I love how articulate your English is. Even with an accent you do 10x better than other gear video youtubers. Your experience also adds to the intrigue. Never used these myself, but saw them used when i was in Syria. One thing they have over the M18 we use in the US is that they produce a lot more smoke much more quickly. M18 usually takes a few seconds and doesn't really build up until the 20/30 second mark. Good content man keep this up!
Cool vid , i really think you should name the vids like this something like "RDG 2B smoke grenade from Tarkov" might attract a wider audience. Like the vid with the AK74 mag loader its interesting stuff i havent seen elsewhere
@@valgear5525 i 100% agree with this your quality is better than most channels with thousands of subs you deserve way more attention to your work i would suggest taking a look at similar vid types and see what they name the vids but i agree with the original comment tarkov is really big right now and people will want to see the stuff from game irl
@@valgear5525 just to show you the algorithm is working im an avid tarkov player and i got this in my reccomended and instantly clicked and have watched an hour of your videos now hahahaha. Changing the name absolutely worked
Awesome video! It was great that, aside from demonstrating the smoke grenade actually working, you also discuss their practical use and the issues you might run into when using them.
Its actually insane the amount of guys without much military training who went to ukraine in the begenning and had knowledge of guns, grenade cause of tarkov, squad, arma ect. people think it doesnt matter but you do learn a LOT of theory
Your content is great! You are one of those rare channels that provides information found nowhere else on the platform and the style of presentation is just right. I just now found your stuff, instantly subscribed and I will undoubtedly binge watch everything right away. Thanks & please keep churning out the gold!
This video was a real treat, especially with your insightful commentary! I was wondering about the moisture resistance in particular, it seemed like a strange choice to make the body from cardboard, however I suppose that beats eating some shrapnel if it decides to explode!
Excellent video, concise, informative, and pragmatic. I've leart a lot about this ubiquitous, mundane but quirky piece of ex-soviet kit. Thank you very much. Gus
Yo ngl (and I know its the whole purpose) but i seriously didn't see you for a solid minute in the snow until you threw it 🤣 this grenade is also in Ghost of Tabor a VR game. Cool video cheers
Yeah, but keep in mind it's essentially just a jumbo "Smoke Bomb" firework, VASTLY speeding up and lowering the cost of mass production (Which we all know Soviet & ComBloc countries LOVE) as its just a wax impregnated cardboard tube for water resistance, filled with an ignitable smoke compound which depending on what you pick can be extremely cheap, simple, and effective; with smoke baffles drilled or shaped into the compound once it's cured/hardened to allow sufficient, consistent, and efficient smoke production, a 2-part self contained igniter added with 1 piece at each to be used together, and finally sealed at both ends to further weather proof(Resist) the Smoke Grenade. Sure, Western Screening and Signaling grenades have greater performance and are MUCH more reliable, consistent, and weather resistant. But they also are more complicated and more expensive to produce with them usually having a metal body with the cans baffles machined or stamped, possibly more complex mixtures for smoke compounds (Or simpler/safer, who knows), and a full on, whole-ass real grenade fuze assembly, powder train or fuze and everything to set them off, all with much stricter quality control, etc. While this makes them MUCH better, it also makes Western/NATO ones slower and more expensive to produce and essentially requires a dedicated production facility compared to what're essentially classic Eastern-Bloc "Quantity Over Quality" Mil-Spec smoke bombs similar to the firework smoke grenade sticks for approx $0.50ea we all got during 4th of July when we were kids (Those of us in the states, of course), unfortunately even those are like $1.50-$2.00+ now and fireworks just like groceries, what you used to spend filled your cart and lasted the week or even two, now it all fits in a single basket for the same price as that old cart-full and just lasts only a few days. The USSR also used these types (Cardboard tube and self contained match-style ignitor) of Smoke Grenades in WWII for the same reasons, so they already had massive stockpiles and knew their pros when needing to mass produce millions cheaply and simply in and for a total, large scale war. So I'm not surprised they stuck with it.
I want to say I seen your anti personnel mine video and was wondering you never see the Italian toe poppers that are non metallic? Those are a pain because they can't be detected by metal detectors.
I used this type of smoke grandae many times. Don't like them, to big and to time consuming to use. And the black smoke ones, like to burn the whole surfface where they drop, and also explode :)
What is that AT weapon that you are carrying at the end of the Video? It looks very much like a Panzer faust but modernized it'd be nice if you did a video on it.
They don't make new ones for over 30y now, and if you want that old one just imagine what would happen when they scan package for explosive (you would get home visit Homeland security)
@@User-dc6sm I think he is ukranian, and not in the military more like one of those paramilitary groups. Atleast what he shows in other videos he can't be in a regular military force with such a weird things, like FAL, AMD65, RPG76 etc.
From ex yugoslavia smoke grenades are still good till this day ,but they were produced like conserve whit aluminium body ( or for tear gas/ shock bombs rubber )and you can start them by friction, el capsule whit 9V 🔋 from distance ( or lots of them on same 🔌) , or direct heat ( 🧨🪔) But I use this kind but black one on football stadium and it has nice smoke from bought side's ( after this vid no way I will hold that in my hands and 🧨 it 🤦🏻/ fck votka)
It is amazing how old and unreliable alot of Soviet stuff is. I am only alive due to this I have had a mortar land at my feet and two grenades point blank that never detonated. Thank you Russia for your poor engineering.
