I agree. But choosing the MVP is always arbitrary especially in the finals. They probably gave it to Pierce since he's the heart of the Celtics since he has been there since his rookie year. I thought Garnett though was the best player in the team but Allen was the best player in the finals series. It was crazy. He made like 20 threes in the whole finals including 7 in game 6 and played the whole 48 minutes in game 4 on that crazy 24 point comeback
True. Pierce's finals MVP award was more like "due respect" for being a long time celtic. Whenever they're trailing, Ray Allen is the guy they need. 11:20 even the announcer says it so.
He clearly outplayed Kobe (who's supposed to be as good as MJ to some delusional fools, it's like Drexler outplaying Jordan in 92 ahaha) - And Pierce should have been 3rd in the running for FMVP - Ray probably was the MVP, KG next (defensive anchor and leadership is not on paperrrr). Ray = 20ppg on 66% eFG and 87% FT with great defense on Kobe. Scoring is about efficiency, Pierce had more PPG because he shot more, that's all PPG is, more shots. ANYONE can TAKE shots, it's all about making. Ray was incredible at putting the ball in the bucket. KG wasn't too effective offensively, that's why RAY WAS THE REAL MVP! KG was more dominant than Pierce though! RAY IS THE 5TH GREATEST SG EVER!
Or it's like a young Shaq and even younger Penny outplaying a prime Jordan and Pippen (the two greatest players in the NBA at that time on the same team) in the 1995 eastern conf. semis. Oh wait...that actually happened! Doesn't mean a thing to Jordan's legacy though. Just happens sometimes.
The Celtics were so dominate this year, the Lakers didn't have a chance. The series really felt like a sweep. The game 6 blowout win was a great exclamation point to a fantastic season.
Not only is Ray Allen an amazing shooter, he is the absolute best ever at getting open for shots and making his man look silly chasing him around the court.
Yeah, he runs around tthe middle of the floor, and gets his defender stuck in there, with some help with a screen, and gets open or his man just gets trapped in the middle, it's really smart and a lot more players should use it
That layup he made in game 4 was one of my favorite moments during the Big 3 era in Boston! That hang time! Missing the good old days or should I say the Big 3 Era in Boston. ☘🏆🏀 #RayRay #Truth #KG
Steph may be a better shooter, but Ray Allen was a much better all-around player (on both sides of the court). Respect to both, but Allen is my favorite shooter.
Still IMO the greatest "shooter" of all time. Not just 3 pt shooter, just greatest SHOOTER. From 3, mid range, and definitely the best shooter ever in the corner, Ray Allen was the reason the Celtics won this championship and he was the reason why lebron won with the heat. The man has been robbed of this MVP and overlooked Soo much yet he has had the greatest impact on any team he has played on considering his threat to nail that jumper everytime he touched the ball. 💯💯💯 Ray Allen the greatest shooter in NBA history.
I miss ray Allen so bad all the memories when I was 1 watched ray Allen as a baby in that series and loved the celtics 🍀 I love there players Larry bird johh Havlicek bill Russell bob cousy and Sam jones those are just some Celtic grates on that team the 🍀
+Nathan Pillay Pierce did everything from rebounding, passing, and playing good defense and was unstoppable driving to the basket that's why he got MVP
I'm with you man, but I suppose his really great game where he absolutely stood out was game 3 and that was a loss so that wasnt really in his favor. In the other games when he did well everyone did well. So I've made my peace with that choice
Stee Guzman so was Ray Allen! And he did it more consistently... Paul Pierce has a 9 point game on horrible shooting and took way more shots than Ray in the series... Got credit for outplaying Kobe by the media and he wasn’t even the one guarding him, they should’ve been saying that about Ray...
And people want to compare Steph Curry to Ray Allen, his greatness will never be matched... Idgaf if steph breaks his record or breaks every record there ever was/is, Ray Allen will forever be the greatest shooter of all time🙌!! Ray Allen played with more competition than steph will ever play against and steph shoots what? 12-16 three point shots a game? He's overrated as fuck, if Ray shot that much a game imagine how many records he would've broken...
I would say Curry is the better shooter, Ray Allen probably had a more complete offensive game and was certainly a better defender, though Curry still has time to grow in that respect. The biggest difference is Curry has gotten to play with a great team around him his entire prime and will likely have a great team around him until he leaves his prime, whereas Ray Allen only had that for maybe a year or two of his prime and one of those years Garnett was injured so we never saw the complete team for probably their last real prime year. In 2010 they big 3 had all left their primes but were still good enough collectively to make the Finals and push the Lakers to 7 games.
The guys need to bury the hatchet with Ray, their forever linked to that magical year anyway. Get it together on the reunion 15th or 20th year in my opinion.
i think they use a different type of paint for the nba logo stuff but the nba teams use paint with alot more traction for their homecourts all i know is there was one series where everyone was slipping on the logos the nba made, then they never messed with the courts after that.Same thing with the bucks recently they used a different type of paint on their court and everybody was slipping and sliding they had to cancel the game and fix up their court
I agree. This team had heart, skill and athleticism, in that order. Their best 3 players were all willing to sacrifice their personal stats for the good of the team. (The way *NBA Champion Coach Doc Rivers* orchestrated team morale was also amazing to watch). That's leading by example. With stars and coaches giving 100%, the rest of the team will follow suit and play their asses off...every time. Too bad this team wasn't formed in The Big 3's primes (with Doc Rivers HC). Doc's prime Big 3 would've dominated the NBA for years.
Unfortunately we were robbed off one more prime year in 08-09 when KG was injured. By the time the 09-10 season came around they had all aged 2 years and Garnett now had injury limiting some of his effectiveness too. Still that team played in game 7 of the finals and almost won. They might've still even been good enough to get back the following year had James and Bosh not joined Miami.
Curry may be on the way to break his record but ray is still one of the best shooters of all time. I hate how some curry fans always come to these kind of vids and say curry is better i mean common i know the guy is great but the video is not about him. All respect to both Curry and Ray tho
Am I the only one who felt like he should’ve won the Finals MVP... I mean you could make the case for KG because of what he brung on both ends but Ray was the one guarding Kobe majority of the series and Pierce got the credit just for a couple of defensive plays against Kobe that stood out... Just my two cents.
+Vincent Vasquez of course curry isn´t overrated, the guy is flat out great. lebron isn´t overrated, durant isn´t overrated, etc... but you will always see some fools telling you those guys are overrated on "oldskool"vids like that. I can accept that the past generations had some truly great players. that doesn´t mean though that the best of the current generation aren´t great as well.
best shooter ever no debate, while curry has limitless range ray Allen is more likely to make a contested shot than curry. Also when ray Allen stays hot he stays hot. Curry can get cold at any time. We never see ray Allen go 1-11 from three in a game like curry has done in many games.
Players shoot 3's way more often, if that was how the NBA was in 2008 Ray Allen would have had some 1 for 11 games, because he had plenty of poor shooting nights, as any shooter will.
First off it was via trade and they didn't plan together to form a super team in advance. Second, both were older than 30 and would be very soon leaving their primes and third they didn't make a giant spectacle of it like LeBron with The Decision.
