Peace and growth to you as you travel through this beauty of my adopted hometown of Kalaw❤️💛💚🙏🙏🙏💚💛❤️
Its great to be on the ground here to hear people's stories and to connect. The people of Myanmar are such a treasure. Its so sad to see incredibly beautiful places just sitting empty because international tourists don't want to come here. Maybe seeing a 60 year old woman living and working here will make them realize how life is actually for all of the thousands of us living here???
It's tough isn't it! I can not speak freely. However I love my life here. But I can not tell people to come either. So sad to see the beautiful people suffer. So many were improving their lives by tourism. And now....
I was moved by your video, thank you Liza for sharing. I'm a teacher in Yangon, and have shared your video's with friends who come here. Please keep up your work and sincere calling. Wonderful content from a genuinely caring lady.X
@@wendylaubscher2760 i want to make content people can trust. All those visiting RU-vidrs making up fake drama for clicks just makes people confused. The world already is complicated enough without unethical fabricated drama added 🥹
@MissLizaYangonMyanmar you should hear some of the reactions I am getting from people I know why I tell them I am returning to Myanmar. Your channel has helped me to show them some truth 🙂
@@MissLizaYangonMyanmar What do you mean "most of Myanmar" is not correct? There are around 2.9 million IDPs in Myanmar. Is 2.9 million not enough for your poverty porn?
Did you not see the content on Sonne and Jochen from Myanmar? On 23 we go to film the IDP camps in Chin State so please! Realize I am more aware than you can ever understand. The situation here is complicated. But for priveledged foreigners like me we have different passports so its different to Burmese lives. Many thousand live her happily as foreigners. And I am able to live work and travel around fine. Now please go and look at the content bank and be aware of the work of Sonne and keep an eye out for the video on Chin State coming up. Sometimes trying to understand is better than reacting without thinking and researching before ping off a comment ;-)
Thank you for sharing the beautiful country beyond Yangon. I cannot recall Kalaw except for Taunggyi Myo. Please share visit to MAY MYO or PYIN OO LWIN. I remember that so much. Thanks.
