Been watching your stuff. Tried to get out to this spot with my kids tonight. Made it about half way with a bunch of gear and gave up. I'm guessing its nice and flat like in your video at the corner. Where I fished was steep bank. We caught two bull heads, got some exercise.

Try watching my weaver falls bank angling video. I think that area may better suit you. Good luck!

What little I could see of the hook you were using, yes you need to set the hook as those don't look like true circle hooks that you can just reel down on. Also,if the eye of the hook is turned out/away (from the hook point) you want to snell it (never tie a knot to the eye on that style) and then you have to watch which way you run the tag line so it doesn't want to rock the hook point away from the fish's mouth. You also need a bank light,it might help out in the vids too.I made my own and use it all the time.Once you turn it on leave it on and don't walk in front of it and cast a shadow across the water. The on and off of a light is what spooks fish at night and the shadow does the same thing. After comparing cut Gill,Fallfish,Green Sunnies,White Perch,Bass,Shad,Trout,Bullhead, and IDK what else side by side over the spring, summer, and fall of 2020 I found the White Perch are the worst fish for cut bait here anywhere at Raystown.Over the entire year I had ZERO fish hit them,I fished them side by side the other baits and every other were catching fish.....although the Green Sunnies are not much better than the White Perch they did catch a few fish. The best cut baits in order are Fallfish and Gills. I had a dozen 14"+ (one being 16.5") Crappie and one 12-13" White Perch as I forgot my wire basket I had to use those 12' long rope stringers I keep just in case.I know about keeping the turtles away from a stringer as why I use the wire basket so that night I would move the stringer around every 15 or so minutes. When I went to leave that night and I lifted the stringer there was multiple huge 2.5-3" wide chunks taken out of every one of those Crappie.Ruined the entire stringer of them...wasn't anything worth trying to salvage. A very large turtle got them, but it left that White Perch alone. Turtles here don't even want the stinking things. I had about 3 dozen White Perch in the freezer that year for cut bait, ended up throwing them away because they weren't any good for bait. Now all I keep is Gills and Fallfish,I have a whole minifridge freezer full I of them. What I don't use this season I keep for the beginning of next and always take 1-2 of each every time I go.

I'll pick up some circle hooks and practice my snell knot. I'm surprised shad isn't #1 for bait. Let's connect sometime for some back angling. I could learn a lot.

That's a ton of information. Thanks for sharing. Interesting. When I hunt for fox its the same deal with the light. Steady is fine. They know to avoid shadows and intermittent lights.

I never used them very much, same with trout. What I had was what friends gave me after they died while Striper fishing so I can't compare either accurately, but I have used them and both caught a fish or two. Bacon works good, but you end up with more turtles than fish. The hotdog, cherry unsweetened koolaid, unsalted garlic powder mix works great on the good eater Channels. They will also catch a surprisingly high number of Striper here and there too. They say Carp is good cut bait but I've never used them.IDK if they're legal in PA to use but I don't see why not if caught legally and all the other fish can be. What do you do with your fox hides/tails? I tie jigs and try to grab all animal tails I see along the roads.

Wow, it looks like sooooo much fun! I used to go disperse camp and fish along the lakes and sooooo enjoy myself but I cannot walk too well these days. However my memories are so grand and highly cherished. I always took Tea bags and coffee and savored those drinks with my little canister stove and to finish it off I would make a great "strawberry shake" out of powdered milk and a yoohoo strawberry flavor tube. Oh so good! I am starting to crave one right now! Later Randall !!!!

white perch are invasive there anyway, so it wouldn't be the worst thing if it went to be food for a big catfish, or turtle.

Awesome video! Used some of your carp fishing techniques at a local pond, no carp but the boys hammered the bullheads had a great time. Thanks for what you do.

If I'm thinking of the right place, back in the 80's, there used to be a rope swing back there. We used to swim there ALL the time.

When I was a young kid , myself, Dad and his friend Chet went to Ridenour overlook. Chet heard about good fishing walking down over the hill at the lookout to the lake. Easy walk down but holy crap going back up. I wasn't happy at all. Have you ever fished there like we did?

You'd need climbing gear for that "walk" ha ha

I’d definitely set the hook although most of them probably were white perch just hanging on and when you stop your bait runner they feel it and drop it and that was me you zoomed in on pulling boards Lolol
