Definitely the best stop motion animator I've seen. Even if the movie was bad, his special effects made the movie. The original clash of the titans is all his talent plus a great cast is his greatest movie. RIP.

He lit the fire in my imagination.. I fondly recall, as a young lad, watching his magic unfold at the local cinema... Bravo.. RIP Ray, you'll never be forgotten.

I was there, second row in middle seat.... the most inspirational day ever. I'm a CGI artist and try to put as much work in (and will continue to) as Ray, to try and get to his brilliance.

Thank you Ray Harryhousen, for helping my childhood memories, a gift worth remembering." The 7th voyage of Sinbad" was the very first movie I remember seeing as child in Scotland back in the early 60s ,as the Cyclops coming out of the cave for the first part of the movie, has wedged itself in to my memory. I salute you ,Ray. You are,and always will be, a legend.thank you again, from this very greatful, Scotsman.

What a pleasure to see this here! I grew up watching all of his movies when they were originally released in theaters and then much later on television in the 1960's and 70's. A wonderful tribute for such an incredible man who has been such an inspiration to so many in the special effects field of cinema. Willis O' Brien and Ray Harryhausen , the KINGS of stop motion animation.....Wowwwwwwwww....

In 1956 Dad took 4 yr. old me to The Rossville Theater for a dbl. feature of Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers/The Werewolf & it opened my eyes to what movies can be. Thanks so much Ray! ❤

This guy was a legend in his art. His movies were the best in the world. Clash of the Titans is a favorite of mine. Earth vs the Flying Saucers, Sinbad movies, Jack the Giant Killer and 20,000 Miles to Earth are classics .Rome, San Francisco, Washington DC and NYC were always destroyed in his movies. Great casts and creatures. Best director in the entertainment world

FYI, Ray did not animate Jack, The Giant Killer. it was done by Jim Danforth and his team. Also Ray was the auteur of his films, but not the director, he was also the creator of the special visual effects, which always included stop motion animation.

Trust, me animation is still an art form in cgi. The choreography of movement, as long as it's not been taken from human with dots all over their bodies and scanned, in the best CGI scenes, is art. Just try animating anything in photoshop's timeline, or Maya, etc. Every pore of your brain goes into the work. Imagination, ambition, the search for excellence, the desire to thrill, captivate, and enthrall all go into CGI work. Watch Peter Jackson's King Kong expressions. Did I forget to say talent?

Not the case. You should read the end credits as well if you really want to know. See how many people worked on a 20 minute SM video on . Today you can do a full movie using CGI and 3d models that readily available if you have the budget. In SM you gonna have to do it from scratch cause you cant copy & paste

13:55..Randy Cook is clearly Michael J Fox’s disguise as a special effects artist

CGI is an art aswell. The only difference between CGI and SM is that CGI is a lot easier to do. Well almost everything nowadays have gotten easy.

All the 3D CGI in the world can't beat Mr. Harryhausen's genius. It seems that anyone who says they don't like stop motion, has never seen any of Ray Harryhausen's (Or Willis O'Brien's for that matter) work.

From the gist of this, two other modern effects guys have hollywood stars, but Ray doesn't. I don't get it. The Ray Bradbury piece was very special.

if cgi is easier it's because 90 people work on it.

If cgi artist put as much work into cgi as he did then movies would be so much better. He is an inspiration not only for his effects but for his dedication to dreams.
