@TranquilVision That may be so where you're from, but I worked in gamestop for 4 years before leaving and it was one of my favourite jobs, they dont treat their employees like crap and we certainly dont treat the customers like crap(Unless they piss us off too much)
Never had a problem with Game Stop/Babbage's personally and I've been buying games from them since the '80's. Game stores often take the hit for late game releases or not being able to fill all of their pre-orders. Why not blame the game companies that don't have enough product to fill the order instead? Seems more productive to me.
@WestSide1207 Gamestop doesn't make money on new games. Gamestop only sees profit from used. And the reason NEW games get opened at the stores is because they are REQUIRED to have at least 1 case (sometimes 2) on display. The only time they sell an opened new game is if it's the very last copy. The new games are never played, thy just get put in envelopes with their codes and sit in a drawer so no one can steal the discs from the wall. That procedure is done with all new and used games.
@ayyyoooo29 That's weird man, if I ever buy a game new from there it's always factory sealed in the wrapping and everything... Although I hardly buy new games, I always go with used, saves a ton of money. Also, I never sell my games to them either, use Craigslist or Ebay, you'll be making a lot more money and the person buying the game from you will be saving a lot. Cut out the middle man!
@TranquilVision first off every game stop is not the same all the ones I go to I'm treated really nicely and 2nd how does purchasing from game stop not support the developers unless they copy it illegally they had to buy it from the developers or somewhere that gets it from the developers and I've never had a non-factory sealed game from game stop
@ayyyoooo29 Yeah man, me too, I like owning all my games and just having them in my gaming library. Still, this Gamestop you go to is hella weird "security reasons?" Damn man, that sounds pretty weird, they were probably just trying to resell used games as new to make more money. Not cool. Again, that never happened to me, the new games I bought there were always factory sealed, but I haven't bought a new game from there in a while so I'll take your word on it.
@TranquilVision Bro i dont know where you live but i live in canada and we have EBgames wich is the same thing just diffrent name cuz its in canada and its the best they are so kind and i know someone who works there and they dont get treated badly
@TranquilVision If the store is so bad, then why are there Gamestop stores popping up all over America and even starting to come to Europe? Sure, it's a company that cares more about your money than the games they sell, but that's how this world of capitalism we live in works, sadly. Now there are really good game stores out there with people behind the counter who know their stuff. They're small and few, but those are the ones to go to.
@TranquilVision theyre not a horrible company, sure what theyre doing is hurting the industry but its just business. you should try to refrain from gamestop tho
@TranquilVision I don't know what you've been smoking or what delusions you've been hearing about, but Gamestop's stock of new games ARE factory sealed except the one or two copies that have to be displayed on the shelf. And why would developers not get money when you purchase new from Gamestop? That arguement reeks of desperation. They are not a horrible company. They are not hurting the gaming industry. I have never had a bad experience at Gamestop. The employees are always polite and helpful.
Dont buy at EB/Gamestop i used to love it when i live in my small town mostly cause i knew the owner. in cities the stores are terrible. expensive. generally bad
