This song was a favorite of mine when I was stationed in Germany with the Army back in the day and it still is. I would play it on my stereo every night before I went to bed. Ray took an old show tune and turned it into an aching, wistful, love song to our home state.
I stayed and worked in Atlanta 18 years ago, not for long. But loved my short stay there very much, loved the people I met, loved the people I worked with They are always on my mind and specially I love Georgia......thanks for sharing this with us

I love this song so very much--esp. with Ray Charles who sings it--nobody in my opinion sings it as great as he! I really miss Georgia; born in Dalton, Georgia, 1960 and moved to Big Timber, MT, a little over ten years ago; not a day goes by that I don't think about it and just long to go HOME!

Dear Ray Charles, I know you're in Heaven singing this absolutely wonderful music, at the same time you are wondering why people make crappy music today. I for one appreciate your music, you are still one of my favorite musicians. I apologize for the way music is written and sang today, with no meaning of anything.

Every time he cried 'woah Georgia, Georgia' (02.45), it used to send a shiver down my spine. Time and time again. There is no other version to compare, except perhaps the 7 and a half minute live versions. I still miss him, almost 20 years since he passed.

Such a great song, double entendre in the best sense. I will never forget it because of a film few people know, "Four Friends," one of so many exploring the Sixties when I came of age and which will always mark me as a Boomer. So be it. This man, Ray Charles, was one of the best ever. I honor him.
This song used to play every night when the Georgia Broadcasting channel went off for the night. I feel old now! But I remember loving to watch the pictures of sites in Georgia and hearing this song.
Georgia was a good song. I heard it though at a time when I was 21 at a Tony Roma's when a man was just playing the piano. And my aunt took me there for my 21st birthday and she said to the piano player. Could you play Georgia? That was her favorite song. And it's bringing back memories to me right now of my aunt. That just passed away😢

It always makes me think of my home I from Ga and the beautiful woods I loved so much I just can;t take the backwoods people there I had to leave to be in a more progressive state live in MN now and love it.

If you ever come back, Visit the Olympic park in Atlanta, Tybee Island in Savanahh, and Madison GA (not very known but we are 1 of the 2 towns spared in shermans march so pre 1860 buildings!)
I grew up with this music...now I'm not 60 something years old I'm 13 my step-dad really use to like this music and i find it incredibly different(from rap),calming, and inspirational people look at me like im crazy because i listen to this.
