@Gore4ever FulciLives Having 500kg on your back requires amazing mental fortitude. I can drop a heavy deadlift and walk away, not to mention that if there is technical failure you still have a chance of brute forcing it up at lower weights. It is a different story with a squat. Just getting under that weight and walking it out would psych most people out and technical failure means that you are probably getting folded. It is all just opinions really but the squat will always be the king for me.
@nowthatsurban
@nowthatsurban 5 лет назад
@Gore4ever FulciLives exactly. With a squat or bench press, you can feel the weight on your back and in your hands - you have time to mentally prepare for the it. A deadlift is just raw, explosive power; your body doesn't get to prime itself for the weight you're about to lift.
@barrykennedy9947

Deadlifts are tough but backing out of the rack with 1080, holding it to get set and completing the squat is a whole different ballgame. I'd say its tougher.
@Rhino1188
@Rhino1188 5 лет назад
Deadlifts are more clear cut. You either move the weight from A to B or you don't. squats are filled with idiot judges and different interpretations. I hate watching squats because of all the bullshit judging and inconsistencies that lead to the questioning of if a lift is good or not.

If you stop the vid right at the bottom of the squat it's hard to tell his depth, but by looking at the spotters on each side you can see they are at least hitting depth for sure :D

Im more surprised with his grip strength then anything else.. He could literally snap a persons neck with one hand.. Over 800 pounds with no straps is absolutely mind blowing..

When you're so strong you need 5 spotters

I am hesitant to believe that those 4 dudes would have been able to "catch" 122,5 kgs each had something bad happened to Ray. :) 490...insanity!

I'm not really into powerlifting. Is it normal that he deadlift is so much "weaker" then the squat?

Or that the squat is so much stronger ;)

Holy fuck imagine how much force he could generate and drive through one punch with a fucking 490kg squat. If he knew how to fight properly he could fucking kill a handful of people with just one punch and that’s scary lol

Why only two spotters each side for 490kg squat? If the lifter quad muscle would cut half, we would dead with his skull cracked between ground and bar. Four guys won't catch 490kg after droppong 50+cm down. Some sense to these lifting spots IPF/USPLA. Ray is hitting 500-250-400 =1150kg in future. Great lifting!
