Hi buddy, I used to have one of these (the chassis) when I was a kid and recently I've become obsessed with RC again. When I was 9 I didn't even realise upgrades and spares existed lol. Bought one last week and it already has a plethora of problems, your videos are really helping me choose upgrades! Thank you for your help mate.

Best upgrade and durability guide for the HSP truck I've seen. My son has one of these, and I've been struggling with the best upgrade path. Great hint on using a drift shell.

Thank you so much! Yeah the car bodies are fun and some are surprisingly tough.

Stay away from 3s.

Good video! I too am now struggling with snapped drive shafts after installing a 3660 motor and 3s, Like you said 3s is probably too much for these, however the power and acceleration is so much fun!😁 I need to look into the servo and earplugged diff.

Haha I know right? The extra power is hard to resist once you try it. And yeah the 25kg servo made a big difference, def recommend, especially if you can program the esc to get 7.4v to it. Its faster but also because of more power you can tighten down the steering linkage/servo saver more and lessen the slop a bit. Earplugs in the diffs are great too, basically acts like limited slip. Putting them in front and rear was fun but it made it really easy to spin out, open rear and plugged front was stable but drifty and easy to control.

This is a chinese designed hsp that has been used as a plethora of other branded rc cars . Its actually not bad at all with tons of aftermarket support. It was actually designed to be used as a road car/ buggy / shortcourse. When in monster truck form its at its limits when you bash hard.

For sure, I had tons of fun with them. Great intro vehicle too because it forced me to learn to rebuild and fix it constantly. (Learning to drive combined with hard bashing equals lots of repairs haha…) With small wheels and 2s power they can definitely be pretty tough.

Redcats TRMT10E and the renamed RCMT10E were the first real bashers Redcat ever made. And they were the first truck designed by Redcat and made at the Team Redcat factory in Taiwan. The TR is made for 3s. The Volcano is an HSP with many Redcat improvements. The spur gear cover which is a huge improvement. It keeps all the little stones out and makes it greaseable, and Redcat has longer travel shocks are the main differences. Volcano, like your HSP cannot handle 3s and self destructs before your very eyes. I have two Volcanos, one nitro and they're all metal, so they don't break any longer. But I did have to power my electric one with an 8th scale high KV racing motor and 150amp ESC to get it to move. Now it breaks, or bends axles because of it, so I found heavy duty axles it can't bend, so it shears the pins on them. You can't win. Today, I prefer my Hosim X07. Even though it's never broken, I don't like using my TRMT10E because it's been discontinued and Redcat is no long supplying a full set of parts for them. Good luck with your Bronto, it was the original Volcano. I always loved the Octo shocks. Somebody's got one running around that has only two shocks in the front and four in the back. Now that's a strange one. How well does the gyro work wrapped in a balloon? The key to the Diffs is to shim them and get the slop out, and grease them. You shouldn't be able to hear or feel them. The Diffs will last forever if you do this.

Thanks for the info, that's interesting. Yeah it's a fun truck but needs to stay on 2s to be durable. Shim diffs 💯 crucial for sure, as soon as I started doing that I had way less failure. Receiver ballon works great, I have that on most of my trucks. I switched to Team Associated Rival MT10s last summer and dont have the HSP's anymore, but they gave many fun days!

I asked about the gyro because isn't it in the receiver? And doesn't it have to be flat and level? How do you do that with it in a balloon? @@shralpRC
@shralpRC
@shralpRC 9 месяцев назад
@@dannysdailys yeah that receiver has a gyro. As long as it’s calibrated with the truck sitting on flat surface I never had any issues.

Well okay, you should know. But you do realize that even sounds wrong. It doesn't matter now as you no longer even have the truck. @@shralpRC

Perfect video, really good content. I'm choosing parts to get one chassis HSP 94111 (all from aliexpress) as it is much more affordable where I live, probably getting lots of yours recommendations, was going with the one with the under plate in aluminium, but based on what you says it is not worth it, but I think I will have a hard time to know all the naming and what parts to get to improve the chassis itself. On electronics at first I was thinking on going with a 3650 hobbywing motor, but looking around I might go with 3660 and change the gear (just because if I upgrade to a different / better / "branded" chassis in the future, around here we can usually only find 1/8 rc cars and 1/8 "projected" off-road speedways / tracks, and a 3660 can usually be used with those 1/8 ), what kind of speeds you get with 3660 3200kv motor? And you can usually run it for long? For ESC was going 120a from hobbywing as well, and a 3s lipo. For radio, still did not decided (have some recommendations, will take a look on the one you uses as well). Wheels / Tires was going with the default one, but maybe will take a look on a better one, can you recommend names / brands?

Hey thanks! I've clocked about 56 km/h with the 3200kv, but it would definitely go faster if you have fresh bearings and tight linkages/etc. On 3s is is pretty overpowered so keeping it going straight and not flipping is the real challenge haha... The HW max10 SCT is a great esc too. Never had any overheating issues with motor or esc. Love the Flysky GT5 controller, and the receivers for that have a gyro which really helps with the stabilization at high speed. Will need a mod 0.6 pinion gear to mesh with the stock spur, 17t was the smallest pinion I could fit. Larger pinion would give a higher top speed too, but probably cause more drivetrain issues. Stock wheels and tires work pretty well and are pretty solid, just make sure to seal the holes in the rim and add 2 vent holes to each tire otherwise they fill with water eventually. Most 12mm hex SCT or MT style wheels will fit, just keep in mind the larger you go the more stress they put on the other components. I've had good luck with these wheels, just a bit larger than stock but not too much. They used to be a lot cheaper though. Duratrax, Proline, and Arrma wheels are great, but more expensive. Arrma's might need a hub adapter too. www.ebay.com/itm/313897007411?hash=item4915b83933:g:MjwAAOSwQ5hiFdyF&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8JmRHIML6oc29GTFf90Sz6kJGegQ0TOGj%2BCA75hmwESTcqkfJRSmkE7BO2%2FWPfx6bXBLuX2uFvrlWEcsSwB%2F%2FF7fvK2cZjFClXXLJPAqOwXO7IHfcvYgytWrPrgoJp2Q2WHGFSNfqmkdH6O9zEIzUlaAgok7DC3mjHih7dVS5RKjgPYszQa9Cfi%2BMsQOd7QKICGxDgmfqqG2qWx71q3yL2SoB%2B4dBp%2BUAIxnD1q%2BVRML2LUazDbJ3bRJv8M3u2EtsxQEXIlcokkGe%2FGKMj1al%2F5lGCzdugntPI1%2B9PZaOX7wJFRs08F9rnFz10lnfgtdIQ%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR-ySjYvaYA

can i recommend also getting rid of the plastic hex nuts for the wheels and replace with metal it allows you to be able to crank the wheel nuts tight as hell with out it binding up and fixes so much play i hope your see this as this was the first and best thing i have done to mine
