No English is shitty. Japanese made him the best. Cool collected like an animal. Like someone that grew with animals. And he doesn't talk good. LIKE SOMEONE WHO GREW WITH ANIMALS. IN THE WILD. I'm so frustrated over English Razor. And English Xiao.
@@CyanideOwl I actually like English the best after Chinese. Sounds bright like a good boy *cough* I mean I think that's how he should sound like. I don't like such deep voice when the character is teenager.
@@hu_man1 but the voice doesn't fit with his lore. His lore is a boy raised by a wolf (Andrius), but he knows he is going to outlive his wolf pack because he is a human. However, because he is raised by a wolf, he also does not belong with the humans. Imo the jp VA (Uchiyama Kouki) did a really good job in voicing him as someone who is melancholic because he doesn't belong anywhere. Razor best boy, he's going to be superglued to my party comp
Guys, he's my main dps and i used the Japanese voice dub. And everytime he climbs, let's just say Lisa really did taught him well. Update : It seems my mom thought that I've been seeing some saucy things behind her back ever since she heard Razor's moaning climbing. I had to gave her a 20 minutes explanation on why his voice dub is like this and not because i had done some weird things with him.
Idk if Im just used to the english version or not because I see people in the comments complaining how razors english voice dosent suit him, well I respect your opinion and I think all of the voices suit him pretty well I jus dont wanna see toxic comments about his voice in other languages
I love how everyone is literally falling over Uchiyama Kouki's voice. He is my fave voice actor and he's lowkey underrated so I'm super happy. Stan Ucchi everyone.
@@stressedhaish69420 the prepubescent boys club have more feminine voices in cn so its more like how i imagined theyd sound, imo razor and bennetts jp va's sound farr too deep and masculine
Although the Japanese dub sounds cool, I think the English dub is more fitting because razor just learned how to speak, it's foreign to him. A boy raised by animals would talk funny at first
Definitely agree with you! And people who expect his voice to be deep, like hello he's a boy, his Adam's apple didn't drop yet? What baby wolf starts off with deep growls? >
YES!!! and his personality isn't THAT loner and edgy because he made friends with klee, bennett, and knows the knights, he tried making friends with human too!
As much as I like the Japanese one, it doesn't give me those "wholesome" vibes at all. It sounds more like an edgy wolf husbando than an enthusiastic yet timid wolf boy.
It seems like y'all don't understand how important context and execution is in voice acting. These foreign languages just sound like music to y'all because you don't understand them. Y'all are too accustomed to anime and fail to see how much effort all the other VAs put their hearts into these kinds of works.
The issue with this isn't the fact that many people playing Genshin don't understand Japanese, it's just how different English Razor sounds from the other versions. In Japanese and Chinese he sounds much more like a teenager who was raised by wolves and never experienced human society (the choppy words, the lack of extreme voice intonation, and the short vowels all indicate someone who has difficulty speaking.) In English he's much more colorful and expressive with his voice, and while the acting itself sounds great, it doesn't fit on a character like Razor who never experienced life around people with energetic voices like that. It's like an accent - If you're from Britan, you're most likely going to have a British accent, because you were raised around people who speak with a British accent. Razor was raised around wolves, who do not speak, and Andrius, who isn't exactly the most passionate speaker around. It makes more sense that his voice would be monotone, which the English dub failed to pull off. He still sounds fun though, I don't dislike his English voice.
@@ghostwithahat3965 Valid opinion but I have to point out that he did not grow solely as a wolf boy. The whole premise of his character story that we were introduced to in the game states that he was a person who had a conflicted identity crisis. He does not solely belong to lupical because he is human and he does not solely belong to the city because he was raised as a wolf. To say that he lacked any connection to human society is wrong. He has conversed and met with the Mondstadt people, those being Lisa, Bennett, Varka, and a lot of the Favonius Knights. It is safe to assume he learnt the dialect while talking with city dwellers. What's lacking about the Japanese VA's direction is that he sounds twice his age and that it seemed like the director only read one half of Razor's story and assumed he was solely a wolf boy, which is completely wrong. The Chinese VA is the best of both worlds but I'm not a big fan of the voice actress they used.
idk why, but the eng dub sounds a bit weird, i still like jp dub the most. before anyone call me out "waa english dub bad japanese dub good. i'm such a weeb" i actually really like childe and zhongli eng dub more than the jp dub. i even don't skip genshin ads if it has childe or zhongli, man their voice are great
@@soy5977 actually no, i don't like being called a weeb, because i don't worship japanese and think japanese is superior eventho they are pretty great. but i would still be called a weeb if my name don't have "weeb" in it and also people use the world "weeb" pretty often now that it doesn't sound like an insult anymore, so i'm fine with it now. "weeb" has became a funny word now and now i'm fine being called a weeb
Each VA gives off a complete different character... English sounds twitchy Japanese sounds terse and cool I'm least familiar with Chinese but he sounds... docile? Korean sounds tribal and cool
in my opinion: 1) japanese: he sounds super cool 2) korean: very nice, wild 3) chinese: i'm least familiar so that's why it's lower than korean 4) english: too goofy, childish and hyper for his background...
U really out here thinking that a child growing up with wolves can't have a sense of innocence? Reading his story and actually seeing how he interacts with his pack, English actually suits him WAY more. Japanese for example, makes him sound like he lived alone. Plus the awkwardness of how he talks in English makes way more sense. He literally says that talking is tiring but he tries his best. The other languages just make him sound bored or monotonous, not like he's struggling. Not to mention Chinese got him sounding like a little girl during battle, not even just young. Makes me uncomfortable lol.
@@blackbun130 Dude, the english version sounds like a furry sniffing people's armpits. It's fine if you like it, but theres a good reason why so many people dislike his english voice lol.
@@Rolling_Girl_falling_forever There's no "good" reason why people dislike razor's English dub. Let's just say people have their personal opinion. It's like you're saying English dub should be hated because of that "good" reason you're talking about. A lot of people prefers English dub too you know, same with Korean and Chinese.
Listening to the Chinese version (where mihoyo actually wanted Razor to sound and intended to sound like) Japanese did amazing. English sounds.. way too enthusiastic. Good job on the va's though.
Whattt am I the only one who prefers the English version? He sounds like such a good boy >< so freaking adorable when he stumbles over words and sounds that innocent
My favorite is the Eng one, he sounds super cute and for me it makes sense with his lore, he is a pure boy who just wants to be accepted, yk people has opinions, this is mine, JP is ok but I think the Eng suits him better
In this case for my gud boi Razor KR --> CN --> JPN --> EN I speak Chinese and English , learning Korean language (intensive) and a long time otaku. So I can pretty much feel it as I'm very familiar with all 4 languages.
I'm a Razor main and is using JP voice, I must say, I love hearing Tsukki moani--- grunting whever I climb and groa-- growl whenever I use his skills 😎 also this boi got sick damage love him so much 🥰
Opinion: Razor's English voice is good. There's a Danganronpa character, Gonta Gokuhara, he's also grown with wolves. Gonta is one of the sweetest characters in the whole game series, and it was noticeable in his voice lines - Gonta speaks in short sentences and his English is not too good, but his intonations show how nice and well-meaning he is. Basically the approach to Gonta's and Razor's dub is the same. I somehow have never seen anyone disliking Gonta's english voice; nobody says he should sound less emotional, either. Why is it different for Razor? Is it because his japanese voice is attractive? It doesn't make sense.
What the hell did they do to my boy Razor in English dub? I mean in all the other dubs, Razor sounds calm and some-what serious too. Keep in mind: I actually like Todd Haberkorn's voice. His performance is really good in a lot of anime dubs. But, who told him to make Razor sound like that?
Now I know why people are saying the English voice is off. I think it is because he sounds like he went through a personality change compared to the other language.
I think the tone(?) used in the Korean dub suits him quite well, though it does seem a bit forced to me. But then again, I hardly ever listen to people speak Korean, so there is a possibility that such a way of speaking is normal and I am just unaware of it. As for the Chinese, his attack voice lines sound a lot nicer than these. I rather like the Chinese audio in general, though it is a bit harder to understand the emotions being conveyed as a non-Chinese speaker, due to the tones. But it is still one of my favorite audios. I like the Japanese dub. I think his voice may be a bit too deep for his appearance (as he seems to be no older than 19), but overall the performance is very well done. The scratchier(?) voice in the English dub is…unique. It’s creative, considering that he was raised by wolves, and maybe the growl is something he picked up from them. It works well in terms of fandom, as the English speaking fans make a lot of memes, though that sort of voice also makes the character bit hard to take seriously at times. Of course, these are just my own thoughts on each performance, so please do not get upset about differences in opinions. This is just me sharing what I like and dislike about each of them.
The reason i want razor so much is because of kouki uchiyama lmao he's my favorite seiyuu. I think jp and cn suits him the most. But everyone have different preference so u do u
I played this quest in JP so I definitely like the JP. The chinese isn't bad too actually! I mean voice acting was never easy so respect to all these voice actors for putting in so much effort
En voice doesn’t sound nice imo, he sounds like a creep 😭😭 Japanese fits razor’s vibe Chinese sounds like that sheep chinese cartoon (idk I forgot what’s the exact name since I watched it a long time ago) it’s okay but nah Korean rlly sounds like a girl trying to sound like a guy lol
I don't think the Japanese one sounds old lmaooo. I think it sounds like a boy who is very shy and doesn't want to speak up cause he isn't confident in his japanese 🥺
Eeeh what is that English voice lol Chinese is so cute. Korean is okay but it really feels more like a woman speaking than a young boy which they seem to have been going for. I'm biased towards his JP voice because I love falling asleep to his calm, deep voice, but honestly ALL are better than whatever that English Dub was lol. And I'm not hating on the English Dub by default, I very much LOVE some of the English voices (Zhongli for example 😁).
I like the JP voice best. His voice may sound deep for a teen, but it completely showcases Razor's loneliness and solitude (since he's a boy raised as a wolf, but still doesn't belong anywhere T_T).
I like his Korean voice better because it gives him this soft but mysterious side to Razor which kinda fits his character. Also Who voiced him? In the Korean Dub
Can anyone talk about how unique Razor voice is? CN, JP and KR sounded the same and there's no uniqueness in the way that those VA deliver. How can a Boy lived and raised by the wolves sounded so fluent lol.
I'm genuinely curious why people like eng razor. I play the game in jp dub and the voice matches his personality. Lonesome and timid. It's even debatable the chinese or korean razor hits the right tone more. The english voice acting sounds unfitting for who he is, only one out of the four that sounds like that.
