I'd love to see an update on this with the Kraken v3, as it's updated with the same generation of drivers as the Blackshark v2 so it's the more direct competitor in the Razer product line.
V2 X is not bad for glasses because it doesn't clamp very tight, but the Cloud II is way better for comfort. I never felt any pressure on my glasses with it. Also look into the newest Cloud III which has even better padding.
Hey, You're doing an amazing job. I'm really confused choosing between Razer Blackshark v2/ cloud 2 or maybe blackshark v2 X. I'm a video editor and a casual gamer, so I'll equally prioritize audio quality as well as surround sound. Could you recommend any good headsets under 100$ + - 20? Thanks a lot🍻
Razer blackshark v2 is off my list now that I know the EQ doesn't work on console. Hopefully I find a good headset with great sound for COD today, especially while Amazon still has a sale of $25 off.
The laptop i am buying has 3.5 microphone/headphone combo jack is that means that i will be able to use the audio and mic of the hyper x cloud stringer? Plz answer asap
Hi, I'm looking for a headset for mainly playing on console (PS4/PS5). I've been eyeing the Blackshark line, but don't know if that's what I really want because I saw another review talking highly of the Sennheiser GSP 300 and they seem great too. What would you recommend that's around $100.00 maximum? Should I just go with the V2 X? What other options are out there? Thanks for your in-depth reviews. They have been very helpful 😌.
Alright for console since you're going to be using the out the box sound and no EQ software, I think the best bets are the Cloud II and Cloud Alpha. They're both generally under $100. And both sound better than the BlackSharks out the box. If you play a lot of FPS games, Cloud II for its sound signature. If you're playing pretty much anything else, Cloud Alpha. I think the Alpha is the best overall sound with the most detail that I've tried for under $100.
Yo, I watched a bunch of your vids and I'm looking for a headset for streaming ps5. I guess I can't get eq on console right? So what do you recommend as the best value headset in your opinion? I guess the hyperx alpha? I plan to listen to music as well. Probably get a USB mic and just detach the mic. That said I was really sold on the cloud II, especially since it gives u an edge for fps and seems that much more comfortable than the Alpha, but I guess it sounds worse especially for music... What do u think, thanks man your reviews are on point 👍
Yeah for consoles, you'll be stuck with out the box sound. For your use case, I'd go with the Alpha because it's better for music. It's pretty versatile and the best overall value. I don't know how competitive you are, but if winning tournaments is your #1 priority I'd get the Cloud II, but for everything else, the Alpha. Also, good choice going with a USB mic. They're so much better. I can't seem to convince people that headset mics overall just kinda suck .-.
Hi there. Been watching a lot of your review videos on headsets and I think you do a great job in testing them! I had the Kraken and I am now looking for a replacement outside of getting another one (I should mention that I am a PS4 player). I have watched your videos on the HyperX cloud 2 and it looks VERY tempting. My question is: Is there a headset like the HyperX Cloud 2 but has the mute button on the 3.5mm audio jack or built into the headset instead of the USB fixture? I am going to look more into it, but you leave solid reviews, and thought you'd be a good person to ask Anyways, hope you have a great day or night and take care! P.S. I sort of prefer wired connections because I have my PS4 controller plugged in all the time and I have an external keyboard so I can quickly message people without pulling myself out of whatever game I am playing (i.e. rocket league or just sending a message to someone). Thank you if you reply and have a good one once again!
Edit: So I have been watching more of your videos and it might be favorable to get the Clud Alphas, but you point out that the Cloud 2s have audio that can allow you to hear footsteps better and are more comfortable for longer gaming sessions. Is the alpha the best alternative to the Cloud 2s or is there something out there like the Cloud 2, but with the mute button on the audio jack or on the side of the headset? Thank you for you input in advance :)
Yeah I think the Cloud Alpha is going to be the best alternative because of the mic mute on the 3.5 cable. There are other devices with more convenient controls, but as far as sound quality the Cloud II and Alpha are ahead of everything else I tested by a good amount. You can also get the Arctis 5 since the mic mute button is on the headset itself. Not the biggest fan of the sound from that and I don't find it very comfortable, but it's still clear for FPS games.
@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews Thank you for your input and advice! And thanks for taking your time to reply back, it is much appreciated I think getting a new headset will be a nice change of pace and I think your review gives it good praise so I think it would be nice to have Anyways, have a good one and take care!
Very informative, thank you! I am wondering what do you think between the blackshark V2 pro and the Barracuda wireless (not the pro version) for using on a ps5. Coming from a Cloud alpha S that broke btw, so if you have a different suggestion I'm all ears
Very detailed videos! nice! Based on the videos i am having trouble choosing between Razer Blackshark v2 vs Arctis 5 Steelseries. The Arctis 5 has good microphone quality, but im not sure if its surround sound is better than Razer.
Arctis 5. Surround sound isn't going to be good on any but at least the Arctis 5's sounds fuller. Overall, the Arctis 5 has clearer sound than the BlackShark V2. Less bass out the box, but when both are EQ'd the Arctis 5 has the advantage in pretty much every frequency.
Now I'm kinda confuse after watching your video. I've already watched a lot of reviews about these blackshark v2 and v2 X and they say that they are bass heavy. You're the only one that said that bass is weak and non-present.
I'm going to make a video about this eventually but bass heavy is a relative term. In comparison to SteelSeries headsets or something like the Sony MDR 7506, the BlackShark seriee can be considered bass heavy. But they have much less bass than the Astro A40, EPOS PC38X, Audeze Maxwell, Logitech G Pro X 2, HyperX Cloud Alpha etc.
I'd hit the Cloud II at that price range. BlackShark is decent, but the Cloud II EQ curve is really good for FPS games out the box and it's a clearer sound. Just needs some third party EQ software for other use cases. If you have more $, then the Astro A40.
I can get the V2x for like 30$ brand new and plug it to my krakan TE controller. Do u think it will be good like the cloud 2 for fps games like rainbow six?
It won't sound as detailed as the Cloud II, but that's still a really good deal. Cloud II still would be my main recommendation for Rainbow Six. The V2 X is already tuned pretty well for FPS games, so the Kraken TE controller will mainly help adding bass for music or non-FPS games.
hey! so I've been really confused between the V2 x and the corsair hs55 stereo i dont have any particular requirement just want a good sounding headset overall
Maybe. It's basically just the Alpha S sounds way better out the box and is clearer but the V2 comes with EQ software. The EQ software will help make the V2 sound better than the Alpha S, but the Alpha S will definitely beat it out with free 3rd party EQ software.
I think it's just personal preference. I just use 31 Hz and 63 Hz +2 dB. 8kHZ -1 and 16 KHz -2. Then bass boost slider on and at about 93. I use the same for most games but use default for FPS games.
BlackShark V2 X is better overall especially with EQ. More detail, especially for FPS games. But if you don't have EQ software, or you're playing on console, out the box I like the Stinger better.
Hey just wondering, as I had a v2 but the detachable mic broke. I’m wondering if the v2x I bought will work with my usb sound card that I have from the v2? Thanks man and great video
Thank you for the review, could I get your opinion on which headset I should get the razer blackshark v2 x or the hyperx cloud alpha I mainly want to stream and have good audio for both music and fps games with a good mic aswell . (sorry for my bad english)
So I watched but I’m looking for a good quality headset with a good mic the little things don’t really matter just was wondering if anyone had a suggestion
Hey man nice review, can you tell me what would you recommend for pc use for moveis if i can get blackshark v2 or kraken tournament edition for the same price
PC - BlackShark V2. Much better drivers. I'm not sure if the Kraken TE gets full access to everything in Synapse but even if it does, the BlackShark with EQ will beat the Kraken with EQ.
Really considering the v2 x but I see a couple reviews and reddit post that say the splitter could be a potential issue down the line. I'm upgrading from a HyperX cloud stinger which the mic started to die and it was due to the wire being damaged from the flip feature of the mic from 3 years of use and the leather started to peel off. What else could you recommend in the same price point? Eyeing the cloud core from your videos and others recommendations ATM.
@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews so a cloud alpha s has just been on sale and is the sale price with the cloud core for about $60 I should pull the trigger on the cloud alpha s right?
@@DXNIFLHEIM There are a few differences that come down to preference. The Core is basically a smaller Cloud II and the Alpha S is the Alpha with a couple extra additions. I compared the Cloud II to the Alpha in a dedicated video, so you can decide.
Hey, in my region the cloud 2 and cloud alpha are at the same price. i am thinking about getting the cloud 2 because they are more comfortable. My question is if i plug in the cloud 2 with a 3.5mm splitter into my pc and use equalizer apo, shouldnt i have the same mic quality as with the cloud alpha (since i bypass the usb sound card) and have sound that is probably even better than with the razer v2 x with razer eq? Or should i just go with the alpha and do the same tweaks. Thanks a lot brother
This is exactly right. I can't remember which video it's in, but I tested the Cloud 2 mic with a splitter and it makes the mic sound just like the Alpha, and yes using Equalizer APO helps a lot. Beats out everything from Razer with it. Since comfort is a factor, I think the Cloud II will be the best choice for you. The Alpha is slightly clearer, but even I use the Cloud II 90% of the time just because it's more comfortable over a long period of time.
@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews Thanks a lot. I am interested in how you adjusted the apo settings for the cloud 2. Is it anywhere in your videos? Or is there a way to download your presets?
@@mikaelschroter5575 Nah, I don't have a vid on it - my presets are sloppy. I just use the ones built into Equalizer APO and then manually adjust them a little. There's probably some good guides out there though.
@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews I have just one more question. Is the sound quality going to suffer if i put right into my mainboard with an y splitter cable, a 3.5mm 4-pole 2m extension? I am running a Asrock B560m Pro4 Motherboard that comes with a Realtek ALC897 soundcard build in. Idk about that soundcard tho. Will the sound quality be superior with that usb soundcard?
Right now the Astro A40 is the best I've tested, so that one for $130 or less. But for headsets over $130 I still need to keep testing. Planning on more reviews soon.
@@Dannykim1031 Arctis 5 has cleaner and more detailed sound at pretty much all ranges. The BlackShark has a bit more bass out the box, but when you EQ both, the Arctis 5 has more potential even on the bass. The drivers are just better. The mic also beats out the BlackShark's pretty clean. The advantage of the Razer headset is the build is better and the ear cups have a better seal (not a great seal though). LIke I said in this video, I still think the best choices at around $100 or less is the Cloud II or Cloud Alpha, but of the the two in question, Arctis 5 wins. I have a detailed breakdown if you're interested www.streamtechreviews.com/blog/arctis5-blacksharkv2.
