Absolutely great reaction, my friend. Super that you got this request from Dominik. RAYE is the real deal, an amazing, new find for Dominik and myself as well, and her first live-album called "My 21st Century Blues" is totally mind-blowing. And yes, she is singing about her own life. Such a brave woman, telling her story. A story about resillience and triumph. I'm here for future reactions to her 🙂 Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
RAYE pronounced Ray has been in the business for several years but was constrained by her record deal to pop/edm feature tracks, she went independent with her album My 21st Century Blues & swept the Brits winning 6 this year, check out her live performance at the Royal Albert Hall of Oscar Winning Tears & videos for Hard out Here about her fight for independence from the label , flip a switch, black mascara, Money Calling, The Weekend to give you an idea of her sound & range
Oh Coby, that sounds like you had not seen this performance or even any of her recordings yet... If that's the case I'm really happy I was able to share this great discovery with you! I also found her just e few days ago, but already I watched hours and hours of her stuff, for me she's the greatest found in 2024 so far and I heavily doubt anyone will come soon and take that throne from her, I am so impressed, her vocals of course, but even more so her artistic freedom and versatility, her songwriting (she was the first woman ever to have won the Brit award for "Songwriter of the year" - she's been writing for years for stars like Beyoncé or John Legend and many more, but her label would not let her record her own album for seven years - I really hope those executives from Polydor are now biting their asses off...) anyway, she is totally amazing in my opinion, and such a sweet soul and has been through so much, some of her songs will literally break your heart... For me, all I heard from her so far was exceptional, but if you want two special recommendations: She did a full set live recording of her album "21st Century Blues" at Royal Albert Hall in 2023, with a big orchestra, absolutely fantastic recording (there's an audio playlist of the whole thing, there are no videos, but actually that's good imo because that way there's more bandwidth for the music, fantastic recording, very transparent and full of detail... an exciting journey and complete joy for a musical brain! And there is a full concert recording of her live in Baden-Baden, also in '23, it was recorded for German TV, very good and emotional performance, because for a foreign audience she gives more introductions to her songs, great interaction with the audience, I highly recommend both of these full sets! Have a nice evening and Sunday! Peace and love!
Btw, here she's in the Netherlands, 3voor12, 50 min., setlist in the description. The channel also has an article on her in Dutch... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HrnJJsmP2W4.htmlsi=SqaILdJTq43VmCkV
@@Hundhammer Hi Dominik, thank you for this link. Yesterday I didn't really listen carefully to the lyrics in Mustafa's video, so my reaction was more based on what I heard in music and Raya's voice. This morning I watched/listened to the entire Lowland performance in Paradiso Amsterdam, what a great strong woman is Raya with everything she has been through. It's also great that she just does her performance in a chair after she suffered a serious back injury. During the song Ice Cream Man I had a very difficult time because tears ran down my cheeks because unfortunately as a young girl I was also a victim of sexual abuse. Davina Michelle also recently released the song I sad no Sir, it's really good that such songs say that you are your own boss of your body and that you are not the only one who experiences or has experienced that.❤
