Wheat Flour Sweet Penilu, a popular South Indian sweet:
Ingredients:
1 cup wheat flour
1 cup sugar (for preparing sugar syrup)
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
Oil for deep frying
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour.
Gradually add water, a little at a time, and knead into a smooth dough. The dough should be firm but pliable.
Shape the Penilu:
Pinch off small portions of the dough and roll them into smooth balls, about the size of a marble.
Prepare the sugar syrup:
In another bowl, add 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water to prepare sugar syrup , grated coconut, and cardamom powder. Ensure the mixture is well-combined.FInally sugar syrup need to be thick consistency.
Assemble the Penilu:
Take one dough ball and prepare like chapathi and cut the small pieces with knife.
Fry the Penilu:
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
Once the oil is hot, gently slide in a few penilus at a time. Fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy on all sides. Make sure to fry on medium heat to cook them thoroughly.
After that penilu add in thick sugar syrup mix properly by using spoon and serve in a plate for drying..
After drying properly, They can be stored in an airtight container once cooled.
