Man this game was awesome! I remember spending hours trying to win championships with every single car and building cool tracks of my own for my brother and I to try out as well.
I just randomly thought about this game and it's crazy how it stuck with me. It's not particularly memorable, but I played the shit out of this when I was super young.
Had the ps1 version game but played it on the ps2 cause I didn’t know the pro edition was a thing. For that reason every time I started the game up I had to start from the beginning since I didn’t have a ps1 memory card. I find it funny cause I remember playing for like 7 hours straight just to get near the end and try out new cars. I was like 5/6 years old doing this lol. Loved this game.
Ohhhh my god... my childhood game but when i played it on my ps1 as a 4 year old kid the game was black and white for some reason but i still enjoyed it af
heh, so many of the places where it looks like they are messing up were actually intentional: mostly just those times where they would run up on an edge in some of the turns, those cars handled WEIRD so a lot of the time the best course of action was kinda unintuitive, it also made for the stats of the cars being secondary to how often the individual car would go screwy: canary XL, jungle ranger, and RC Action were the best of the early ones to use because of that, the final endgame car concept3000 kinda sucked because of this screwy statloss mechanic, and the second to last car UFO had low~ish stats but ignored it entirely and thus could outpace the F1 on a straightaway, let alone handle better in the turns, it was pretty bad for pushing fights with other cars though so it wasn't exactly perfect, just the best overall...unless it was a water level, then jungle ranger was absurdly good for some reason.
completely agree, it was always Jungle Ranger, Canary XL, UFO or Sarge who were just behind you when you were first. I think as a bot they really pushed Jungle Ranger more for whatever reason, it was always a good strat to load your weapon on him as he was the biggest threat. Funny to remember all this, as it was a crazy entertaining game for a kid to play. I can't count the number of hours I played the original levels and all the ones I created in the map editor. Pretty good memories of an innocent childhood.
The PS1 wasn't powerful enough to run the prequel to this game never mind this sequel the N64 is much more powerful than PS1 and even that struggled with the original they should have released this on Dreamcast and PS2 only.
