RC ROCK crawler full UPGRADE | HB p1803 2.4ghz  

If you have spare servos, a cheap esc and receiver laying around, this 'cheap' 1/18 scale rockcrawler can really shine. Even if you have to purchase everything, it is worth the fun of being able to build a competent crawler for dirt cheap. I've upgraded mine with a cheap HobbyKing brushed esc, a compact 2s 1200 mah lipo meant for electric planes, a proper standard servo and a specktrum receiver. This thing now has some serious crawling power and it took me maybe an hour to do the upgrades. Disassembly is SUPER easy, everything is screwed together from the factory, so you shouldn't have to cut or destroy anything on the body or chassis. IMPORTANT: If you are using a 7.4v battery you MUST set the throttle trim (max throttle) to 50% or you will most likely burn out the motors. They MAY be able to handle 7.4v for a short time, but I believe they will probably overheat and prematurely wear out. I am not sure why this guy is 'reinventing the wheel' with the servo linkage. I used a similar full sized servo and just used the factory linkage (I did have to slightly drill the servo horn to fit my standard servo) I'm probably going to post a video of what I've done. What I like about my set up is the compact lipo battery fits almost perfectly into the stock compartment (No battery loosely mounted up top like it is in this video) The truck has variable throttle/steering and some SERIOUS power...it performs on par with my friends $110 Axial Deadbolt and cost me $27

Thanks for putting up this video. I just finished my version of this mod. I went with a micro servo, a micro receiver, and was able to not have ANY wires/cables hanging out. I got all the electronics in the chassis and use the stock battery compartment for lipo battery. Initial testing is good. I'll be posting more info on my channel soon. BTW you can order replacement motors off Banggood, I've had to replace a couple of motors on another stock one of these I have. Thanks again for the inspiration!

I got the same one. Didnt actually increases performance like you did. I put a flat bracket shaped to lock the front suspension. Shaped a metal brush gaurd for the front and matched the 2 of set skrews with the steering adjuster cut out. I also moved both shocks to the back in new locations. It's all new to me so super fun. Nice video! Would be cool to get a big wheel and increase the size till you get a good top speed.

That esc can work at 1S lipo so it might be worth trying it with a 1S for lower crawling speed and lighter weight. It might then be possible to fit it in the battery compartment for lower CoG. Also you can buy springs on ebay with a thinner wire. might be nice to setup the springs a bit softer.

If you took 2x front axles so one was on the back and have 2 steering servos wired in parallel or setup a mix on the transmitter for some sort of rear steer. What do you think? Possible? Worth it?

At 2:04 you put something to the tower pro. Was it there itself on the car or did you buy it? the screws also? Same doubt at 2:18.

Nice upgrade. I want to know that isn't that power effect to the wheels gears? I think the plastic gears will burn or distroy fast because of high torque and speed.

My truck is non modified and stock parts greased up, i burnt the rear motor smoking trying to get her out of the mud, Simply took apart the motor inside and replaced it with a new coil set

At 4:24 you plugged in the wires to a transmitter. is there any order for plugging in or could we plug it anywhere in the transmitter?

After doing all things can it work with their normal remote?

This 1000mah lipo how many mins lasted ? I want more time to run so shall I use 5000mah 7. Volts lipo ? Will it explodes if I use higher may?

Every look cool, but i try to included speed levels too, like slow climbing like expensive crawler has. Normally one speed that come with the box, if this vdo or it have but not in vdo can you show as well please, that will be appreciated and also i read other comment about brushed motor, can you sent the link as well too please, i try to upgraded only once and last long.
