This is the most explanatory video I have seen so far. This is as of now my tuning bible! Why? Well, for starters, it is the video that covers what happens when you lean out the main needle. Novarossi engine tutorials never show that, for obvious and expensive reasons. I really appreciated this and it is now in my library here in YT, so that i watch it whenever I need. Many thanks!

I want you really thank you for that video and knowledge contained in it. I watched many videos about tuning a nitro engine. I figure from them how more or less should engine work and I figure how to recognize that the engine gets not enough fuel after he warms up, but from your video, I managed to perfectly understand and tuned all my engines. My HPI T3.0 now runs like a crazy beast, my two VX18 stopped dozing off at the start and have become more aggressive. Once again, big thanks!

Wrong! Lets point out to you too, there IS NO IDLE SPEED NEEDLE built onto the engine! The engine designer didn't give your engine an idle. You can't adjust idle speed from the low speed needle or the high speed needle. These features are for adjusting the car WHILE ITS IN MOTION. Not while standing still idling away! This is NOT fun and games! Your engine doesn't have an idle setting screw or feature! Everything you've been told in the vid is total bullshit! From an uneducated dic head!
Easiest way to tune the low end is to pinch off the fuel line as close the carburetor as possible. If it dies right away it's to lean, if it runs for 5 seconds or more it's to rich. When pinched engine should rev for 2-3 seconds then die.
THE ULTIMATE SECRET FROM WINNER RACER!! In all the videos I've watched about carburetor adjustments for nitro rc engines not a single one talks about the secret I'm about to reveal to you that makes the difference between first, second and third on the podium. The low speed must be adjusted richer than normal but the motor must still turn well between 1/4 opening and 3/4 because the needle in the center of the slide controls from idle to 3/4. From 3/4 to full trottle you can put the slide needle in your pocket and it wouldn't change the mix. The result is that when the engine is running full throttle and you release the triger quickly the engine wants air and fuel but the slide is closed so a lot of gas (and oil) goes into the engine and cools it down and lubricates it better. Think about this.. How many seconds do you keep full trottle in a race...2 or 3 seconds.. then you can adjust the high speed needle leaner than normal and gain rpm and horsepower and by releasing the trigger very quickly for a fraction of a second like before entering a curve it cools much more and the temperature of the engine will not have time to rise above 250 degrees and you have maximum power.
That's wot I've been doin! Both high an low needles r good! It doesn't change revs wen idling (up or down) an de performance is summit else!! I got de 4.6 trophy truggy! But still I can't get it 2 idle properly!? Any tips please!?
Kinda new into this tuning thing right and I've been having trouble with my nitro rustler, maybe it's the 2wd but it's just accelerating way too fast when in idle I'd be pleased if I could get a reply helping me since the idle screw doesn't seem to do the job! Now I do Think it might be the throttle itself so to speak but I don't really know how to decrease the throttle without touching the servo but I do have my suspections it might be with the low speed needle to do.

hey when you said you need to start with all the needles flush are you talking about the high needle the low needle and the idle screw? I have a lost eight rtf someone please reply I need help asap thank you!
Start with factory settings. They are always rich for break in. Yes he means high speed low speed and idle. Flush is probably the factory setting for that engine. Just a tip though, run a half tank to warm up the engine then tune. Don’t tune cold or with a full tank. Tune a warmed up engine with half a tank of fuel. Those engines get lean at lower fuel levels so tuning at half a tank will get good results
If the car doesnt twitch or want to move forward when its on the ground i wouldnt worry about it too much. Your clutchshoes, bell and bearings will still be somewhat breaking in after 10 tanks if you have been driving slowly to break in the engine. You might have done it already, but try to adjust your idle screw to the lowest idle you can without the engine stopping, and then just a hair higher. Forget about the high and low speed needles when doing this, just tinker with the idle screw. If the wheels are moving really fast off the ground, and you can hear the engine getting under load when you stop the wheels with your hands, you have a broken clutch spring, or waaaay to soft clutch springs.
good video but.... ajust the hi speed on the starter box is so bad cause when the car is on the grund and the engine is in demand it needs more gas to work well so on the starter box (the wheels out of the ground) the high speed must be adjusted richer otherwise when the engine is solicited it will not have enough gas and much less cooling and lubrication and performance.
IPAD IPAD u can’t blow up the engine from running it rich only if your too lean, if your running to rich your engine will flood. By the way flooding your engine does no harm to it if u do flood it unscrew the spark plug, tip the car upside down and pull the starter cord until u see bits of fuel coming out, it shouldn’t be much fuel coming out.👍

Make sure your throttle is set up correctly. That the carb closes and the epa is set so the servo only pulls the carb slide to the end of the venturi or carb body. Set your idle gap to 1mm then tune the engine. The reason the wheels are spinning is either your radio isnt set up properly or youve turned your idle gap in too far. Honestly you should do lots of research before buying into a hobby like nitro rcs

Nice way to teach people how to blow their engines you don't do that so many times I was waiting for the connecting rod to break and I still hear hesitation in mid Tower. You trying to talk over the engine and no one could hear what you're saying.omg I would never recommend anyone. Last but not least stop resting your nuts on the table when you're tuning that shit is funny as fuck put some underwear on you won't have to rest them on the table LMAO
