@@axelbodin3089 Raymond passed away Oct. 13, 2019. A dear friend of mine and mentor. He joins the many legends of mountain music that have gone on. But his legacy does live on looking back on videos of him like this.
Jacob Jones! Thank you for playing Whoa Mule at Daddys Memorial! I closed my eyes and cried, I thought he was on stage. He would be proud of you! We all Love you Jacob!
@@Mary-hn5ui Susie! It was a great honor and thanks to you and the whole family for sharing your Dad with me. I'll always carry his memory with me and EVERYTHING he taught me. I love all of you too!
Yes, RIP, Raymond. A Proud Cherokee and certainly an original stylist, modifying Scruggs and Reno his way. Unique and his "Whoa Mule" is THE classic of that number.
He was simply in a league of his own , he was the best in his style and he proves it hands down , when you talk about him Earl and Sonny and JD and a select few others they are masters of the craft !
Flawless. No frills, straightforward bluegrass. This man feels the instrument like few others. I like the his proud, serious expression on his face; looks like he knows he's knocking you off. Brilliant.
How is anyone that talented? Yow. Tip of my hat to Bill Monroe, F&S, Roy Clark and Minnie Pearl(just cause I love her) and the other beautiful magician musician that keep our heritage alive. Thank you. RIP.
I just noticed that raymond fairchild was also on the Appalacian Journey video with alan lomax (also on youtube) he is rediculous! and its sweet to know that his inspirations were earl and don reno. he took banjo to his own new level. BRAVO never seen banjo pickin like it! =) me and my banjo pickin boyfriend fell in love with it
I was a King of the wound-up gramophone !!. . . at least in my family back in the 50s I used to play a record similar to this over and over again, I loved it. . so nice to hear this again, thanks !!
WOW... Look at those fingers moving!!! He must be an alien from some planet far far away ;) Probably that´s why he never smiles. Awesome video, thanks for sharing!
I have an absolutely flawless version of this on a cd I picked up on the Blue Ridge Parkway - "Pickin' in the Blue Ridge" (southern mountain recordings). As a guitar "strummer" I am sooooo damned jealous!
Raymond is still awesome. Just saw him play at the Maggie Valley Opry House in North Carolina. You shoulda been there ladies and gents! Yesssssss.....................
I have this guy's first LP that he cut when he was only 19 years old. It was recorded late one night at the studios of WBER Radio in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Produced and Engineered by Clarence Jackson (ole Buttermilk and Green Onions), part owner of WBER.
This man is too much . He should not be free to do this too us ☺️ . I thought I saw and knew everything , untill I did stumble over this video 😋 . I love this Guy . He is a true pro . No BS , just sheer bliss ☺️
This was so cool. I love what he does with the banjo with all the different licks mixed in. I think I recall one where he also imitates the sound of a mule 😂
There has only been 4 g/p 50th anniversary models built so far. There are suppost to be 50 built of gold, and 50 of nickel. There is still 46 of gold left for the 50th anniversary models... The "original" Fairchilds built back 1994-95' had 100 nickel and 100 gold. The gold ones were engraved on the originals
He sends it them out in one or two days...But say you order one a friday, he will ship it out on monday so that way it won't sit in a truck all day on sunday... Then usually between 5-7 business days unless someone wanted it quicker..
