When I was a kid I thought that was the funniest thing ever. Many years later re-watching this segment, I got a pretty good laugh out of Shawn Michael's reaction when Rock started to say Bret Hart's line lol
@@schizzo8959 yeah I’m a fan of both products. In my head, wcw quality lasted a lot longer but it had a pretty steep decline over these last few months. Soon it will be entertaining for all the wrong reasons 😞
LMFAO DX impersonating the Corporation was absolutely hilarious especially Jason Sensation as Shawn Michaels best part of The Rock saying using other wrestlers catchphrase was when he used Bret's Catchphrase Shawn's reaction was priceless awesome video this series is amazing to watch every Thursday.
This episode of RAW is amazing solely for the fact that it left HHH absolutely visibly SEETHING in the ring due to Shawn's merciless burial of him. I'm surprised he didn't straight up burst into tears.
I remember seeing in one of HBKs old DVDs that they almost got into a fight backstage at some point after his semi-retirement. They never mention what show it happened at, but I always figured it was this one. Being fair to HHH here, he kept it professional by only taking shots at Michaels in-storyline. He could have easily fired back with something more personal, like his drug problems at the time.
@@Cableguy15 I think here, they were just doing the Russo thing, blurring reality and fiction but they were still friends…they had a falling out at the Raw before Wrestlemania 17 (I think). Shawn was high as a kite and passed out backstage. HHH told Vince about it and Shawn was told to go home. Shawn was angry that HHH didn’t take his side…the rumor was, Shawn was supposed to be involved in the HHH-Taker match at 17 had that not happened
I think on the Shawn DVD Shawn and HHH bring up the falling out and Nash clarifies that Shawn talked to Nash about it and Nash was like "Dude, that was all your fault." Like 'You are the only one who can fix it.' Same with his wife opening his eyes like 'you need help'. It's an off story that stuck with me for some dumb reason: He got up looking for some cookies, and he asked his wife where they were at and she is like "You and (his son) ate them all. Don't you remember?" And that's when he clued in that he was so out of it all the time he needed help. 🤷
@@makaveli4205 yep, destroyed all the mystic around Goldberg, destroyed any credibility the world title had, and rehashed the same old, played out storyline that everyone was getting sick of.
I’ve been waiting for this episode for SO LONG! I was AT this RAW in Tacoma when I was a kid. Classic DX moment that night, as well as a classic promo from The Rock.
@@brianstiles1701 I remember there being a sign on the door entering the tdome that said they wouldn't be. Even though they were advertised to be there. I still kept hoping to hear the glass shatter at some point.
If I had a nickel for every time Ric Flair faked a heart attack during a wrestling show, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but its weird that its happened twice.
Its so funny how watching this stuff back can bring back so many memories, back then wrestling infiltrated every bit of pop culture and media... cases in point I loved how Bret would always bring up his groin injury at this time, I really liked how he went on about it so much so that I faked a groin injury that year to get me out of running laps in PE. I thought it was an original injury angle you don't hear often and the fact that it was Bret Hart going on about it Made it all the better.
Took a direct hit from the Hurricane here in Florida, but glad to take a break from the clean-up to relive the war, and think about other things. To all my fellow Floridians hit and affected, love and prayers to all you Jam up guys and gals! We don't run, we rebuild! ❤❤❤
Awesome episode 🤘 I didn't remember this episode of RAW because I was actually at NITRO that night. For some reason Lawrence Taylor was there and we all thought "WCW was gonna WCW" the main event Baby Bam and LT. But they didn't even tell the veiwers at home LT was even there, which makes watching the episode again even shittier... And to think, I missed the birth of the greatest move ever "THE CORPORATE-CHAMPION-CHINLOCK"
They should've retired the Blue Blazer character on this night, since he got unmasked and it was revealed to be Owen. No idea why they brought it back later in '99.
@Jiren261 what? Nah Owen was being punished for Injuring Both Stone Cold Steve Austin and Dan Severen. His Pile drivers were dangerous and Owen Should have known it. It's just a shame his punishment gimmick ended up ending his life.
The Blue Blazer stuff doesn't bother me since it goes back to 1988-1989 for me during Owen's first run in the fed. What bothers me is what's going to happen in just a few months. The determined stupidity of it all from a management standpoint pushing for the event to occur and go south could have been avoided.
@lexkanyima2195 The Blue Blazer wasn't the issue for me, though considering this was Russo writing; the entire storyline would have ended up being a pointlessly moronic d*ck & fart joke. My issue is with Owen being forced to do that stupid stunt that led to his death.
Im so happy you have given Norman Smiley the recognition that man deserves!! And just like all the legends of RTW, he has his own segment. I freaking loved his gimmick as a kid, always made me laugh. WIGGLE WIGGLE, WIGGLE WIGGLE 👊
I am off work today. I'm usually not on Thursday. I was sitting in my back yard smoking a j and refreshing RU-vid waiting for this to post. And doesn't disappoint. I found myself talking about wrestling with an employee at work the other day. And before this series I can't imagine that ever happening. I stopped watching about six months before this point in the series when I was a kid. I'm glad to report that even if I don't remember watching these episodes live, I still love RTW!
The corporation and the ministry were the two best ideas wwe ever had. The corporate ministry was just below Mae giving birth to a hand. A faction war would have been the greatest run ever.
I was never a wcw kid, grew up with wwf and didn't really watch any wcw during the Monday night wars. This series has been amazing to see how it all developed. My hats off to you for making this series. I've been binging it since late July and I'm now caught up so will have to wait for my weekly fix. Amazing job wrestling bios thank you for the hours and hours of brilliant content.
I look forward to seeing this show every week! Wrestling bios does it right. It gives underutilized talents of the time a spotlight and the up and coming main eventers their dues! Great show...just a jam up show!
I should mention that before this episode aired, I saw a film called the Waterboy on Thanksgiving. It had a wrestler called Captain Insano in it and if he had gone up against any of this jabronies, he would of buried them all. He showed no mercy. Also, the Phantom Menace trailer was in front of the film.
I cant believe we're almost in 1999. I started popping in a bit after the Screewjob and been hooked since. Its sweet seeing the war before i started watching wrestling. Can't wait until we get to the first episode of Smackdown!
Not that I doubted it, but Holly really was a d-bag. I see he didn't bother selling for Jackie at all. But you can't really expect a locker room bully to sell for a woman, so it's not surprising. He clearly didn't bother getting fully into position even though he could have, and he didn't try to sell any impact even a bit.
This has been my favourite thing for a while now. You do amazing work. This Bret and Road Dogg skit this week is one of the best btw. Thank you for all you do
Loved the return of the "Too Legit To Quit" segment! Jesus, is it a couple of years almost, since that was a re-occurring thing each week? The amount now, of brilliant weekly segments, in jokes on this series is unreal.
"He's never been in the main event, he just hangs out with Main Eventers." Classic HBK, classic. I have to wonder why Owen was wrestling as the Blue Blazer when he already came out of 'retirement". No sense. Got to the end of this great episode of RAW and realized Steve Austin wasn't even on it and it was still great.
