I started watching in 98 as a kid and I remember seeing trading cards, stickers and arcade machines from 95-97 with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall as Diesel and Razor and to me the artwork and presentation looked campy like it was still stuck in the 80's, I could not tell the difference between 80's and early to mid 90's WWF. I wasn't that interested in anything up to 96, but 97 was and still is a mythical and fascinating year where the landscape was morphing into the WWF I knew. I remember seeing a tape at my friends house from 97 with Vader, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels thinking "who are they!?" really wanting to see more of them in Attitude era WWF. I live in New Zealand so content, information and coverage was sparce so yeah 97 was this mythical year I always wanted to see more of but couldn't.
@@kylemcgill2966 Same!! I think the wrestling gods woke most of us up and told us to start watching wrestling(WWE) again. I came back right before the Mike Tyson angle.😁
1997 is upon us, Glacier haunts WB's thoughts, the Nation is making its presence known, and Jushin Liger has become a mainstay on RTW?! What a time to be alive!
But yeah seriously you're right Is 1997 is going to be great We're gonna say some of the best WCW stuff.... We're going to see wwe're going to see wwe're going to see wwf raw get better and better and by 98 will start to dominate.. wcw will come in as the hotest promotion in history and will start to crack by the end of 97
@@jamesrich3426 modern day..... doubtful.... 1997 definitely.... We're going to have the emergence of Stone Cold Steve Austin.... The rock is going to start to carve out his legacy..... 97 and 98 definitely one of the hottest times in wrestling
Scorpio/Flash Funk is one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time. His moveset was absolutely marvelous! Why doesn't he get more love and recognition!? I never understood that. Another amazing video, WB. 💜
@@sionlow69 plenty of people can love wrestling without knowing who every wrestler is, much less when we're specifically talking about underrated, under appreciated, and under utilized wrestlers, who haven't been on TV the past two decades.
An unannounced appearance by the phoney double J allows the first person who calls it out to pass a double shot to the player of their choice. Addendum: No party shall watch either episode in it's entirety prior to the official start of play.
Frantic strategic channel changing! Imagine, at he time we all thought that we could actually miss out on something and never have an opportunity to see it again.
Wow this is the last night of 1996. I can’t wait to see how much better 1997 for the series is gonna be since it’s one of the best years in wrestling history!
I'm trying to watch this like it's the first time I've ever watched these shows... So I'm rooting for a big Glacier push and that by Starcade 1997, he'll karate kick the nwo out of WCW. Also, I'm counting on a big Marc Mero push in 1997!!
Nothing wrong with appreciating quality content, mate. For some people this might be the only enjoyment they get due to all sorts of reasons. Not everyone has a great life.
@@eberechieze9030 Actually I own a restaurant and catering business and I'm always busy. While I'm smoking brisket and ribs I'm listening to the best wrestling channel on RU-vid, Wrestling Bios
So glad 1997 is finally upon us. I literally started watching around Jan-Feb 1997 when i went back to school after Xmas holidays. Everyone at school was talking about WCW and WWF. In Your House 13 Final Four was my first WWF PPV
"Vega's Chin has nearly fallen off at this point, but he perseveres" dude I can't stop laughing I ran that line back four times already and laugh harder every time I hear it 😭😭
Never in my life did I ever think that every Thursday I would be excited to see a RU-vid video being posted. But this series is something I always look forward too. Ryan thank you for making these videos! When I’m in a better financial situation, I will without a doubt become a Pateron Backer!
I turned 20 on that day. By then, I had stopped watching wrestling though I vaguely knew what was happening. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for this series so I can catch up on what I missed back in those days.
Last week we had "Eric's little executive producer" and this week we have "Bret's little Calgary hitmen." These both are funny as hell! But I'm going to have to give the point to little executive producer. That one was just comedy gold lol. This series has been a true joy to watch!
Your humor in this 1 is brilliant man! I was belly laughing from bell to bell haha Also, am I the only one that sees the uncanny resemblance in Charlotte Flair and a young Triple H????
Me and my friend used to tape both shows, flip between on Mondays and rewatch both shows later in the week. Lol back when cheater boxes still existed so we got to see all the ppvs
You couldn't pay me to watch Raw around this time. There was far too much intrigue on Nitro and performances that I had never seen in professional wrestling before IE Malenko and Mysterio.
It's still bewildering how quickly WCW dropped the ball and went completely downhill in 99 it'll be interesting to see wrestling bios commentary when we get to WCWs death march
I’d love a year end review. Like who you felt was best/worst wrestler, best/worst promo, best/worst champion, what was the best episode you saw, best PPV. Love to hear your perspective on the whole year.
@Nick Brissette huge difference this go around pal. vince is letting go of prime talent, as opposed to back then they were either nobodies or hasbeens. all aew has to do is be selective with who they aquire from vince and not "declare war". vince is gonna sell and that will be the true day wrestling dies.

I just recently came across your channel and I doubt you'll see this comment, but keep up the great work. It's been awesome reliving my childhood watching these shows battle it out the same way my friends and I would argue over which brand was better. The Glacier pressed UP+HK line had me laughing like crazy. 👍
