Thanks for the review and nice Hexen shirt. I had that game back in the day. For me, it is a tough call between the ser6 max and ser7. I'm seeing about a $200 difference after Amazon coupons.

Thanks for the review! Beelink's website does state that the USB4 port supports PD3.0 100w so it does serve as an alternative to the proprietary power adapter if you have the appropriate charger.

Haven't tried on this one. But every previous high end unit failed to run on the 100W power delivery. It would simply power off when put under load.

@@RobtechYou could try to put a JT-TC66C Joy-It in between (or a similar device), that provides a very accurate number on power consumption, especially since it measures the DC side, not AC conversion. I've used it several times already, to check what my gadgets really use in terms of power consumption.

Nice balanced review. Right after watching I checked AMZN US and while I really like this unit, in terms of pure performance I' m not sure it justifies the roughly $100 (20%) price over the SER6 MAX, unless you really like, as I do, the 2nd nvme drive. That might in itself justify the extra cost, though I sure hate that the power connector, neat as I think the design is, has "this is going to be a problem at some point" written all over it.

Another nice review .. with comparisons! Rob could you tell anything about the DDR5 temps? I'm a bit suprised the Nvme temps are such high, given the thermal solution they put in place. Wondering what it will do in a hot environment

Hey Rob, my SER7 crashes on PS2 emulation. Running PCSX2 nightly with D3D12. Can you try Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition and see if you can complete Mission 1? Perhaps try at least 3 times just to see if its consistent. Curious to know if the crash happens with other SER7 units.

I've got the SER 5 Pro 5700U. It doesn't quite match the specs here, but it does the job. I'm dual-booting Windows 11 and Ubuntu. The most intense thing I've thrown at it so far is Baldur's Gate 3, which is playable.

Good video and thank you for the vid edit bit. The software you used did not see/use the igpu so had to rely on the CPU alone? Just curious. I was hoping for something more...more. So...where is RDNA4 graphics? :) Thanks for the video.

Yeah Premiere only brings in the GPU for exporting unless it's an Intel one with Quick Sync.

Will this Beelink stay asleep? I have a SER6 Max, and I'm considering returning it because it won't stay asleep. I found out that this is a common issue with Beelink mini-PCs and it's definitely occurring with mine. Did a number of trouble shooting things with seemed to slightly improve the prob, but I still often find it turned on when I get up in the morning.

With Beelink GTR7 no longer available as new, this is the next best option. I'd take it over the SER6 Max for 1080p gaming and light video editing. I like that the max power draw is significantly lower than Intel NUC 13 Pro.

Still waiting for the mini pc that will replace my desktop. Not this one. My requirements: 1. silent or virtually silent, even under load 2. support for 2.5" drives 3. UBS 4 / Thunderbolt port, possibly with power delivery to the device (so that you can charge power it with a 100W power adapter if needed).

Going by the recommended OBS specs, you'd be better off getting something with a discrete GPU. Something like a NUC 12 Serpent Canyon would do really well for streaming video.

I would say the noise is a con but that depends what you are doing with it. However Win 11 in my experience has my AM06pro spinning that fan up just for "whatever" it's doing in the background. Even when I'm starting at a screenshot or reading text doing nothing. GG M$ I guess. Linux ran whisper quiet on that mini so I'd assume it would be even better on this monster. (By comparison)

It would be useful to specify the prices you are referring to - I'm watching this 4+ months after you published so prices have changed. That said, I just picked one up on Amazon (32GB/1TB/7840hs) for US$430 after a coupon. Just too good a deal to pass on.

Hello. I intend to change my tower for a mini PC (Ryzen 3600, RX5500XT, 32GB DDR4). I hesitate between the Beelink SER7 and the Minisforum UM790 Pro. I occasionnaly play but my main use is software development, internet, word processing, spreadsheet, HTPC, video encoding. So I just need CPU power for compiling and encoding video. Can you help me to choose which one is better for my activities ? I'd like the quietest mini PC at full load and at idle and the smallest consumption possible. Regards.

I'm new to PC hardware. If I wanted to upgrade the Ram, is there certain DDR 5 Ram to buy? (2 x 32)? To upgrade the SSD, it will take an additional 1TB SSD?

Depends on the mini PC and how much you need. Some have upgradeable memory and storage, others don't.

There aren't limits on storage. 32GB RAM is plenty for most usage cases.

When you click the Windows icon in the taskbar, does the Windows Store show there in "Pinned"? You can also click "All Apps" there to find it. If not, try finding it with the search bar.

Hey, just received my SER7. Want to run two screens, one with HDMI and one with USB-C. HDMI works when testing both monitors, but not USB-C. Have tried both USB-C ports in the back, with two different USB-C cables (new). Do you guys know how to fix this? Only seems to be a problem with Windows 11, not on my mac.

Usb-c what? Chinese companies are worse for this. What speed is it? power output? Display output? Even with USB4 is it full fat 40 or the gimped 20.

@@HeavyInstinct yeah that too, some of these have ridiculously low power draws... and are plenty for most stuff, especially if you just browse, stream, "officer" stuff etc. and they even do light games quite nicely

Most of those mini-PCs are ridiculous for the following reason: # very small fan and bad ventilation, therefore a lot of noise and high temperatures. Those idiots of manufactures should concentrate on creating a silent and cool Mini-PC. Integrate a 120mm fan into the top lid of the Mini-PC. Is it that difficult?
