Just wanted to add I just got the Razer blade i7 9750h and 2060 followed this guide and cooled my Laptop off so much while playing and still getting great performance. I use the Gaming setting in Razer Synapse with auto fans and the middle battery profile (better performance not best.) Everything else was exact as tutorial and my turbo ratios were 41,41,41,37,36,29 and I am getting great framerates stable 144 in the bran new Call of Duty Modern Warfare and temps never above 80 degrees on CPU or GPU !! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this @iDATUS you are the man! Before the laptop was still running good but very hot sometimes hitting 99-100 degrees with settings. Now I can set it anywhere with no cooler underneath or anything and games below 80 degrees. Thanks again.

Great results. You might like to know I have learned a hell of a lot more about throttlestop and how the intel behaves since the posting of this video. You probably have but if you haven't check the rest of my content out. Its all dedicated to tech and product guides, mostly on Razer. Done a lot of research and testing and very surprised on results and what you can do. Real life examples to follow. There is a detailed guide to throttlestop settings and options I did which is a great reference, even for me as its not easy to remember. Check this out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xej2Lo5HYzQ.html Consider subbing up if you haven't already and check out the patron options ⮜iDATUS⮞

why is speedshift epp unchecked ? and is there anyway to run that 8750h at 3.8-3.9ghz at lower wattages without getting into 85C and higher in gaming. one more question, how can i maximise battery life of my device and how should i set TStop to change profile to battery mode when i unplug my laptop from the mains. By the way i have seen the whole TStop series of urs, it is too damn awesome mate. awaiting for your reply
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 4 года назад
Jatin, thanks for the kind words, I use the videos myself to remind me how it all works, friggin complicated isn't it. But what I will say is that you have ultimate control of your i7 and 8750h or any other, IF you know how you are going to use your laptop. You could use profile 1 for short burst power, 2 for sustained, 3 & 4 could be battery or specific program or combination. I did mention epp in 8.70.6 video (i will do a 9.0 refresh) and it could be useful but I would NOT recommend it for any laptop. May want to read some of the comments for those videos. The options video also mentions battery, you can get it to automatically switch profile when it goes to battery say profile 3. I then set a battery level when reached (85%) go to profile 4. Note also that when a profile changes you can get it to run scripts. I would do one to say stop services etc. I will be doing more videos on this at some point.

still looking forward for your revised guide for throttlestop (maybe some minor tweaks like disabling speedstep if you use speedshift, etc.) Also as far as i understood - we are not able to go far beyond 35 all cores if not in Gaming mode, such as we simply power throttle and only gaming mode enables 45 Watts. if in Standard mode then it power throttles ( red PL1 and so on) . The question here is - what's your opinion on gaming mode? I see that cooling is much loader and without headphones it is a pain to play, meanwhile no significant changes in FPS ( maybe 5-7)
@iDATUS

Thanks for posting and yes I am looking forward to it as well. It will be a real eye opener for all! Delay is due to me fast learning on how to build a WordPress iDATUS website to go with the iDATUS RU-vid channel. I've not done much with gaming mode set BUT that said reducing voltage etc will still reduce the power and coolness. Check out my latest upload, its entertaining and has practical examples. If your not using all the cores at the same time and the program (game) isn't sending a single request which is multithreading then you can have different cores running at different speeds. Will explain more in the update. I got so many videos lined up its madness. ◄iDATUS►

Thank you for the video, I am about to under volt my Razer Blade 15. I have a question though. Is it necessary to change the turbo ratio limits, or can you just change the voltage offset for the CPU, CPU cache, and iGPU? I was looking in intel's XTU and it will not let you change the turbo ratios, even after changing the above mentioned offsets. What is the correct way?
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 5 лет назад
@Chris, each case is different. The voltage is a must if your system can take it, which the settings I show are easy obtainable. The default core settings don't really suit any situation I have come across and it really depends on the app you are going to run. I have done a more detailed video recently on what the options and settings do which may help you somewhat. I have many more videos on this subject in the pipeline and a bit overdue, mainly due to research and testing. Plus I have just ordered a 4k video grabber to show actual results I obtain. For now until I have done those videos, if using the mains, put all the cores on 36 and have synapse on gaming mode. Windows power leave on default which is balanced.⮜iDATUS⮞

@@iDATUS Thank you! I got a successful undervolt of -125mV on the core and cache and -40mV on the igpu. I might try to go further later, but temps under load are way better now at 75c. One strange thing though that I can't seem to figure out is I am getting a PL1 power throttle only on the 12 thread benchmark. The max power is 43w, and temp is 75, so its not a hard power throttle or thermal throttle. I thought it might be the turbo limit timer but after disabling that it is still persisting. Not sure if its related, but I'm also having an issue where the clock speed won't boost up higher than the lowest setting for a 6 core boost, so even though I have a single and double core boost of 3.7, a two thread workload won't boost bast the 6 core boost of 3.4, and it's not indicating any power or thermal throttling. Any ideas?
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 5 лет назад
@@ChrisKuiperBelt CPU is rated at 45W and if my understanding is right PL1 is telling you its reached that limit, if its yellow then it was probably a spike. If its red then its happening all the time. What I need to do is test a bit more (you guys giving me this feedback helps) is what happens when you enable Razers (or something similar in other manufactures) Game mode as that increases the limit to 68W I think. Your second question referring to frequency, this is part of the testing I will be showing in upcoming videos. Just because you have a 1 or 2 cores at a high level to the others, doesn't mean the cpu will choose them to do a single or double thread.

This results are quite scary... Moreover, when i did the first thing you did ( with all the cores at 32, Cpu core adjusments, etc. ) i also have limit reasons on the ring and core column.. I just bought the new i9 OLED Blade and I am pissed that Razer locked the bios and undervolting ability. I disabled turbo boost to get sane temperatures while gaming but this is stupid.
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 3 года назад
I don't blame Razer or anyone else for removing settings from the bios. There really isn't much scope due to limitations of formfactor and components. Manufactures use a lot of extra hardware to control the components to keep them cool. I can't imaging the number of calls support would get from those wondering what happens if I mess with this etc. For those who want to dabble you have to find tools such as Throttlestop. Bet that OLED looks nice.

@@iDATUS These laptops are too thin for proper cooling so to get the best of both worlds you need to undervolt. The only thing I can do on my new model is disable turbo boost which reduces temperatures but also performance.
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 3 года назад
Just keep everything at CPU design wattage, mine was 45w yours is probably 50w and under volt. The mhz will rise to that limit of power. Also you can tweak the GPU a bit. If your app is bursty then you can have higher wattage. If I was designing the laptop I would have more vent holes and also use the case to passive heat more.

Excellent choice, may I ask which model you plummeted for? Not that I have read or can see. Might post an video on the bios options as I remembered wondering what you could change in them. Laptops don't tend to be like desktop pro boards probably as they see that option for overclocking. Besides I think its safer doing it with software as bios locks would be a pain.

Can you elaborate more on your method of undervolting the intel gpu. Not understanding why you lowered that number?
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 5 лет назад
Thanks for posting a comment and asking an interesting question. For anything none related to dedicated GPU work like the NVidia the CPU does the rendering. This obviously will create heat and warm the rest of the CPU which we are trying to keep as cool as possible. The CPU is the major heat provider in the laptop and effects the performance of the NVidia. CPU throttles at 90C the NVIDIA at 70C and they share the same heat sink. See my more FPS or Cooler upload for a better explanation. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R_Ej4V_cQLw.html Also I have learned a lot more about how the CPU and Throttlestop works and that's should be out end of May early June.

Hey man great video! I just purchased the RB15 base model and am new to all this undervolting stuff can you please give me some advice?. I only play rocket league so my question is - do I even need to undervolt for the longevity of the machine?
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 6 лет назад
Thanks for the nice comment ;) As to your question, hmm good one, I looked up rocket league and looks tremendous fun. I don't know what resources the game uses so I would run undervolt - don't change any settings - leave it running and play RL for a match. When finished see what results for Max Temps for each core and Max power is, also click the limits button to see if you reached any. You can reply to this comment with results so I can give you a better answer. Fan speeds is a good indication on how much stress the RB15's or any machine is having.

Hi! Thanks a for the video! I have a razer blade 15 2070 MQ. After following your guide my cinebench score increased by 290 (1895) and also by 73 in Heaven Benchmark! Now I have a silly question. Do I have to always run Throttlestop in the background, or does the system remember the changes? Also there is no difference in the results if razer cortex boost is activated or not. Neither in Cinebench nor in Heaven Benchmark. Do you know why? Thanks a lot!
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 5 лет назад
First off, there is no such thing as a silly question! Throttlestop changes are NOT permanent so needs to be loaded to apply, which is both a curse and a blessing. From memory all the boost does is allow it more power, what this does is allow it to get to a throttling state sooner. You may say wtf would you want that for, well if you have a spiky program you get faster performance. If you have a longer CPU request such as a benchmark then you will run at the max allowed and not notice any difference. I have posted some detailed answers to some questions below (check out phasma) and I plan a more detailed information and process post (like my NVidia GPU ones) for the next tech upload which may be another 4-5 weeks so I ask all to be a little patient.◄iDATUS►

@iDATUS
@iDATUS 5 лет назад
I was going to mention this in your last post and it was going to be a main part of my video until I decided to do a full blown overall of throttlestop. If you have a thread which spans more than one core they all have to run at the same speed regardless. So if you have 5 set to 33 and the 6th core set to 20 they would all run at 20. I would therefore recommend you set all cores to the same level. If you not sure look at my other run cooler or more FPS video where I briefly explain how to see what the number of cores you are using.
@leeedgecombe
@leeedgecombe 5 лет назад
iDATUS hmm okay. I wasn’t sure if it was just the stealth and I maybe had to unlock some other bios options? I do a lot of CAD work which is mainly single core a lot of the time, if I set my first core higher will it work then?
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 5 лет назад
@@leeedgecombe unless you put a load on the other cores the fact they are all set to say 39 doesn't mean the cpu is using much power over if they were all set to 25. The cpu works out which core is best to run your process at time its asks for something of it to do. I think in the old days it was fixed to core 1 for turbo.

Video was a lot faster paced than I would have liked but there was a lot to cram it and took about 24 hours in total to do and several weeks research. That being said there are some steps that might not have been obvious and that might be what's happening in your case. But lets see if we can resolve here. Ignore fire strike 1st and lets concentrate on CPU as that's identical to the 4K as it doesn't use screen frame rate. Use the built in TS Bench. Set it to Normal, 12 threads and 1024M. You should get same/very similar results to me. Let me know good or bad as believe it or not I do care ;)

Alex, thanks again for the interaction, most of the answers you need are in this post, the net is full of confusion and missing vital information. I know its where I had to start and a main reason for me setting up this channel to help clear it up some. This video took me about 4-6 weeks of research and trial error before I got it but even then I was still a novice due to lack of info. Since then as I have mentioned I have done some theoretical testing to prove how things work with the intel CPU and how Throttlestop reports/interacts with it. So with all that said be assured you DON'T have a botched, busted, broken, wonky, f-kdup CPU! Phew that's a relief I bet. So I know what you're thinking, why. Answer is simple ThrottleStop Benchmark doesn't work the way we all think it works and I will explain in the next upload. ;) Keep the voltages as I showed you, set the multipliers to as I showed but keep the last one at 35 or 34. Find something else to test before and after, a game or some intense app. Benchmark tools really are just a very rough guide. Can I ask you to comment back on your findings. Tip make sure the voltages are actually 0.000 when you run the before test.⮜iDATUS⮞

Will undervolting my Blade 15 improve performance in video editing apps like premiere pro and after effects ??
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 3 года назад
Good question. Check out the channel as there are a lot of videos I have done both GPU and CPU since this one. Could do with an update but they are still worth watching. Undervolting should really be done no matter what if you feel comfortable doing it. I suspect your apps use the cpu and gpu depending on tasks at hand. The gpu encoder will be used when creating the output file. The GPU has a much lower threshold of underclocking if it gets hot. The CPU heat transfers some of its heat to the GPU.

@@iDATUS well those apps are CPU intensive, would undervolting improve performance on cpu based apps?
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 3 года назад
@@ZIMISTAK Its not any easy question to answer as it depends if you are hitting thresholds for your particular usage. If its bursty rather than sustained then probably leave as is. If its sustained for more than say 10 seconds then I would defiantly do it as you will hit a throttle back which will slow you down until it thinks it has recovered. By default the cpu is at a voltage level to guarantee no issues from intel. I have more up to date videos on my network which explains this better. In short, reduce voltage, set max watts to cpu design e.g. 45w / 50w and you will have a great setup giving sustained power. If you are unsure on how to set max watts, turn off game/performance mode. Set all cpu multipliers to the same number, e.g. mine are all 39.

I just picked up a blade 15 2019 model and the CPU runs 88-90C when gaming. It's my first laptop and I am wondering if I should undervolt or is that temp normal?
@iDATUS
@iDATUS 5 лет назад
Thanks for posting, welcome to the Razer Blade 15 club. So 90C is the max the CPU will go before it puts safety measures to the max to stop it going any higher. This will be via fan speeds and power (voltage) reduction which means you will still have a hot , noisy laptop with reduced frame rates. I have done a huge amount of videos and plan many more for the Razer Blade 15 and other Razer items so I recommend browsing my channel. Now if that feels like Razer has let you down a bit then don't, its intel insisting the voltage is set to a guaranteed safety margin to ensure the CPU works. In truth this is actually quite high and undervolting and under clocking is easy and actually gives you more fps in the long term. If you are going to use my guide, note to click the "Turn on" button on main screen. Also the TS Benchmark set it to 2 or 4 cores. ◄iDATUS►

Thanks for posting. The video was a bit crammed and if I was doing it again I would have split it into 2 or 3 parts. The video description helps somewhat but there are 2 main reasons. 1) If you are pushing the laptop to Maximum under defaults you can reduce the wattage to achieve the same or get some more performance. 2) Reduce day to day wattage so everything is cooler and fans are not needed so much which is less noise. That's another good question. Simple answer is yes. BUT you may have to create a separate performance option (main screen, top left, 4 radio button options, choose a different one). I have read that when the laptop/windows battery saving options kick in they combine with Throttlestop and the CPU could be starved of power. I have not tried it yet but its on the list of things to do for the channel. When I do, I will post a follow up video. You would be surprised how many things you can do to increase battery power. I looked up other videos and managed to get some temp lowered on my cpu, was getting 90+ on games now its on 85-87, still not that great of an improvement but i still want to push further and lower my temps down. The settings i currently have are turbo ratio limits: 32 on all cores, cpu core offset: -140.6, cpu cache -131.8, prnt.sc/ri83sq and havent changed the igpu one is it necessary to do the igpu cause i dont know honestly. Even tweaked the graph for gpu with msi afterburner like this prnt.sc/ri7sgw The video i watched did tweaks on speedshfits and turbo power limits as well, prnt.sc/ri7tjd and turned off bd prochot i followed all the steps. Now my question is even after all these i get those pl1, pl2, edp other limits,what are these settings: igpu, turbo power limits, and speedshifts? and is it necessary for our razer blades or just stick with cpu cores and cpu cache offset? I wanna know more about these settings and hopefully make the right changes in settings for better temp on my system, hope you reply.
