Ray Boltz I am almost certain that you will never read this comment but I am writing it for you any way. I grew up witb your music. I praised and worshipped God as a teenager with all of my heart as I played your music and sang along with you. I saw you in concerts where the entire crowd was one in worship for our God and where the Holy Spirit was moving like I had never seen before. That continued through my 20's and now I am 48 with a life time of joys, heartache, good decisions and horrible decisions along with dealing with the consequences of each in my life . And your music is still what I most often choose to bring me to mu knees in worship for our Father. I don't remember exactly when I heard that you had announced that you are gay to the world, but I definitely remember many many people who called themselves Christian butcher you with horrible, judgemental, mean amd downright evil comments. I remember the same when the controversy over Michael English happened and so many people turned on him as well ( I'm not comparing the two of you, Just noting such similar reactions from the people that supposedly loved you so much just one day before these announcements took place). I was disgusted. Not with you. Not with you at all. My thoughts of you didn't change at all. I was disgusted by all of the people who called themselves Christian yet were judging you and actually being evil in their comments and wishes for you. I prayed for you and your family so much during those days....that God would give you comfort, peace and that He would fill your heart to overflowing with the feeling of being loved by Him. I still pray that for you today and send my love and sincere best wishes to you. Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am a life that was changed.
You do not know the word of God, only your emotional reaction to someone you love becoming a reprobate. Pleas read the real Bible, the one that tells you to behold both the goodness and severity of God. The same God who made heaven made hell. Never forget it.

People need to properly understand that passage of Scripture in John 8. The context of what was going on is that the Pharisees were trying to trap Jesus into breaking the Law of Moses. The Law of Moses required BOTH the man and the woman to be brought to trial for committing adultery. So if only one of the two guilty parties was brought before the judge, the Judge was under the law to automatically dismiss the case. Therefore, Jesus responded in accordance to the Law of Moses by setting the woman free. That passage is not about Jesus arbitrarily dismissing someone's sin-it's about Jesus being the Supreme Judge! Amen!

Yes I am a Christian,and the ONLY reason for this is an encounter with the Holy Spirit,that I did not want,and did not ask for...I used to toss evangelists off my doorstep! Like a certain Saul of Tarsus I had a bit of a "rough start. (He knew she did it and verified what he knew by saying at the end, go and sin no more.) But the point again is, that He told her to go and sin no more. Hey Ray, as a dad of a gay daughter which in itself was a massive learning curve for my wife and I. However this never ever diminished our love for her nor her siblings. Actually if anything this strengthened my prayer time to a whole new level. Not just for my daughter but for all my children, grandchildren and greater family and friends. Mate, I only prayed once in a blue moon but now I have become a prayer warrior. Ephesians 6 12 says For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. I believe we all have the ability to hold onto things that aren't right in Gods eyes which for many people like myself we have to repent daily. Battling as Christians' is a normal part of carrying the cross, which I believe we all do. No one is exempt from issues in life when we walk with Jesus. However, I'm not convinced this what God wants for you. So I would like to pray for you and add you to my prayer list. I remember when I gave my heart to the Lord exactly 30 years ago your song "Take up your cross and follow Jesus" was one along with the Heritage singers I used to listen to all the time. As a matter of fact that song was in my head when I woke up this morning so I checked on youtube to find it hence this note. I grew up listening to Rays music, also sung several of his songs, especially The Anchor Holds,,such an anointed song, Seen several lives touched from me singing it. I've studied a little about being Christian but still having same sex attraction, and was impressed with a couple of guys who said that they manage to abstain regardless of the temptations. This rings true to me, as it's the same with any other sexual sin - which so many of us have committed. It's not always an easy road, as our human inclinations can be so strong, but we can abstain from what we know to be against God's will & ways. I hope this helps someone.

I've known many fundamental born again Christians, myself included, that have struggled with being gay since childhood who had no one to talk with. fellow Christians will say pray about it, if they only knew how many hours in prayer we've spent. thank you for your testimony and incredible songs, I've been brought before the throne of grace many times listening to them.
i may not agree with his lifestyle and it may be biblically wrong but he did create some great music. and do not condemn me for even saying that because i fight homosexual tendencies myself because i was raped when i was younger. but im fighting and not giving up because i know God can deliver me from this. Ray, you are a wonderful example of a man of God. There is no greater or lesser sin. We ALL fall short! My grandson recently came out to be, assuming he would lose both my love and the Love of our Father. When I held him close and told him he is so beloved he cried. Love without judgment.
I will choose to love. That's what you might be thinking about right now instead of "He is holy and cannot accept sin..." Hi Eric! I agree fully with your take on Ray Boltz. However, even if he is saved right now, he had no good reason to come out with his "gay" problem. Christians struggle with lots of issues--even with straight people not able to get married. But why not commit our lives to Jesus, coupled with all our short-comings, failings and foibles rather than pester our families and communities with them. Ray caused people to stumble through personal selfishness and wilfulness. That is my thought, but let God be the final judge! James

I may be wrong but there are God' foods..that can..cure..This may not make sense and I don't know how to explain ..but ..i just know I was so so miserable for so long with a problem.Then I started looping at supplemental and definining what each one did in the supplemental..For instance I would get so exhausted I coukd not move....a shopped for them not going crazy but..any way..life is still so hard with circumstance but I'm not feeling the total feeling of destruction I felt and I can tell a big big difference when I don't take them..And I eat foods but I know what I call God's foods if that makes since and it seems less and less I want the other foods...etc..things are still very hard but the little church I had as a kid saved my life because I tasted and the Lord was good..a songs have been a saving Grace..the old songs we sang are scripture based..we didn't get a lot of the Bible but they pointed me to Him. And I read God is in his Word .Gid IS HIS word and if it's hard to grow like you would like to..as deep as you would like..just ..knowing just a little is so beautiful and He is Always Enough.. I read and of course as I think..duhh ..God is not only in His Word..He..is..his word ..and if we only learn just one..like The Lord is My Shepard..that one and or Our Father...Father ..such a picture of beauty and so so much meanings that fill you...some where in the Bible it says. it's good..because He Is his word and don't or I don't treat that lightly and an so grateful. It's helping the synisism that spewd out of every pore..keepung me down ..dont know when my time will be over I just don't want to not bring others down..and maybe have the courage to get a life again if ...but it's a way to act and walk gracefully..and not be so.....That would be really good.... I pray Ray gets delivered and healed. Although, I can not relate to what he's saying, because I've always been attracted to women as a straight man, however, I believe he's genuine and sincere, and I certainly believe Jesus still loves this man and has not given up on him. I don't agree with his life-style. Even if he's struggling with homosexuality, that doesn't mean he has to give in to that life-style. His songs were from a heart searching for healing and were so beautiful. Just like the woman caught in adultery and the woman at the well. God always loved Ray. That is true. However, he seemed to not be able to believe God loves him UNLESS He also accepted his feelings as legitimate and his desires as most important. Feelings can and do change hourly and daily. The sad thing is that Ray believes he is being true to what his feelings are rather than what God says is sin. We can admit our sin without embracing and practicing it. I hope Ray comes to this understanding. He admits to missing his wife and kids so his decision didn’t make anything better. Who know if God would have healed him in time? He still can for sure!

this is the first time I ever heard this. I'm shocked and crushed. Sin is our enemy. Anything that pulls us away from God should be abhorred. Father,deliver all of us from our sin nature. It is a disease. Deliver us from "the Deceiver" ,also.Take my heart and FORM it. Take my will and CONFORM it .To Yours Lord. Your mercy and grace and power love and truth is what we need. Take my mind and TRANSFORM it. Make us like Jesus.

I loved your music long before you came out. I'm sorry that you carried this for so many years. There's so much about God that we do not know. I've long stopped going to church and believe only in a loving God. I am not gay, but I am other things that seem at odds for a Christians to be. If you listen to Ray's description of some of his most popular songs, they were inspired during the time he struggled and prayed for deliverance and forgiveness. God allows struggles in each of our lives to purify us and strengthen our faith in HIM. We should never give up seeking a righteous path . . . the journey towards Him is the key . . . not happiness and fulfillment on Earth.

I have been listening to some of Ray's music lately, the albums before he made the announcement. Every song tells a story of the conflict he experienced, and in every song there is the same theme. The anchor holds! We do not know what tomorrow brings, but we know that God is faithful, and every one of the songs Ray sang, to me is a prophesy on his own life, and touched many other lives. I am convinced Jesus will deliver all of us from all kinds of satan's strong holds.
I've lived next door to the old God's Free Will Tabernacle all my life. I don't know how much you went there, but I know Carol grew up in that church. The church was even built on land donated by my great-grandpa. It's now a home and B&B. I never went to that church, but I regardless went through the same struggle you did growing up. My home church did nothing to help and only made things worse for me. They were extremely antagonistic to those in the LGBT community, however they never knew I, a preacher's kid, was going through those things himself. This year, I finally became honest with myself and have real support. Almost my entire family have turned their back on me and I was pretty much kicked out of my home church. My well respected, "close knit," and "super religious" family has definitely shown their true colors and it is very hard. They've hurt me more than they will ever know. But with God's help and the support of affirming friends I made, I've been making it through. Your songs have been a blessing to me. "God Knows I Tried" broke me down into tears and helped me come to terms with being honest about myself.
Ray, thank you for being transparent. I can't even imagine how difficult this must have been for you. You music has touched my life during my most difficult of times and I want to "Thank You" for sharing your gift. Even though I don't understand your feelings or what you're going through, I believe we are not to judge one another and that we all sin.
I don't hate Ray, his music can touch others because it is his gift from God. And we as Christians are not to judge him or his partner. We have to leave that to God judgment day and it is my prayer that Ray and others will come to repentance and delivered from their sins. Otherwise the word has condemned him and his partner already. Nothing more God or Jesus can do. That said, we are not to judge but correct him with God's word, not our own words. Is up to him to receive the correction or reject it. We are free to chose what path we should take, God does love us all and reason he sent his son to die for our sins but God did not force his will on us. Just like he loved the people that perished by the flood, they had 120 years to repent and get in the ark with Noah, instead they just mocked and laughed at Noah telling them that God could saved them them all. But they chose to hardened their hearts like Ray apparently by his own statement. He is living a lie. As parents or siblings or children of gay/lesbians we are to love them and respect them as humans but we are not to condone their lifestyle. I had an uncle who lived his whole life as a woman until God himself reveal to him the truth, in the last years of his life. He began to allow me to pray with him, and began to share his experiences with God and before he died he told he was a man, not a woman. He couldn't believed with tears how God could forgive his filthy life he lived living as a woman??!! I told him that was the grace and mercy of God, I was comforted with this knowledge of his salvation. God spared his life many times until he came to get saved at Jesus feet. He passed away last year and my father this year comforted to know that his brother he had prayed for so long finally accepted what gender God made him with. My uncle told me all his story and how deceived he lived believing lies from people who used him and lied to him telling him it was ok and that God loved him as he was.
I appreciate your honesty sir and your songs have and still do bless me and the heart and spirit behind the lyrics and none of us can judge you sir because we all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. none of us deserve grace but Jesus chose to die while we were yet sinners. God has really used Ray Bolts over the years to write and sing many inspired songs, yet all this time he struggled with same-sex feelings and eventually gave in to that sin, abandoned his wife and children and is now living in sin and sexual depravity. I pray often for Ray that he would repent, turn from sin and serve his loving Creator once again to bless others. "God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor." 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4

Is ok for his family to love him, everyone as Christians we are to love someone who loves God and struggle with sin. I watched the other day about another prodigal son Russ Taff who I was wondering what happened to him. Its free on youtube, he finally got his deliverance from alcohol and free to love his wife and children who almost lost him thru suicide thoughts and depression living a life he knew it was bad for him and family. It was very inspiring seeing a wife loved her husband to helped him and she also almost came to leave him but in the end they gave God and each other a last chance to love and trust again.

Dear Ray, Like as not you won't see this since there are so many of these comments. I first heard of your music a few years ago and bought one of your cds that has "The Anchor holds" on it. I love it and think you did a fantastic job on it. I want to get this right in case you do read this. (I listened to the whole interview) Yes I am one that disagrees with you, but I hope you will hear me. The issue is not whether you have those feelings, thoughts, etc. rather the issue is what the Biblical directive is. One man and one woman is what He tells us initially and what he says finally. While I am thinking of it, you speak of Jesus being with the woman at the well, the adulteress, and other sinful people. The critical point is that he gently but truthfully tells them their sin is sin, and "go and sin no more". I cannot relate to those feelings you have had; as I have never had them; however I can relate to other sins. It is much easier initially to give into them and to follow them; but I know and I think if you are honest you also KNOW, (maybe, maybe not) that we have to walk in righteousness. You can never walk in sin and be pleasing to Him....that is the critical point. ***Know this please, I say it also in love, as you talked about, (A great quote from a godly man) "All the world on your side and God against you, you are in a minority. All the world against you and God on your side, you are in a majority" Stop listening to the crowd, even your feelings and find out for yourself, what the Bible says, and look to Him to enable you to walk in it. They revealed to me such a greatest love of a Loving Father. But can you please explain 1 Corinthians 6:9-10? God truly accepts anyone for who they are, but God refuses to keep us for who we are. His divine purpose is to make us holy just as He is holy.

I have always felt the anointing upon you when you sing your songs. In fact, I listen to your songs everyday. I love & respect you. I do not agree with your lifestyle, but I am glad you are still singing for the Lord & blessing others. My husband has struggled with same sex attraction. He also says he has prayed for deliverance. When I became a Christian my first CD album was of Ray Boltz . I loved every song. I really believe that God will bring him back to His Christian roots. He’s only deceiving himself because the Bible tells us that his lifestyle is wrong in God’s eyes. God sees our hearts as white as snow and the blotches we put there are our own . Every time you think you are going to fall pray and say how thankful you are that Christ, God on earth, actually gave Himself to die for ME! How can you possibly turn your back on Him? Ray I have listened to your interviews and songs and wept with you. I don't walk in that lifestyle but knowing how you suffered wanting to be delivered and then when you had to give up how you. we're treated breaks my heart. God did use Ray Boltz, but he fell away. As Paul said, "He that endure to the end, the same shall be saved." May God have Grace on Ray's soul. David fell, Samson fell, Solomon fell, Moses fell, and many more great men fell. But as Jesus said, 7 times a righteous man will fall, and all 7 times he gets up." He just god caught up with the fact society is starting to accept sin on all levels, not just homosexuality as being normal. Fornication is a sin and yet I see so many young people IN CHURCHES, living together and not committing themselves to each other.

Jason M Some sins are worst than others. Some God calls abominations, and Homosexuality is one of them. Leviticus 20:13 - If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. And yes, any sin is bad in God's site. But its the fact that he has been deceived and says that God will accept him the way he is, when God explicitly said, NO, I will not accept you as you are when you knowingly go against his commandments. I pray that God will reveal himself once more to Ray. As a brother in Christ, that is all you can do, apart from living a life that exemplifies Christ as well.

Furthermore, if a woman wore a man's cloak or a man wore a woman's cloak, it too was an abomination in Deut 22:5. High school girls all over the country wear their boyfriend's jackets. Do you condemn them as well? In the NEW TESTAMENT, ALL sins are equal according to James 2:10. What does it mean to have eternal life if you can lose it every time you sin anyway? Either you are saved and your name is written in the Lambs book of Life or it is not. Furthermore, if what you are saying is correct and we lose our salvation if we commit one of the 'big sins', does he erase our name and write it back in based on whether or not we are truly sorry? The word 'eternal' means 'forever'.

All sins are equal under God's eye, but some he hates more than others. And the Bible notes those. But the worse are the ones committed out of iniquity. What does iniquity mean, it means that you willfully and knowingly disobey God and perpetually do so. These are the wicked in God's sight. Sometime Satan deceives you, like King David, and blinds you in committing sins against God. But once Nathan revealed his sin unto David, he broke down before God. Cast me not away from thy presence, oh Lord, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto to me, the Joy of thy Salvation, and RENEW a right Spirit within me. He didn't hardened his heart and tell Nathan that he committed those acts out of love for Bathsheba. No, he knew he was wrong, and repented of his sins. We have ALL Sinned and come short of the Glory of God. Jude 1:5 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness. Meaning that you can keep on sinning, willfully, and God will continues to forgive you. NO HE WON'T. And God will blot your name out of the Book of Life. Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. If you take away from God's word and make up your own version of the God's word, yes, he will remove your name from the Book of Life.

You are right, God does not takes away the gifts he has given us, and yes, he needs to be delivered from his sin and only God's word thru His Spirit guiding him and reveal to him his sin against God and himself. Unfortunately he is going to a church where everyone is loved by God and accepts their sin as well. I totally understand I couldn't go to a church where I will not be accepted living with someone my own gender or married to someone my own gender when I know well I'm going to be rejected. The word says those who are more mature in Christ should go to the one caught in sin and if he/she repents they have won back a prodigal son, but if he/she does not listen then to go with someone else to be a witness between the person who refuses to stay away from sin. Then the ultimate is to expose that person before the church and have that person stay away for a time to reflect about his/her sin but go and try to rescue him/her again but if that person refuses after all that has been done, leave that house and dust off your feet and leave it in God's hands.

I have sung the music of Ray Boltz for a long time and I appreciate his ability as a writer and a great performer. I am not gay but I have a great appreciation for God's inspired works and I will not judge His messenger. I cannot condemn great music because the writer is gay. I can't say " They are just words," because they mean so much more to me. Thank you Jesus and thank you Ray.

rjpfletcher Amen to that!...To the rest of the world, this is not solidarity against the gays but "for" the truth and the power of its deliverance which can never be overstated.
One more thing...I absolutely agree that we can be delivered from various things...I was delivered from years of depression and thoughts of suicide...but even if God never delivers me from all struggles with sin here on earth----------> as Daniel 3:17-18 states - 17 "If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up." --------> I will not worship sin at all, but specifically in the sense of ever embracing it as though it is "OK" to do so, and encourage others in this wrongdoing. When I gave my life over to the Lord, it was for life til death due me part - that is the Spirit Saving Love I have in me...not the Flesh-based love the world so often speaks about.
