Eh, to me raymond has a failing company that’s failing to compete with tom nook and to that he hates him. I got an idea that maybe raymond went to the island to get some relaxation unbeknownst to the fact that tom nook is the one who set this island up, and maybe they did get a long later 👀

My headcanon: Raymond is internet famous in the big city but he starts to get stalked and harassed by rabid fans/haters, so he goes on an island getaway trip to escape and conceal his identity. Being a business kitty who does his taxes on time is just a cover-up~

He does seem to act and behave as if he is older compared to Wild Worlds where he was doing mostly everything himself before getting the twins to help later on and dumping the shop responsibilities on them while he moved onto other things.

If they ever make another AC in the future, I hope they give each villager a backstory based on the popular theories for them. If they were able to give the Able Sisters a backstory, they can with the villagers for unique dialogue.

True, it would add some depth to them. But on the other hand I do like that this let's the player come up with their own ideas about the animal's backstory. And that is pretty fun :)

Once I became good friends with him he wanted to give me a nickname and he decided all by himself to call me "Hashtag." He's just as cringy as me and the rest of the people that love him. -w- He is our spirit animal. Also he loves that stupid maid dress so much that even though I only gave him one, he had 2 in his house when I visited him the next day.

@@BeasEasel he is an office cat. people portray him poorly or make him out to be some kind of cute cross-dressing catboy, but he is nothing but a smug office cat who has goals set to be a businessman. the reason people 'hate' him is because of how the fandom portrays him so awfully or makes him do generic, kind of stupid things like wear a maid dress or sing kk bubblegum. don't even get me started on the absurd, inappropriate fanart that people make to twist his character into some kind of fantasy. i just dont see the appeal for that. he may be a bit bland, but he is not cringy. the people who make him out to be are.

@@gwagwa63 Dude the AC characters basically all have the same few simple personalities so we can imagine them however we want. What's the problem if people wanna imagine him the way they like him? Raymond, Marshal and Chadder would all feel like the same character to me if I didn't have an imagination. Part of the fun of the game is using your imagination. And Raymond doesn't really talk about business or anything of the sort. He legit talks more about dancing than business. The business thing is just his visual style.

@@BeasEasel yeah you're right, however i think a line should be drawn where morals stand as to whether or not the blatant fetishization of this poor cat-man that ruined how people view him online is acceptable. there's a difference between imagination and pure disgust in how people represent characters. he became ''overrated' because of that, and got a lot of hate for it. i just don't like the basic idea of how people treat him, forcing him into a maid dress and making him sing kk bubblegum for views, really ruins his image and turns people against the character.

@@BeasEasel oh, and within my encounters with raymond, he has had dialogue about business. i can't recall exactly but he does mention it when in campsite. i think that's just smug personality dialogue, but it fits with his office theme, which is why he's considered a business-cat :) (not to mention his house is literally an office... with a whiteboard showing statistics and everything.. kind of obvious that was his intention, to be a business cat.)
