This a install video of the RCBS Powder Checker 87590 on my Dillon XL650. I also cover the issue with it not checking anything under .25 caliber and how I made it work on .223/5.56.
Here is a link to the Powder Check on Amazon:

Thanks for checking in!

I have been using this for a few months now and love it. I have it on my Lee Classic Turret, Lee 6000, and will be purchasing another on for my new Hornaday Lock-N-Load AP which I'm very excited about. One tip I can pass on, with .223 on my Lee 6000 the indicator rod which slides up and down sometimes touches the case and raises much higher than the white O-Ring. Being that there is a cone to guide the case, and the sliding rod hangs below it this can happen. So I am adding another O-Ring (black) to hold the rod up a little so it is above the cone. That should guide the case better and avoid the false overfill appearance. Don't know why RCBS didn't think of this

@Green Juan I had sent an email to RCBS telling them about adding the 2nd O-Ring. It was logical. The small bullet size exacerbate the problem a larger bullet wouldn't.

3 years late but maybe you figured it out but you skipped past the use for .22 cal - 6mm. It was on the section before the .25 - .30 cal info. It said for .22 cal - 6mm to put the white cap on the threaded portion of the rod and insert the other end into the die. Basically what you did, but you used the threaded plug. So there was no issue with the die or anything that needed fixed, you just skipped that part of the instructions. But good on you for problem solving.

Howdy! I just started watching your vids, and will start reloading soon (doing my research and due diligence BEFORE getting started). You said that you use your Dillon primarily for 5.56/.223. I am looking at reloading this caliber, but also 7mm-08, 9mm Luger, and .22LR. From your statement, will you please provide your thoughts on whether the Dillon will do these calibers as well? Much appreciated, and keep up the vids...they are great! P.S. I'm hoping to get my Dillon mid-August.

Hello!! I reload .223, 9mm, .45acp, .308 and 300BO on the 650. All work wonderfully. I would not recommend using it for the 7mm-08 as I would think this would be better suited for a single stage press. 22lr is a whole different story. And you'll have to do your own research on it. I would recommend any of the Dillon products to anyone. The build a great product that they stand behind. Good luck on your reloading journey!! Like and subscribe if you haven't already!! 73!

Thanks for the info! Can you expand on why a single stage press would be better for 7mm-08? Also, why is 22LR different? Thanks again!!!!

So is the RCBS powder checker better than Dillon's or just an alternative? I ask because I have the Dillon, should I check it out? I've watched your other Dillon XL 650 upgrades, I'm going to upgrade based on your videos. thanks!

mbatson13 thanks for the comment!! I would say that the rcbs is a alternative. There is no audible alarm on this like the dillon. So you'll have to check or look at it each time. Something that I didn't mention is wipe the rod with a laundry sheet to take the static out of the rod or the powder will stick to it... I'm glad you're enjoying the vids!
