Hi Ray, interesting podcast. It is evening here. The deep ocean sounds great... let's all move there!!! I started off with a dinky, rode around 500kph down a steep hill nearby and totally destroyed it. I then advanced to scooters and later billy carts. Back in the old days, I used to receive Disney comics, annuals and matchbox cars as presents. Our motto was if we saw a sign saying "Enter at your own risk" we would say okay let's go in!!! it was a world of adventure back then. I used to collect coins and I was always after a 1930 Australian penny, which was rare and valuable. I could never find one, though I did have a 1930 English penny, which was not worth any more than its own value. I wasn't aware of the 1933 English penny being valuable. I also collected Wheat-Bix cards. My grandfather used to tell me hat i could not get down off a sheep, though I could get down off a duck. Not knowing down was feathers, I was wondering why anyone would ride a sheep or a duck!!! Back in the day, if we fell over in a park, we would get back up and dust ourselves off and tend to our wounds and show off the cars later. These days, if a child falls in a park, the family sues the council!!! I got my first transistor radio in 1967. It was a Tokai MW SW radio and it still works today. My dad used to have an Oceanic TI MW SW radio, which he bought in 1938 from Mick Simmons in Sydney. I am like you with material things. I am content with what I have. I think having too much money can cause extra stress. Incidentally, have you ever charged through a chicken coup? I did that with some kids on a farm years ago. We came out covered in feathers, eggs and having roosters pecking us on our heads. Good fun!!! Just of interest, to find things, especially when I move anything, I keep a "Lost and Found" list, which I continually update. Yes, we have "Murdock Mysteries" on TV here also. It is quite a good show. Incidentally, does your mobile phone show which cell you are on? My first mobile phone had the cell location displayed and I used to try and receive distant cell locations (Mobile Phone DX??). We still use TV antennas here. Cable is far too expensive. I used to work with a chap originally from Liverpool UK and he told me that Rediffusion was evil...he absolutely hated it!!! You are allowed to have a bonfire, as long as you are cooking sausages over it!!! Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.

Hi Rob, good to hear from you. I know several people who worked for Rediffusion. I think they'd agree with you! Cheers, Ray.

Thanks great talk! Love these talks about the old days. I am closer to 50 now then 40 so there are things i can remember... Days with only radio i don't there was always a tv in the house. We had 3 channels and some German tv channels. The series from the 60s like StarTrek are fun... But i like StarTrek Deep Space 9 a lot. That is a favourite of mine. Starwars is great too... I like watching tv normal television. Mostly the German channels i don't watch the Dutch television much. Netflix... I had it a short time... Yes those yesteryears were realy great and i am happy that i know the days without a mobile phone and these days... the phone is more at home when i am away. I like it ... Thanks Ray for another great podcast!
