Click Here To Subscribe! ► bit.ly/JOovvU - I'm out on the canal today, filming my first run of the iMPLUSE 31 electric speed boat. The manufacturer is "Proboat". As the sun is blazing hot, I think it's a perfect time to take the boat out! It sure likes to hop a lot - but I haven't dialled it in. I look forward to seeing how smooth I can get this boat! for 6s Lipo power, I was pretty darn happy! I think it has lot's more jam left, I just have to coax it out of the machine.
I used 5 Cameras for this film shoot, and I hope you enjoyed the perspective. It was fun to make on such a scorching day!

When it's hoping like that on smooth water, your prop is usually angled to deep.(verticaly down) You might want to angle your prop more shallow. - Nice to see you getting in to RC boating! :D

I was gonna say angle the tabs UP lol, give it some room to move back instead of the tabs pushing the front down prematurely, both could work :) Also move the battery back, tabs up, battery back, if it gets worse, switch it around lol. Boats are so simple to tune, I love it xD

The angle you put the prop at is why the boat is hopping instead of running on plane, great boat!

A canal with flowing water is the perfect recepy for disaster. If the boat flips over it will go away with the flow. Better a lake. I actually install 2 magnets in the hull and 2 other in the landing gear of my drone, when it flips over far from shore i send my drone hook it with the magnets and bring it back. Sounds crazy but works. Other guys usually have a recovery boat.

Great work Medic! It's probably been said a heap of times before in lower comments but try to rais your prop shaft a bit to make it shallower, this will make the the bow more stable and reduce hop. Another thing I've found in the past is replace the plastic prop for a metal one. The plastic ones will flex at high speed causing cavitation and less top speed. Keep up the good work!

Try starting you drive strut level with the bottom edge of the V . The center of the prop hub should just be under water when the boat is on plane. The angle of the strut will determine the way the nose of the boat rides . But to much angle will cause the boat to hop as the prop continuously fights to gain bite and loses because its fighting the hull shape . You need to keep trying till you get the strut just right. But starting with it level is a good beginning .... good luck bro!

Medic to gain stability bring the prop back shallower. That way the prop pushes less upward and doesn't propel the boat out of the water. That's why your jumping.

dang she is fast ! you may need to adjust the prop angle to stop the hop effect. try small increments up . you should notice less hop till you find the sweet spot. don't forget if you move the prop farther back back it's going deeper in the water. with a surface piercing prop at top dead center, one blade will be around 3/4 s (give or take) out of the water while running.

I have this same boat and have figured out how to tune it perfectly, if you want to eliminate the hop you'll need to run something with a straight edge and flush the tabs to the hull then bend them down a couple degrees, bring your turning all the way up and forward with the fins straight down or slightly angles back and viola!

Nice. fair hooks!!! Flat, still water and open her up, just the ripples from the current (while one 6s) will be enough to make it bounce badly. Fiddle with battery placement, forward more, to help stop it from porpoising like it was, or bend the trim tabs down a little. Its a killer boat man!!!!!

you might try trim tabs that can be adjustable. and trim up on the prop for high speed passes. Maybe a tiny fishing weight in the very front of the bow. Would give you best hole shot and high speed. Easy on the turning just a little bit will go a long way if you adjust the weight heavier in the bottom of the bow. will prevent skip hopping. and max speed as you can see when it glides over the water. cheers big brother f-1

Where you are running it looks really calm, Try giving it some down trim tab(so they are just downward of level with the bottom of the hull), batterys full foward, and set the prop adjustment up more. it wont bite untill its on plane but it should make it stop porposing so much at high speed.

Wicked fast. Prop angle might be a bit steep. Could also help to move the batteries forward, to stop the porpoiseing. Hope your cameras are waterproof. Keep up the great videos.

***** This boat is amazing! It looks very nicely constructed, with some balsa woods on the inside. The water guard is also a very good idea that I fell the traxxas Spartan did not do well. Obviously I would set it up a little better, cause it was hopping like hell. I love the production value of your videos lately. this one especially, was very well done sir! It's almost artistic in nature!

I haven't run boats for a few years, but one note -- I always had the most problems with the rudder servo being strong enough, especially on a full power run. It will do you a lot of good to run a High Torque water proof servo.... when you get into to a full power run with the throttle all the way to the "left", If memory serves me, it will lock to that side until the power is let off, It can be very unnerving if your close to the rocky shore.... Have a ball and always wear you life saver.... lol....

I don't have any pics, but I saw some long distance shots, showing a ton of graffiti all over it.. It made me kind of sad... I took my son's, Sean and Chris deer hunting in the Bookcliffs 2 yrs ago, for the 30+ yrs we went, it was 65 miles of dirt road to camp.... This time it was 6 miles of dirt. Utah in all its wisdom built a 4 lane highway 100+ miles across from Roosevelt to Grand Junction CO.. about 3 cars a day will use the road.... That is until the "Oil Shale" becomes viable... I had tears in my eyes, I was sick, I wish I had never seen the area again... and of coarse there were no animals left, the workers building the road made certain of that....

You could try adjusting your trim tabs down slightly to take out that porpoising effect before you consider altering your prop angle.

You should be able to adjust the height of the strut.

+Knapweed just grab it and bend it a degree or two. The tubing will bend that much easily, and strut will pivot in it's mount. Can also move battery fore or aft

the hopping is called porpoising, you need to adjust your drive angle or turn our trim tabs down

bring the prop back up and it should get alot more stable and you should always tape the hatch to keep the water out, iam no expert but learned a few lessons with my own boats ,, you gota nice boat there medic

I have NO RC boat experience but lots with REAL boars its chiming a lot that means the srakes are not getting enough bite you need to extend then (add surface). The hopping means that your trim is off (adjust or add trim tabs or adjust prop angle)

Hey Aaron, I think I would run the Pro Boat iMPULSE 31 on a lake.. The canal seems to have a stiff current which could contribute to the boat bounce..... :O) I would also try the Pro Boat iMPULSE 31 with 3S to see if this helps.... :O)

Outta the box these boats have issues with hop. I had to adjust my trim tabs about a 1/4 inch down to get to ride nice and flat. Rips. Cant wait to take some more footage of it.

Medic i love your videos and would love to help you in any way possible so... I actually am involved as part of the crew with a 1:1 race boat called a tunnel hull, they reach speeds of 120mph+ and I am also on the water a lot with my Dad's boat. A boat reaches what is called plane when it gets high enough out of the water that it actually becomes less effected by the water conditions. So if you can get this boat up to plane it will ride a lot amoother and theoretically not bounce! :) anyways have fun, i do watching!!!

Its hoping around cause the prop is to deep in the water its biting to much wanting to make the boat stand up since its a vhull it should run fairly flat amd smooth the catamaran style will hop and bounce more as it sits on top thw water instead of in the water like the vhull

I think when you lowered the prop, youre getting too much bite, and its jumping out of the water because of it. You definitely have to play with it to get max performance, NOW GET OUT THERE AND PLAY HARD LIKE ALWAYS.

The reason it's hopping is because either you put the prop too far down, or your trim tabs are bent down too much.

Both are nice boats and run at similar speeds. In this video the boat is not set up correctly which is causing the hopping. In my opinion the spartan looks and feels cheap as it is made out of plastic where as the impulse is made out of fiberglass with balsa wood in the interior. Honestly it comes down to where you are running it, if you crash (shallow rivers/etc) the spartan or wreck the hull you could easily buy a new cheap plastic spartan hull. If you completely wreck the impulse you are down a lot of money.

Mark de Gray honestly i like the idea of just buy a new shell. it's great for trucks. trashed a few bodies bashing my trucks pretty good. nice to be able to just replace that instead of an entire boat.

The spartan is stupid fast in a straight line on a big smooth as glass water way. Pro boat handle much better and handle a bit of ripples in the water better. No rc boat in the that size can really handle much chop. The other thing is plastic hall of Traxxas if it ever cracked or broke you wold need a new one or have an ugly repair. Fiber glass can be fixed perfectly. And is more durable. I have a proboat stiletto29 that lost signal and went full speed head on into a rock wall. Split it in 5 places and some chunks of fiberglass broke off. Now it looks better than new. And fiberglass makes you want to put a custom paint job on it

I both it in 2014, i watch your videos running your Impluse 31 , i am using two 7.2v battery 5000MAH 50c. I would like to run it on 6s, would it be ok if i run it on two 11.1v 5000 MAH 50c or two 11.1v 5000 MAH 30c witch one of the batery would you Recommend i shohld used?
