The Razer Leviathan V2 wants to be one of the best gaming sound bars in 2022 and it better be with a price of $250. But against the Sound Blaster Katana V2 and other competitors, it falls short in a few very important areas.

I like the video and your thoughts, but for the few people that only will use that soundbar with a pc, i thinks, this is more of a personal opinion video than a review, you have talk almost nothing about sound quality or how to 2 effect is, or if it is compatible with dolby atmos or whathever, I think it lacks content. But i like it, is something I didnt think about it, still you dont make clear if it is good or better than the panasonic soundslayer or the katana, I would love a comparison on copact soundbars, thanks

It's focused on PC and simplicity. It's not "bad" and I'm quite happy with the simplicity trend because a lot of devices try to be for everyone and end up doing too much too poorly. It might not be the correct device for you but it's perfect for me and I'm pretty sure there are options out there that are quite the opposite.

@@BojidarDanchev I know a few people who use C1 or C2 OLEDs as their monitor for their PC a remote and arc or EARC port on the leviathan would’ve been great. There are better sound bars for desktop users that seem to be better and don’t have the chroma lighting.

Despite all the videos doubting this speaker, I decided to buy one and try it out on my own. Let me just say this: this thing is worth the price. It completely beats G560, which I had to return because of the static issues.

I watched this and realised everything that was called out as a downside didn't really matter to me. It sits right in front of me, plugged into my PC. Razer Synapse works flawlessly for me, I had an old pair of speakers before this and moved to this. It's incredible, I absolutely love it. Don't care about a remote, maybe it matters to you, I think it's preference. I'm glad I still bought it so if you're in the same situation as me, go for it it doesn't disappoint.

Hello mate! Is your Leviathan still gives you joy? I don't care for remote or lack of connectivety. As of my main sound source for PC is Stealseries Arctis Pro Wireless headset. But my wife want to use speakers while playing. Bought her some simple 2.1 set few years ago for her needs but as of now i'm making some full scale repairs on our new appartment (for a freaking 14 months! But the finishing line are in sight, hope i'll get there till the end of may) and after we move there she wants to hook up those speakers to my beautiful monster of a PC. Can't allow that! Yeah i know, it's just an esthetic issue, but still, i want to keep it clean and worthy so i could use t myself from time to time without diying inside. So i was looking at this Leviathan V2 speakers and they are pretty good looking and as i understand, gives you a good sound quality. So there's the question is there a point in throwing +50% cash for Katana V2 or this speakers would suffice? Sorry for such big comment, guess deep down i'm a bit lonely xD

That's kind of a shame. The original Leviathan interested me when I was looking for computer speakers but I never found one at a reasonable price. This new one being USB only is a let down because while I have no shortage of USB ports on my computer, I also have a dedicated sound card that I like to route everything through both for quality and greater control of my sound. Of course I've always had mixed results with Razer's audio equipment in general so I guess this doesn't surprise me TOO much.

Yep. Never had any issues with any of the Razer gear I've had either. The only main hiccup I had was with my Huntsman Mini causing a boot conflict that would freeze my taskbar from starting, and that was easily found to be a firmware update issue. It was a known problem and once I updated the firmware on my keyboard, everything was fine. This is one of the first vids of theirs I've had to dislike because he spent so much time bitching about the things he didn't like about it while going into just a small section with how it sounded.

When looking from a product development standpoint some of the decisions razor has made make a lot of sense. - HDMI needs to be licenced, which is an expensive process, not even starting with earc and the specific drivers and chips (global shortage of those) that are needed for hdmi support. - To continue on the chip issue it makes sense that they have dropped the analog input and used only digital. - That does not give an excuse for the lack of optical though. Most DSP chips can interface directly with optical and digital i2s standards

charging 250 gives them pleanty of money to adress these costs... They are throwing away sales trying to be cheap
@DikkieKlijn
@DikkieKlijn 2 года назад
@@zebedeesummers4413 not with the current chip issues. A standard rule of thumb is that your product production price should be 1/5th of the sales price. This puts the product at around 50 dollars. That would give you no more than 8 dollars for the PCB and components. Having the option to lose a few chips here and there is major when talking about these low prices.

The complaints are justified. Kind of... For new customers, most of these complaints don't matter. You know what you are getting (and what you're not) before you buy. If you need more connectivity, then you shouldn't buy it. It's not like connectivity options are hidden on their web page. If you are upgrading from the V1, don't go to the V2 of you don't see the value. I'm a brand new customer and I love mine... The good things about it far out way the nit picking and I haven't ran into any of the problems with Synapse that he mentions. Bottom line, customers just need to make informed decisions. "Only $80." That's a lot for some people.

I don't know why people buy "gaming" audio equipment in the first place. You're giving up so much and gaining absolutely nothing just for that gamer aesthetic. At that price point you could get a normal consumer sound bar, a *really* good pair of headphones and DAC/AMP, a pair of studio monitors and a powered sub. Literally anything else with decent soundstage will outperform "gaming" audio.

I had an original Razer Leviathan sound bar and needed an upgrade. I watched your review on the Logitech G560 speakers and decided to upgrade to them instead of the new Razer Leviathan because i did not like that they did away with the 3.5mm sound jack (not sure why companies keep doing that). The G560's have been a nightmare. Awful software/driver problems, awful volume control and i am constantly turning them up and down for every video. The EQ settings need constant adjustment because once you dial them in to sound good on a particular song, they sound awful on another...etc etc.....the complaint list is huge. My super old Razer Leviathan was plug and play the entire time i had it. It had great sound control and once dialed in it sounded great on everything i watched from normal videos, games, movies, music etc etc. Now i look below and find out you overlooked an entire way to hook it up and bashed them relentlessly for an entire video. Dear god... Razer managed to screw up v1, which was a decent soundbar/woofer combo that imo had only two issues: No remote control and auto power off feature after 30 minutes of no sound (why in the hell would you need this option on speakers that plug into a power outlet?!). These two issues rendered Leviathan v1 unpractical for use with TV and changes they introduced with v2 cemented this. To remove all the sound input options was exceptionally stupid no matter how you put it... but hey, they did add RGB, so $50 price increase is totally justified!! XD I can't but wonder if this... thing... still have auto power off feature? As they seemingly did their best to make this the worst speakers set ever, I'm quite sure it has... Too bad user might miss important business call on skype because he was not at his computer when call came in, and Leviathan just decided to turn off automatically... :D

A 13 minutes soundbar review with around a minute about sound. One single sentence about the tuning, another single sentence about loudness. Bruh. D2D puts more effort into describing the sound in the speaker section of his laptop impression video than you are with a soundbar review video. Like the man bought a measurement mic and everything and made an attempt at showcasing the difference beyond "the treble is crisp" like what does that even mean? +10dB eardrum ripping trebles over 6khz like ATH? Connectivity is important for being able to use the thing, but you needa check your priorities. If it frustrate you so much, simply highlight it and make it a point to not recommend the product. It doesn't need to be 9 minutes. It is a video and the run time each section occupies reflects how much you prioritise the issue, and since the connectivity is the deal breaker sure it should occupy the most run time among segments. Does it have to be 8 minutes of connectivity rant : a minute of bugs : a minute of sound with most of it spent describing how the drivers look instead of the sound?

Soundbars are great for desks where you don't have room for traditional speakers. Fit right under the monitor.

I remember veering away from Razer more than 5 years ago because of buggy, shyte software (That and their Tiamat 7.1 headphones were absolute garbage). I see nothing has changed over all this time! I switched to Logitech and everything just seems to work, all the time. Looking at the Katana now instead.

I don’t get the I/O issues. Controlling it via keyboard is infinitely better than a remote and the ports are just fine. If you’re using it with a laptop you’ll be using a dock anyway and plenty of monitors have USBC pass through.

As far as the lack of a remote control that seems to bother you is concerned, you're saying that it would have been cool to be able to turn the volume down from a distance when using Bluetooth with a phone... well, DUH ! Let me be the one to reveal to you the incredible power of your phone's volume control.

I’m quite a huge Razer fan that I actually pulled the trigger on these, however, I found myself having a huge buyer remorse, ended up refunding it because of the removal of AUX/Optical port, all that before even receiving the product itself just solely because of that, it’s such a pity as these would have been an excellent upgrade to my Leviathan V1 (7 year and still strong btw). To be fair, I would have gotten it without any regret if just the 3.5mm port is still there, the removal of it feels like a huge step backwards since you could only use it on certain device, the funny thing is that, the removal of those ports doesn’t make it any more aesthetic pleasing either which imo, just a big silly mistake on Razer end. That said, I’ll wait for the Leviathan V1 to break down before deciding again if I should even get these just to power everything via Chroma or it might just be time to skip on Razer and make a switch to other brands.

I use the original leviathan for work and for my personal computer. So I have it plugged in my monitor with the 3.5 so switching it will be easier between the 2 computers. So this is disappointing.

We dont get any samples of sound quality vs the Katana like we did w/ the Nommop. And it feels like all the complaints were superficial at best. I dont think we got any usuable review of the soundbar.

i dont think you guys realize why it needs a usb port, and cant just use a 3.5mm jack, It needs power for the LED's. Your 3.5mm jack can only do L/R audio and a ground.

creative make awful products. I don't get why creative isn't treated this harshly. All their products are beta and they have used planned obsolescence on their soundblaster z soundcards.

sound bars in general just aren't good products unless you need one, especially in the case of a PC. the whole point of a soundbar is fitting a whole home theatre into one bar unit that doesn't require much cabling or a amp/DAC saving space. but the simple 2.1 setup that this is trying to replace is smaller, cheaper and sounds way better and that's assuming you are buying an all in one like the g560. A separate passive speaker setup would blow this thing away. I don't understand the point of a soundbar for a desk setup like this.

Sadly my leviathan v1 just died for no apparent reason after only two and a half years. Makes me a little wary of getting the v2 since I worry about the longevity. I’ve gone back to using my old bose speakers. I like the idea of a soundbar but I would expect better quality for the price.

no Aux is trash. cuz i used the original leviathan connected to my monitor, so i can use it when playing my ps5 on monitor. now they cancel aux, which means i can only use it with pc. i would be so happy if they could have a tournement edition which removes chroma and adds extra aux to it.

Why did they even bother adding RGB when they remove important features like AUX??? Like no optical sure, but NO AUX??? I have no reason to upgrade from my Leviathan v1, I might as well get the Katana v2 if I really wanted an upgrade. Synapse has been buggy af in my previous experience. They made it so complex when they could have just kept the Leviathan v2 simple and good as a pure listening experience.
