If it was an U.S spec RD 350.. Which produces about 41BHP... Your comment would have been like this.... "The fact that a bike from 2014 can't keep up with the retro ones is terrifying.....
@diogoalbuquerque6511 wait till I get my RDs out of their long slumber and post videos on them. They're still on CB points but will be able to manage a much better time than the one in this video (it was shiny from the outside but not great engine wise).
Even if the RD was absolutely bone stock and, say, within two years of it leaving the factory, just like the R3, it would have been a close match. This RD of my cousin looks great but it wasn't the best specimen around engine wise. My own RDs (two) are the opposite. They are in shambles cosmetically, but engine wise they are way healthier than most RDs. They have been in hibernation and I intend to bring them out soon. Shall post the acceleration videos then. 😀
@@RealAutoReviews I saw somewhere that in India it is illegal to do aftermarket modifications to vehicles. Where I live in the U.S. most bike enthusiasts have aftermarket performance parts. Out of curiosity, what happened to vehicles that were already modified prior to the law that banned mods?
You are right. All are required to revert to stock. A few have, but the majority hasn't. Big bikes in India are still taken out only on weekends so people try to find routes that don't have cops. 😁
@@piperfect yes, thats true. but applicable mostly for cities only. In towns and rest of India , there is lot of scope to ride tuned machines, even without proper papers. Best time is early morning.
The one riding the RD is much younger than the one riding the R3. Plus, you really need to read my replies to others to get the rest of your answers. Lastly, expect to see Acceleration videos of not one but TWO RDs on this channel. (An '83 HT and an '88 LT) 😊
@@ark1289 by any chance did you watch my recent videos where I started both RDs after a gap of 8 years? Do watch! And I shall try to get you more videos on the RDs 😃
This RD350 needs servicing even the sound isn't in aproper order and for a race u need a two Good, Experienced same weight riders to race two machines not one with 100+ kg and another with 50-60 kg rider.
Neither here is 100 kg 😂 Also, although this RD wasn't a prime example engine wise, even a brand new "stock" RD wouldn't have been able to beat the R3. I wrote about it in 2017. Google RD vs R3 and you will know. That said, I will be doing timed runs of both my RDs that are great engine wise, but absolutely shabby cosmetically 😁
@@tombartram7384 the Jawa 350 was NEVER a fast bike even when compared to its contemporaries. On the other hand, the RD was known as a giant killer. No comparison between these two bikes. But it's good to know that you have a Jawa 350. We need to cherish these bikes and ride them as.mucj as.we can before they switch over to electrical appliances on wheels 😐
@@RealAutoReviews Hear hear. My bike is modern Jawa identical to the black one currently on ebay and you can still buy them new. When I see ordinary bikes it feels like they're Ryanair and I'm me262.
While most are commenting two strokes and legend and what not. Let me add in these years technology has afvanced a lot. The r3 has way lesser power loss than the rd. No matter how legendary the rd was a modern bike will always be faster due to better technology
I am so tempted to reply, "No $hit, Sherlock!" because you completely missed the point, which is, a 40-year old 27 PS (when new) bike keeping up with a "42 PS latest tech" motorcycle: that's f**kin phenomenal! The RD is a global legend. You should read about it. Start with Googling "RD vs R3" and you will get a text article as well from 2017...
@@RealAutoReviews it's not keeping up. A two stroke has one power stroke for every crank rotation. That's why it's faster in acceleration. Try doing that all day and the four stroke will return home. The two stroke will go for rebuild because cooling and lubrication is Achilles heel of two stroke. And regarding Rd then I know it's legendary history because my brother had Rd350 with completely us spec rebuilt. But he sold it because no use wasting time and money in maintaining it.
@@sibun7113 It is keeping up, and quite beautifully at that! And no one will ride like that all day, including the R3 owner. That said, a two stroke can be ridden fast all day without any breakdowns, forget needing a rebuild. You just need to know how to ride one. You haven't owned one that's why you don't know. Your brother might have owned one but he couldn't keep it for long because he didn't have the knowledge to keep it running. I own two RDs and both have been my absolutely reliable daily runners for over two decades. Haters of RDs are usually those.people who can't own one. Bitter truth.
@@RealAutoReviews he couldn't keep one. Haha nice joke. In his situation he is alive. Anyone else would have been dead. And modern bikes are 400% more reliable than a Rd. And that's a fact. Else people would have been still riding Rd.
@sibun7113 yes, that's how technology works, that's how evolution works 🤦 Like you are fitter than you dad, but doesn't mean that you will call him a joke. Or perhaps you do. The fact is that an old bike is able to keep up with the most advanced motorcycle in the segment, which can't be said of all bikes from the past. And THAT stamps its legendary status. Of course, losers who sold their bikes because they can't handle it and its upkeep will continue to hate it. A classic case of sour grapes 🤣
This video completely left me hanging. You didn't even list the times for the Rd and didn't even have multiple races under different conditions to make it fair and equal. Sorry you need to put up a video Worthy and fair
Where did I say it's an HT? It's an LT. However, no HT or even the 39 HP US RD would have been able to beat the R3 here. Google RD vs R3 and read the first article that comes in the search result.
Armature rd rider is driver not a rider any 2 Stroke owner knows what he invested for in his machine the sheer rise of rpm is in DNA of 2 stroke be it rd or Mazda rx7 2 strokes are the epicentre while 4 strokes are baby aftershoks
@@strykergaming9297 no it doesn't 🤦 You need to watch our complete RD350 series. In fact, we are the only one in the world (yes, not just in India) to have done that series. Watch it and you will learn a lot more about this bike in addition to the basics. 😊
LOL, no! 😂 Forget the Indian RDs, even the US RD in its original 39 hp form wouldn't be able to beat the R3. The R3 is both quicker and faster. However, the fact that the margin is almost negligible, even after almost 45 years, that itself speaks volumes about the two-stroke wonder. 😃
You clearly don't have any idea what RD was and still is! Comparing a twin-cylinder two-stroke "sportbike" from the 70s to a lazy single cylinder thumper? Lol
No bro, he just wanted to save the engine from saving. It wasn't as good mechanically as it was cosmetically. But no worries, I shall soon be doing acceleration runs of my two RDs. They are cosmetically as they should be as old bikes, but mechanically they are absolute BOMBS 😎
Hahaha. Next time please drag with an experience rider. A 4 stroke engine can never defeat 2 stroke engine. Also if that RD 350 is HT version then even Ninja 400 won't catch up. A wasted drag.
Nope. Forget about HT, even the US RD with its 39 hp wouldn't have been able to defeat it. That said, once the lockdown is over I will be doing acceleration runs on both my RDs ('88 LT and '83 HT). The acceleration times will show whether a determined rider would have made a difference. 😃
Bro no matter because the bhp of r3 is about 42 And rd is less than that 32 or 39, probably If the 2 stroke also 42 bhp Then we can see the real race that's it
