I would re-design the wing servo mounts. It's not a terrible thing to depart from the plans and make mods and strengthen some areas. I'm building an ancient Dave Platt 1/6 Waco YMF3 and It's a builders kit!!! There are a few areas where I have elected beef it up and the instruction booklet is pretty bad. You have think ahead or you'll be in trouble. Die cutting is pretty good and most parts fit ok But it's no over night project. It'll be really nice when finished with a .91 four banger.
The servo mount location is interesting, and you pointed out the logistical problems. You point about the poor guy that gets it covered and then wants to install the radio is a situation which would be poignant. It's like the ultimate extension of what I call the ship-in-a-bottle approach to building that was recommended by most earlier kits, where you build the plane then add the radio system. Probably very logical back in the day when people might not have had multiple systems to use. I'd say sometime in the late '80s or early '90s, when I had sufficient receivers and servos at hand, I started doing radio installs in the airframe as soon as practicable. It's so much easier. I also do power systems the same way, as much as possible. You spoke of Legend Hobbies. They're a big deal down here in Texas, very supportive of the modeling community. I'd say the event they pay the most attention to is the annual Gathering of the B17s, in September at Bomber Field (just outside of Houston). The bombers are the stars of the show but it's actually a 3 day (Thu-Sat) giant scale event.
The MBM RC channel looks great. Huge thanks to Andy also for this channel, keeping the traditional form of model aviation alive is so important. Take me back to the early 90s please, give me a Midwest Superhots, an OS61 up front, and a JR PCM-10 for guidance. I'll be a happy guy...
I have one powering my Phoenix Models Stinson. It’s a great engine I love it. I did have to modify the choke. Covered up with solder the small hole. DLE is awesome
Be careful of the spark plugs as I put a little pressure on the boot and plug broke in half lol . Haven't ran my 40cc yet but putting it in my seagull savage shock cub . Beautiful build man !
andy what the hell are you talking about everything you say and do is very anticipated and right down to crap in the corner we want to know for at least me glad to see you every week again happy holidays 👍✌
Andy Ive been with rcgf from the beginning I have had very good luck with them after talking to them about an engine I have I was told that dle and rcgf all come from relatives in china and they are trying to make engines at an affordable price to sell good engines i have had only 1 problem with my rcgf and that was from me not noticing a missing pulse tube
This doesn't pertain to this video, but I was wondering if you could point me in the direction to obtain a decal set for a 120 Super Chipmunk with the fiberglass fuselage. I have enjoyed your building video on the Carolina Custom Super Chipmunk. .
